My big girl is getting her final molars in, so that must explain the ultra fussy toddler times lately. She also is sick, but I'm not sure what's wrong. Her lips are super chapped and she has a few little red spots around her mouth - is this how hand foot and mouth starts??!

It's probably just from extra drool... Right? I thought HFM starts with fever then blister like spots once fever breaks. I could be way off base here but

She's 2 1/2 so not really drooling at all. Maybe while she is sleeping? I don't know. At first I thought her lips were just dry because of the change in the weather, but now she is definitely not feeling well, has a low grade fever, and small red spots on the outsides of her lips. Yesterday afternoon we were getting ready to go to the park and she said she needed to lie down and rest, and crawled into her bed all by herself. I don't think that's ever happened before. Today more of the same... Camped out on the couch and looking miserable. Barely eating anything. I am just dreading the baby coming down with whatever yuckiness this is.

When my toddler had HFM he started with the fever first, then the sores in his mouth the next few days. He didn't have too bad of a case but was miserable for a few days. Hoping that's not what your LO has.
Sorry for all the sick people and bebes. We have a stomach bug. We being me and L. There is all the baby poop's And a few projectile voms. It's been a fun day at my house. My MIL is whacked. She is also a drunk and that just adds to her crazy. I think probably at some point her brain operated pretty well but being a long time alcoholic does nothing good to you apparently. Hubs and I are doing ok. We are more like roommates than lovers, but we are happy friendly roommates so I guess there is that. I hired a temp replacement for my assistant and have a perm one hopefully starting end of Oct. the temp has a man bun. And happily describes himself as a naked hippy in the woods kind of guy. While typically this would annoy theeverlovingshit out of me I actually think he is super smart and has been a great addition already. I know he won't stay because he doesn't like winter but I hope he comes back every summer.
NellieOleson, how wonderful that your ILs are so good at letting you and YH have a night out. My instinct is that your LO doesn't have the HFM, it's probably one of those bugs going around. Hope DD1 is back to herself soon. scorpioscuba, i am not without coffee for the entire day. Not even kidding. I'll even drink it overnight when i get up with DS if im thirsty. Im a little obsessed with all the flavored creamers like salted chocolate caramel and irish creme...yummmm Lsquared, good for you for speaking up at your OB! You totally deserve that alone time. silverspoon, hahaha love that posing baby! what a stud! dizzycooks, lol so funny. kelltothekell, sounds like a super fun birthday! kcrkcs, feel better sweeties! crimsonandclover, i really hope you are having a better night and enjoyed your wine! How often do you get to see your parents? 14joa31, good for you for not tolerating that shit from your MIL. I have the same situation with my parents regarding their relationship, except my dad is the problem. tinydancer, i hope everything is going as smoothly as possible with your move, i know that's such a tense time. Hugs.
Taking some antibiotics. This is the same illness i had a few weeks ago so i still have some meds left over. DD has refused to sleep in her room the last two nights and is now sleeping with me in the master bedroom. DS has been doing well thankfully with his sleep, only getting up a few times but then goes back to sleep after eating. If i feel like shit in the morning my mom will stop by for an hour so i can sleep before she goes to work. Fuckkkk. I feel so helpless and pathetic. I'm not good at being sick, obviously.
icequeen have you called your doctor? Might be worth doing it so you can get a new round of antibiotics so that you'll be able to finish the whole round. Just a thought! Momming while being sick is the worst
icequeen - hope you feel better soon! NellieOleson - HFM swept through our daycare earlier this summer. DS' symptoms were fever, sores at the back of his throat and extreme fatigue. The good news is that it only lasted 3-4 days. Hope that your LOs feel better soon!
I am starting to freak out about Zika. We want one more baby, and I read some articles last night that said vaccines for widespread distribution won't be available until 2018. I live in Maryland, and Zika is already in Florida. Who's to say it won't be here by next summer? I am going to email my OB about it ... maybe we should start trying for #3 this winter before the mosquitoes start biting ... It's just a really depressing, scary thing. I feel so bad for all of those babies and moms dealing with microencephaly. I just cannot even imagine.
Sorry to be a bummer - it's just what's been on my mind recently.
tinydancer - good luck with the move! Moving is the worst, and moving with a baby is a special kind of suckiness. We moved when dd1 was 5 months old and everything took about three times longer than usual.
Lollipop - where you at, woman? I hope all is okay and your ds is enjoying kindergarten.
Sorry I haven't been around. The weekend was crazy hectic with S's birthday party, and then we all got sick. H stayed home from work yesterday because of it, but he can't miss 2 days in a row, so he went in today. I had less than 5 hours of sleep last night, and hardly more than that the last few nights because M won't sleep alone when she's sick, and I sleep like crap when she's with me. I inhaled a cup of coffee, and I'm seriously considering having another one.
S is loving Kindergarten, but it's taking some adjusting to get used to going to school 5 days a week. Meet the teacher is tonight, so H is skipping game night for it. They went to the school library for the first time yesterday and he was so excited about it. He has a good friend already, but he's been sad that his friend wasn't there the last couple of days.
kelltothekell - I will let you know what my OB says. I am not even sure how/when Zika passes from mother to child. I hope to get all the details! I think you have to be bitten while pregnant, or something. I will let y'all know what I find out! And I would hope that my OB would be just as cautious as your friend's OB!

