snoris - this is the only way I have survived this weekend. I felt bad at first, but when I was SO tired and she wouldn't nap, I know I can take care of her better after a little sleep.
I need help. I can't get E to nap for the life of me. She used to take good naps. 1 hr in the AM, 2.5 hrs in the afternoon, and a catnap in the evening. Now - no nap. at all. She falls asleep eating, I put her down in her bed, and she wakes up 20 minutes later. Doesn't matter if I'm holding her or whatever. The longest nap we've gotten this week is in the car for an hour... and I can't just drive aimlessly around every day. She's tired, and so tired that she's miserable. The house is quiet, cool, and dark. She is swaddled in her arms-out sleep sack (which works great at night). I feel like I'm doing something wrong!
We went through a nap strike and are back to normal (maybe even better). Sometimes, I just let her cry to see if she would go to sleep and she did though briefly. Have you tried swing? This saved my sanity. Hopefully it's a brief phase!

Hope things continue to go well back at work babycaps!
Boo to sick and restless babies.
DS1 has his first day of 'school' today. He will be going to a daycare center 2 days a week so that I can have some one-on-one time with DS2. He was super excited when I dropped him off and I have gotten 2 pictures of him so far and he seems to be having fun.
I love my toddler but it's nice to have some time away.
The doctor is 20 mins late so far.. How do you run this far behind for the first appointment of the day?!?
So many reasons. Had to round at the hospital. Was on call overnight and was still dealing with call stuff. Answering pages while trying to get kids to daycare. Added in some urgent patients so you aren't actually first. I could go on and on.
I totally get that.
IIRC, Kaiser has a unique model. If you're in the clinic, you're not on call overnight. They don't page specific docs unless they're in the office, etc. Basically, all the staff is interchangeable. We have our primary docs, but if they're not in the office or in the hospital or whatever, you see someone else
He of course didn't cross his eyes while we were there. She said it's frequently the case. He appears to have good vision in both eyes, isn't favoring one eye over the other, and when they dialated him, everything looked healthy, so all good news.
It's basically a wait and see if it happens again. She said vision can swing very quickly, so if it starts happening more frequently to do another appointment.

Great news!!! Peace of mind everything is working well!
I called mil to say I was going to pick up DS but he had just fallen asleep and he missed his morning nap and had only eaten a couple of ounces. She said I was of course welcome to come get him but this is his first good nap of the day. Boooooo
So I decided to have her text me when wakes up. I know sleep is important. I'm sad he didn't eat much for her though

My DS is at MDO for the first time today.. It's at our church and in the same room as the nursery.. But still. I'm at work, but my MIL wanted to start him there to give her some free time (and I understand), so he's there. It makes me sad even though I know he's in good hands!
My mom and stepdad were in town for the weekend. My mom folded all the laundry and ironed DH's shirts. My stepdad trimmed all of our bushes, trees, and hedges and raked up any extra crap laying around. They are seriously the best.
And when DS woke up at 2am this morning my mom got up and held him and i slept in the recliner. Amazing.
Last weekend my mom came to watch the kids so H and I could clear the spot to build our new coop. Not only did she watch my kids she did the dishes and all of our laundry including cloth diapers.
H asked if she could come live with us! So so nice when family helps
It could also be the opposite. Remember their first wake time in the morning is typically their shortest wake period. Maybe you need to get her down for a nap sooner.

catching up... k3am, great news!! PAruby525, I'm right there with you. Sleep has gone from shitty to great to total shit again.
Well, I've pumped 3x and got less each time for a grand total of 275ml, or just shy of 10oz today. NOT great considering that I left nanny with a total of nearly 15oz for the day (3 bottles). Probably a little more than he needs, but I am also hoping that if he eats more during the day, he will sleep better tonight! Wishful thinking since sleep is totally developmental and not totally "full tummy" related.
On the plus side, I don't have to wash any pump parts tonight. I just washed them at work. Now I just have to buy those medela sterilizing bags and then I can just keep up this system instead of washing at home at night.
I went through ALL 1100 e-mails and I have a list of "topics" to address with several parties instead of trying to read e-mail threads! It will be faster and will let people know I am back and caught up once I have talked to each of them.
I am SO TIRED. I don't want to have a 3rd coffee...but I might need it.
The frozen milk I thawed smells yucky. DS would only take a fresh bottle from my mil. :/ is it possible to develop a lipase issue at any point? Could it be whatever I ate those days? Did I not freeze it quickly enough? Why does some milk smell spoiled and some doesn't? 😭
I'm going to scrub all the bottles tonight and maybe leave them soaking? And be extra careful with my pump cleaning
Gone are the days I can put DD and run to the restroom. She moves across my living room super quick now! Dang!! Mobility is exciting but kind of not fun all at the same time.

Coffee people.. advise me. How much caffeine does cappuccino have vs. a coke? I don't really caffeinate much since I hate coffee.. All my caffeine comes from coke. But I bought cookies that have cappuccino in them (which are surprisingly yummy!) and can already feel my blood move faster. It's probably all psychological.

I would throw them in boiling water over soaking them. Not sure if it will help your issue or not but I think sterilizing would be better then just washing

My other idea is maybe I DO have a lipase issue and never realized it until now. MH has always had a hard time giving DS a bottle. I'm wondering if he sometimes happened to have thawed milk and DS didn't like the taste. I had always observed him being impatient with bottle feeding and assumed that was the issue.

Holy growth spurt! DS spent a lot of time eating yesterday. Today I pumped 22 ounces at work, which is 6 more than I pump on a good day. And of course he has been on the boob for the past 30 mins.
k3am, quite a bit more than coke! At least I think so!
teraiin, no advice. But it is possible it's lipase.
Feeding LO now. Researching fenugreek and trying to decide if Domperidone is in my future.
He only took 8.5oz while I was gone. Nurses right away when I got home. But not a ton. He's eating now. I have a feeling he ate so much last night that he's sort of reverse cycling.
I must remember to ask pedi for special formula samples.
