Thank you for all the poop thoughts! Pediatrician isn't too worried. She said I can stimulate one with a rectal thermometer if I want, but not to make a habit of it. She also said I can try some prune juice + water if her stools aren't soft when they finally happen.
I am having a weird/gross problem with DD. Something about the angle I put her legs at when wiping her seems to trigger gas and I keep catching poops with wipes. I'm really glad we use cloth wipes.
My child got me with poop a few days ago. Like, distance happened.
It was hilarious and gross all at once.
I'm not saying she has hit the wall before but .... She hit the wall with it once.
As far as healthy eating, it helps not to keep junk food in the house. The slow cooker is my best friend as far as eating real food. I still have a good stash of freezer meal but felt like cooking today.
For the first time I left the house without DS to pick up DD from preschool. Her teacher tells me she's doing very well but she started whining as soon as we walked out the door. She told me that she's disappointed that baby isn't much fun. I think she expected a six month old who would smile at her, play with toys and babble. I told her that in a few weeks his biggest smile will be for her but that didn't really comfort her.
My wonderful news is that our au pair wants to stay for another year. We don't really need her now since Im on maternity leave and DD is in school 4 hours a day but I can't imagine getting rid of her as she has become family. So she will be with us until December 2017 and we are all so relieved.

annbuhdan I eat sandwhich meat, cheese and crackers for like every meal. H cooks his own food when he comes home late at night. My kids are on a steady diet of chicken nuggets, cereal and PBJ. I'm totally failing in the food category. I got a veggie platter at costco and we have been snacking on that today. Feeding yourself and taking care of baby is just to hard at this point. I'll try when I get more than 4 or 5 hours of broken sleep.
My mom came back to town bc my sister is doing a 48 hours layover with her kids here. I'm glad she is back for a visit but she is bitching about having to get up at 530 for the airplane. I so want to say "Bitch please" but she is my mom so I better not
Oh and my two year old thinks grandma is taking her away again so she isn't let me out of her sight. This should be a fun week.

DD was fussing and fighting sleep so I wrapped her up and wore her down to the bus stop to pick up DD1 and she passed right out, yay!
Anyone have any tips for wrapping her outside of the house (without the help of a mirror and a clean ground on which to let the wrap tails hang while I get it all set)? I'm new to this!

I put my wrap on at home and wear it in the car. Idk if that would help.

Thanks! Is there a certain carry you do for this? The only one I have learned so far is the FWCC. I def could get it started and wear it in the car but if there's another one I could work on learning, I'd love to know!

No I just do the FWCC. Or a variation where I can put them on my hip. Ours are to small for the hip one right now. I only wrap for a bit. I like my ergo more because it is cooler and quicker.
Re: entertaining newborns. I desperately want to make this stargazing box for DD3 (and, lets be honest, the big kids). DH understandably laughs at me when I talk about finding time for it. But seriously it looks like newborn crack.
DD3 also enjoys tummy time because it gives her ample time and access to attempt to suck on her index finger, which is her life goal right now. If she gets it and it doesn't escape from her, she attempts to go to sleep.
I think I had mentioned a while back that my H was being recruited by a new company. He has officially taken the job and we are moving in October. I'll be keeping my job and working remote. We just signed a lease on a townhouse this evening! If anyone has any tips on packing and moving with a toddler and newborn (LOL) I'll take them.

Congrats on the new job! We moved cross country when S1 was 2.25 and S2 was four to six months. We moved out of our town hour when he was four months and Into the new house two months later. My suggestions are:
Plan ahead! For me, that meant having enough 6 month size hand me downs packed so i didn't have to buy new clothes. Packing a few utensils and what not for both kids.
Talk up the new place to the toddler. Also be careful what you say and don't make assumptions. My son got a new bed at the new house so we showed him a picture. It didn't have a mattress on it yet. He was devastated when he saw the picture because he thought he was going to have to sleep on the hard surface lol explain moving means your toys and clothes and stuff are coming with you but your house and doors and friends are staying there.
I don't remember if you're BF or not but if you have someone at your destination you could overnight frozen breastmilk to them. We put it in a styrofoam cooler with dry ice and it all made it still frozen.

Hire movers. Outsource everything and just show up at the new place. I'm never relocating without movers again lol
Believe me, we are considering outsourcing everything. But we got a few quotes and they are outrageously expensive because we are moving about 700 miles. Like they would eat up DHs entire starting bonus and we really want to save some of that for a house. In the end we may end up doing it anyway because I hate packing and moving

Thanks so much for the way to explain to the toddler! DS will be exactly 2 and we are most worried about his transition. I didn't even think about moving breast milk! Maybe I will keep all of my pump stuff packed till we are settled.

Oh so much this. The USMC paid for our move. I wouldn't even considering doing it myself with two small kids. Yikes. That's just crazy talk right there.
Oh I definitely understand. It's expensive for sure. I'm moving 2k miles across country for about $3k. I had to hire one company to move my belongings and a different one to ship my car to be able to get the best price.
When we moved 500 miles a few years ago we did it ourselves because it was cheapest. We didn't have kids then though so I have no advice on that front.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Any chance these are national companies I would want to look into? That is much lower than the quotes I was getting.

That's my advice too. We moved this past winter with just a toddler. It made packing more difficult bc I could only pack after she went to bed. Might want to consider paying the movers to pack too. We were lucky in that we made settlement on new house while we still had our old house, so it could be a slow move in.
Apparently the hidden task force assigned to my crack dealing neighbor(s) actually HAS been doing something. At least one idiot got arrested this afternoon. My grouchy mommy heart hopes the whole nest gets cleaned out soon. I hate the stench in the common hallway, I hate the 10+ randos in and out every day at all hours. We had a nice place, decent laundry machines, no trouble, before jerkbag moved into the other apartment. They trash the parking area and common space, the laundry machines are marked up, smell musty, and I don't really trust them anymore. Ugh.
I had a lousy night of sleep last night, a headache today, and I am just trying to hold out til bedtime. My sister is coming first thing tomorrow morning, and DD1 and I are both very excited. She will be here almost 2 weeks. I might actually get to catch up on some housework... and finish my class I put on hold when I couldn't handle sitting in front of the computer a few weeks ago.
So... I guess hi? Hope everyone is getting along okay.
I noticed today that the boy responds better when I speak/sing to him in Spanish. Maybe it reminds him of the sitter that he likes more than me? Idk, but this baby is broken and I need a new one.
I'm not sure if you're serious but in case you are, baby definitely loves you most. You're his mommy!!! He may respond more to Spanish if it is the exception as opposed to the rule.