I have to say, all the scary things I'm hearing about Zika has definitely made me grateful that I'm done having babies. I think you are smart to be thinking about this now and talking with your OB to keep you and your future babies safe!
Why did summer come back?! I was enjoying the cool weather we've been having. Now I'm a sweaty, sticky mess, and I still have to go out again to pick S up from school. I hate the system they have. I can't even have someone else walk him home, it has to be H or I. Unless he's going to daycare, or a baby-sitter's. When I went to that school, my mom had an older student walk us home. I can't even drive there, because no license and no car. And we live too close for him to take the bus

Horrible night last night. I slept with dd3 because she was so pathetic and sad. Today I see she has a blister on her finger from gumming it so hard. I tossed some teething toys in her crib for naptime and that seemed to help. I'm having a book party at my house on Sunday and I neeeeeeed to clean. I just cleaned the lower bath. So much dust, and two live (now dead) spiders later, it's clean. Except the mirror because I can't find my mirror cloth.

Zola freaks me out, but my understanding is the mosquitos I. The Midwest aren't the type to carry it? I haven't thought much about it other than how it's impacting our (nonexistent) travel plans.

One of my best friends has been trying to get pregnant since February. She and her husband were just in Florida for the last two months - during the time the outbreaks were discovered in the Miami area. Her OB told her they should stop trying and wait at least 8 weeks before trying again. She's 36 and starting to get worried about why it hasn't happened for them yet, so this is adding a lot more stress to her situation.

Oh. And we are tentatively planning on a trip to Florida next (early) spring. We still haven't decided if we are going to have a third kid, but if we did, that's right around when we would be trying. Is spring mosquito season down there? Anyone know?
NellieOleson, I think it's pretty much always mosquito season down there. But I don't know for sure. I do know that my friend that lives there was complaining about them yesterday.
H has a man cold. I thought he was getting better, but now this afternoon he can barely talk. I'm pretty sure working in what is essentially a giant fridge isn't helping. But, like, I'm sick too, and you don't see me whining half as much as he is. :eye roll:

scorpioscuba and kcrkcs still losing hair here too. It's disgusting. I didn't have this problem with my first two so I'm a little confused. I just brush and hope I have hair left each day. I am also starting to see the regrow th? I have dozens of little 1 inch sprouts on my head that give me a fabulous fizzy look.
NellieOleson - maybe you should reach out to your OB too and talk about LO #3 and your Florida trip? I'm still waiting to hear back from mine - it can take up to three days for her to write back to me.
