I know this is early but because DDs birthday is on December 23, we have always started our Christmas shopping very early. I have about four things for her already. Does anyone have thoughts about gifts for the babies? I am seriously considering buying a convertible car seat for DS' big gift. Is that bad? A few books, some Christmas pjs, and a toy or two and we will call it good.
I haven't thought much about it yet. There's a big consignment sale next weekend. I think I'll look there for a few gently used things, or at least to get some ideas. Not that we don't have piles of baby toys around here already.
DS (our little Clomid miracle) born Sept. 25, 2012 Baby #2 lost at 8w3d on March 4, 2015 (EDD Oct. 11, 2015) Baby #3 lost at 5w2d on April 16, 2015 (EDD Dec. 15, 2015) Baby #4 lost at 4w1d on May 20, 2015 (EDD Jan. 25, 2016) DS2 (our little rainbow miracle) born May 25, 2016
With DD1 we just did a stocking. We may do the same for DD2 unless somehow I think of a bigger sizes gift she needs - probably not though ( I was ready to do her anytime chair from PBK but H wants to wait for 1st bday like DD1) No shopping done yet but I have started throwing ideas for the kids on Amazon wish list
We always follow the rule of something you want, something you need, something you wear, something you read, and a stocking. When they're this little, get things you'd buy anyway. They aren't going to remember! A's first Christmas we wrapped a box of diapers to put under the tree! 😂
ETA for A's first Christmas (4 months old) he got a small bath toy, diapers, Christmas PJ's and Christmas outfit, and a board book. In his stocking we put a sippy transition cup, baby utensils, bibs, and a baby toothbrush.
We won't do much prob just like 2-3 little things .... We will be out of town at my parents too so no need to do too much when I know they will have things for him lol
I love the idea of want, need, wear, read! I am worried about Grandparents going crazy though. I really hope they respect that we don't want a million things. I'm going to need to talk to H about that.

DD was about 5 months around her first christmas. I don't think H and I bought her anything. Money was tight, I don't even remember getting each other gifts! Family gave her plenty of gifts and she doesn't remember so H and I did not feel bad about it. We will probably just do a few things for DS since DD understands now.
I think someone mentioned a convertible carseat. That may be what we get him!

I doubt we'll buy anything particular for DS2, other than his convertible seat. I'm sure the grandparents will send some stuff. I might even just wrap up some old toys from DS1 for the stocking, hahaha.
DS1 is getting a train table and all of DH's old brio trains. He'll be over the moon.

Grandparents respect nothing. Especially at Christmas. Smile gracefully, then donate or return all of the shit you don't want.
x1000.
There was no "nice" way of conveying that we didn't want certain things to DH's parents.
We will buy each kid one gift of no certain size or amount. Just something that we want to give from us. Likely a balance bike for DS1 and a sensory/learning you for DS2, or music classes!
babycaps, if you lived closer, I would give you the brand spanking new balance bike we got DD for her 2nd birthday. Waste of money for us since it terrifies her. But she likes getting to wear a helmet.

Lucky for us he has used our neighbors BB! And scooter. We fight the helmet😝😝😝
A helmet like this is so inspiring to a girl. It may convince one to get stickers for a green wake up light, listening, AND Potty daily for two weeks...
For DS we want to do the something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read, his stocking and probably a big gift from Santa (which will probably be Legos) Will do something close for DD bc we want him to think Santa does it for everyone. For DD I was thinking of getting her one of those learning cube things, but not 100% They will also buy a small gift for each other- DS will use his own money. I'll bring him to the Fisher Price aisle and let him pick.

The zany zoo thing is also on my Xmas list since we have most big items already
D2s big gift will be a convertible car seat. I really only want a big wrapped gift for photo opps. DS1's was a baby gate yard. See pics below. I don't know what we'll do for DS1 this year. I'm sure he'll ask Santa for a toy. I want to get a cool Christmas train for around the tree.
Our old stockings were falling apart, so I got mom and dad stockings from PBK clearance last year and I ordered the kids' this year. They were $$ with the embroidered names but I get a designers discount there and I figure they will last forever.
Ooooh I had to look at these stockings you spoke of. They're beautiful. (And yes, some have a discount right now!) of course I like the most expensive kind. I would. 😝

+1
Do they go more on sale after the holidays I wonder?
