So, in our household at least, the Miracle Blanket may really be a miracle! DS had been giving us one 2.5-3 hour stretch of sleep to start the night off (usually beginning around midnight), but after his first wakeup he had been waking up every. Single. Hour. Since we spent some of that time feeding/changing and I don't fall back asleep immediately when he does, I hardly got any sleep after that first wakeup. Two nights ago we swaddled him in the Miracle Blanket for the first time (we used a SwaddleMe the first week and a Halo Sleep Sack since then, but 1) I hate Velcro and 2) he always got his arms out). Anyways, both nights so far he's given us a 3.5-4hr stretch at first and then two 2.5-3 hour stretches after that! According to my Fitbit, I got almost SEVEN HOURS of sleep two nights ago and 6 last night. I'm in heaven. If anyone is having trouble keeping their LO's arms swaddled, I highly recommend trying the Miracle Blanket. I'm sure this streak won't last too long, but even two nights of decent sleep are worth the price tag, IMO!
In other news, we started bottle boot camp over here yesterday, since DS is 4 weeks old! DH is giving him a bottle for the first morning feeding, while I pump. Yesterday he spit up a lot, but today he didn't at all. I think DH LOVES being able to feed him. After they finished the bottle, DS happily snuggled with DH while I made breakfast. Usually, DH is lucky if he even gets a few minutes a day of holding a happy/awake baby. We have a wedding to go to in 3 weeks, and I'm in the bridal party. I would love to be able to spend a few hours apart from DS knowing that DH can take care of all of his needs.
My kid has no concept of day and night. She sleeps all day and stares at me all night.
BABY GIRL. MOMMY NEEDS TO SLEEP A LITTLE.
We started a bedtime routine last night. Hopefully, with time, she'll get it.
What's your bedtime routine like? What time do you start it?
It's not very eventful as she still has her cord stump. But we chnager her into pjs, new diaper, swaddle her and take her up the bedroom for her last feeding. I feed her in bed and then put her in the bassinet while drowsy.
It didn't work last night, but it was day one.
I'm trying to do her three night feeds in the bedroom, as well. I'm working on reinforcing daytime (bright! Naps in the swing!) and night (dark. Sleep swaddles in the bassinet).

hummingbird125 that's great!! Mine loved the miracle blanket for two days then despised it. He loves his arms out above his head so I do the halo with his arms out. As he's gotten a little older now, his first stretch is always 3-4 hours and then 2-3 after that. Hopefully yours gets in a routine and stays like that as well!
hannahbear we start bedtime at 8. Every night he's screaming starting at 7:30 and we rock him and walk around with him trying to calm him (never works). But we force him to wait til 8. It works for us because then he's super exhausted. We give his medicine, then diaper change in his room, jammies, then nurse in the dark with the noise machine in his room. Then I rock him for 15 minutes and put him in the crib at 8:30. He's out like a light every single night, even when I put him in there still awake he puts himself to sleep within 10 minutes.

I've been trying to reinforce day vs night, too. My problem is the MOTN feedings - he wakes up and wants to play, and I just want to go to sleep! The first feeding before bed is always fine, but at like 1 am and every feeding after, I have a hard time getting him back to sleep. He falls asleep nursing, but then wakes up when I move, try to out the swaddle back on, or transfer him into the crib. And then he will just stare at me and cry. Last night he stayed up from one feeding and then it was time to start the next one!

Can you swaddle him while nursing? I turn lights on for a diaper change, re swaddle, and then lights out while nursing.

This is exactly what we do. DH changes the diaper, doesn't talk to LO and we keep the lights dim usually, then we re-swaddle before I feed him. He often dozes off while eating, and while it's a bit of a struggle to keep him awake long enough to eat for a while, I'd rather have that issue than the opposite one!

Accomplishments: 1) got kids to nap at the same time 2) made brownies 3) napped with baby 4) found pacifier hidden in toy box 5) laundry and prepped dinner. Yay Sunday

I always diaper change and reswaddle after the first boob MOTN to help this a little.
Being at the hospital is so weird...since they have monitors here to track breathing, HR, etc. it's not a problem for babies to use pillows or be propped with Boppy to sleep.

That is weird. But in a good way because I imagine they can do whatever they need to sleep best!
Does anyone have the owlet sock? We have a snuzza that I like. I'm not sure I'd want to measure my baby's pulse and oxygen level but...would it make cosleeping more safe? Or would it stress me out? Anyone have any thoughts or experience?

I tried last night but then he falls asleep before he gets to the other boob! I ended up supplementing (which he will always take...). I'll try again tonight! Maybe the key is to stop on the first side before he's fully asleep

quirks Not sure if you will see this in time, but good luck going back to work tomorrow. I hope everything works out to give you a nice smooth first day!!

My only concern would be them starting a sleep crutch that I can not use at home

Unfortunately, I know of a family whose baby was very badly burned by the owlet. It completely scared me off of buying one

I finally took my kids to one of Hs soccer games. Of course this was the first ever at which a fight broke out. Awesome. I'd made I'd 4.5 years without S1 hearing the F word.
Luckily H didn't join in the fight and I made him leave right away. It was fun explaining to our kids that those men didn't use their words and that's why they hit. 😳 Hopefully I don't get asked the meaning of the words they were using.

I know several of you live in the New York area and I just want to say that I hope all of you found a way to make it through today with some sort of positivity. If you lost some one on that day, I'm sorry for your loss. If you have family that were/are first responders, Thank You. I live so far away from New York, but I will never forget any moment of that day. Watching the news coverage has had me in tears all day.
dc2london yup, not looking to create bad habits that will make me crazy at home.
coffeequeen14 my insight is different since I have a heart baby, but I've been recommended by doctors not to get it because it would make me paranoid. The owlet alarms at 90% O2 levels and that saturation point cannot be changed. Also, even with hospital grade pulse oximeters, there are lots of false alarms when the reading is not accurate and you don't want to be kept up often because of that.
Football weekenss with kids get better and better. DS now knows to yell "touchdown" and it just makes me so proud. I can't wait till we can hang out as a family and eat all day and watch football.

Aww thank you! I've been busy all evening getting everything ready for the week. It hit me when H was putting DD to bed that I won't be taking care of her in the morning so I cuddled her instead of getting to bed early. H is staying home with her this week and she starts daycare the next week. I can't believe how quickly time flew!
