snoris I hope your cousins are able to adopt him. My mom used to work at a women's rehab center, with the kids under 5, while their moms were in treatment. So many heartbreaking stories and the sweetest kids. I volunteered there sometimes. A lot of them were in and out of the foster care system, and there were so many she wished she could adopt, but couldn't due to conflict of interest. Years later, working elsewhere, she foster to adopted my little brother.
Is anyone doing the multilingual thing with their babies (babycaps or westiemom)?? I dabble only in German & Spanish, but what a gift (I imagine) to be raised multilingual! I'm wondering what language would be best to start with! Down the line I would be willing to work with a tutor for the family, but I would want to start exposing baby I to the language now. The only thing I've said is "you're drinking milk" in German. And maybe a German song or two haha. I'm very good with IPA (not the tasty kind) & Latin, but not even close to fluent in anything. Thoughts?
The kids that hang out here are ESL, so we always have them speak Spanish as much as possible around Ridley. Hopefully neither of us move in the next few years and they can keep teaching her. After that we'll get a tutor.
snoris, it is WAY easier said than done for me! I WANT both of them to be fluent in Portuguese and when we started screen time it was only in portuguese and now he HATES anything not in English. BUT, we continue to expose both of them to portuguese daily! Since I learned English at 14, and am clearly fluent, I'm not TOO worried. He is also exposed to Spanish very often. We will likely kick it up in high gear next summer. just TOO MUCH going on right now.
I wish h world spend more time with Ridley. He thinks he spends plenty of time with her but he doesn't hold her enough for my liking. Then he wonders why she doesn't feel comforted when he holds her sometimes.

+1 Eta it gets better when they get older. He's great with the toddler. I just have to keep reminding myself that.
Ridley is starting to get really picky with her naps. She'll only fall asleep while nursing if we're in bed and if we're not she has to have zero simulation in order to fall asleep. Which means weekend and days when daddy's home are miserable. 😥
I either put his lovey or a muslin burp cloth over his face while I'm trying to get him to sleep if he's fussy. He closes his eyes as soon as it touches his face. This sounds awful reading it back. Lol I only do it while I'm rocking him. And once he's out if I plan on snuggling I move it so I can see his face or I put him down in his crib without it.
When DS2 naps without the swaddle he nuzzles a muslin security blanket and I drape it along the side of his head so it covers half his face. He likes his eyes covered to sleep. Sometimes he will cover his eyes with his hands.
I feel like such a hypocrite. I love watching football- it's my fav sport to watch. But I will never allow my children to play it. Random thought is Brought to you by my state university's game I'm watching right now. 😜

We are reading books in Spanish now and I speak to her in Spanish some daily and sing her some songs in Spanish. Sadly, my Spanish isn't as awesome as it used to be so it will only be a light introduction. I would love to put her in bilingual programming.
My husband doesn't speak Chinese sadly. I know a few things (dog, chicken, milk) so she will not get a Chinese education from us but hopefully his parents can help some with her learning the basics.

+1, although I'm watching my alma mater stink up the joint.
I had every intention of teaching the kids Spanish. So far J only knows "hola" and "adios" and I didn't teach him hola.
Not going to lie, haven't really thought too much about DS learning a foreign language. :/ I know the local home school group has some bilingual people who do classes so that's probably what we will do

DS is such a mellow baby. My mom babysat last night and put him to bed in a cloth diaper. I forgot to tell her disposable for nighttime since he leaks through cloth. He leaked through his diaper and was soaked. But he never fussed. He just woke up cooing this morning.

That's two naps in a row she's woken up early because she was crying in her sleep. I don't know what to do. She needs sleep. Do I just let her cry and wait until she wakes herself up or stops? Someone help me.
I've been picking her up and rocking her. It's making the crying so and sometimes(this isn't the first time this has happened) it makes her stay asleep. But I don't know what to do.
Omg Blake was jokingly giving Ridley soda, just had the can up to her mouth, and she punched the can. It spilled all over her and she got a mouthful. Lol. Poor kid.

When you say cry is it like a starting of a cry like "wa wa wahhhhh" or like full on cry?
DS will start the wa wa wahhhh and if I'm there I run his belly usually because 9 times out of ten he will wake himself up. I've been trying hard not to interfere too much with naps (like picking him up) but it's hard! Hard to balance their need for sleep and wanting to promote better sleep habits lol

Headed into the week with a clean house, clean laundry, clean dishes, and meals prepped for the beginning of the week. I have the feeling we will have a good week 🙏🏼

Somewhere between fussing and full on crying.
I leave DD and give it 10 mins before intervening. Usually, she goes right on sleeping.
