redhead610 It sounds like he's going through a growth spurt!
@suesposa Both my babies have mild torticollis. We are doing neck stretches and turning their heads both ways during tummy time and when they're laying on the play mat. We don't bother with it when we put them down to sleep because they just turn right back.
There is also a hat you can buy called a tortle that is supposed to help. No personal experience though.

Is tortocollis when the baby only turns his head in one direction? I'm going to ask the ped about that tomorrow - I think E only ever looks to the left

@suesposa that seems like a lot of milk to pack. For reference I would send four four ounce bottles to daycare for twelve hours. BF babies generally take about an ounce an hour.
dc2london hooray for winning this am! Enjoy that latte!!
youdontsay good luck to your H! And eat that elephant one bit at a time when considering all of those logistics:)
bocaburger you are doing great! You freaking deserve to go grab coffee. I have a nanny still coming just like gratefulgirl because she watches the kids when I work from home. I also have a mothers helped come on occasion when I'm overwhelmed or H is traveling a lot. You're a great mom for doing what you're doing and taking great care of those babies but you're especially great because you're bringing in help when you need it! No shame, particularly with newborn twins, in asking for help. It's tough having someone in your space but it gets easier. Don't be afraid to be specific...you're in charge!
Just went for an hour long walk with a neighbor and then for coffee and pasties. Boys are at school so it was just DD. Bliss.
Now finishing the cleaning I didn't get done yesterday due to her being a fussy monkey.

Yup! It can cause flat spots/change head shape which is why it needs to be addressed.

joy My condolences to you and your family. youdontsay. GL to your husband that he lands a great job. bocaburger, You have newborn twins and are recovering from surgery. Please be kind and gentle with yourself.
We have a live in au pair because that was the best childcare arrangement when I was leaving for work very early, taking late afternoon classes and DH's intense work and travel schedule. Now that I'm neither working not in school it seems like quite an indulgence. Fortunately she found a temporary local nanny position 3 days a week for someone whose permanent childcare provider is on medical leave for 2 months. She's still living in our house but working for another local family. DD is very attached to her and will see her most days. It's a win-win arrangement for everyone.

bocaburger, if the help is there, take it. I wish I had some help here. My parents/IL's aren't really helpful. I just try to stay out of the house as much as possible to keep us occupied.
I took B and LO to a museum in Philly today. (joy, I noticed traffic and parking were crazier than usual, lots of people walking- I thought it was the weather. #thanksobama! Hehehe) The place was empty and B had a blast. Now I'm parked in the driveway with both kids passed out in the back.

Thank you gratefulgirl for recommending OT Mama. I had never tried tummy time with the baby on my lower legs before (like playing airplane). She LOVES it. She is all smiles the whole time, and it makes it more fun to get her tummy time in.

Sorry I haven't been around much in general. Three kids under three is hard. we took DS to the ER on Sunday because he had a quarter-size knot on his butt that was starting to turn black. As soon as they looked at it, they admitted him. It was right on his anus and was almost completely black when they looked at it.
They started antibiotics because they thought it could be MRSA or E. coli. He had surgery Monday morning to drain it and get it cleaned out. It was so hard not to feed him for 9-10 hours. I was holding him and he kept head butting my boobs wanting food. Surgery went fine.
They just called it a perirectal/perianal abscess. Then I googled. Bad idea. It said one of the causes could be not cleaning well enough. Even though the doctor assured me that wasn't the cause, I still feel like a horrible mom.
The labs from this morning still showed a high white blood cell count, but they discharged anyway with 4 prescriptions. One is a cleanser for anyone who changes his diaper.

Yay!
Dancing in the colic hold is probably DD3's favorite tummy time, followed closely by lying on my chest and grinning at me (melt). She doesn't mind traditional tummy time as long as she can try to suck her fingers the entire time.

Thanks guys. I stayed at the hospital Sunday night and came home last night. I fell asleep at 9:30 and don't think I moved at all until my oldest barged into my room at 5 this morning.
Also, to EPers, you're amazing. I had to pump when I got home last night and a couple times today. It wears you out.
His diaper routine has gotten more intense now. Have to put this prescription cream on the incision, diaper rash cream over that, then gauze basically between his butt cheeks. Fun.
So doc doesn't think baby j has reflux just that he is a miserable baby yay! He is gaining weight to well for it to be reflux apparently (7 11 at birth now 10 11 at 5 weeks) but he has torticollis so got a referral for that
Makes me wonder how much baby w weighs. Guess I could pop him on the scale with a person tonight
SAHMs how do you cut the monotony? I don't have any older kids so it's not like we have activities to go out and do...
When I just had DD1 we went for a lot of walks. She hated the car seat with a fiery passion so that was hard. But occasionally I would brave it. None of my friends had kids so we'd go to my parents or do lunch with DH or get coffee.
Once she was park age and my friends started having kids it got a lot easier. Having a newborn is simultaneously boring and crazy busy, which should not be possible.
misshart00 that sounds awful. I'm glad DS is home. And don't feel like a horrible mom. You noticed an issue and took him in, he got treated quickly, and is hopefully healing..that makes you a great mother.
bocaburger I went to the mall a lot with DD..it was Nov/Dec so too cold to go outside so walked the mall instead. Needless to say I spent a lot of money haha.
AFM, today is our anniversary, but since we have a new born we skipped the fancy dinner out and just had a nice meal at home. DH tried again with the bottle and it was a huge success!! He was so excited and so much more engaged the whole evening. He helped with bath time and even put her to bed. Feeling so relieved!

We get out of the house every day. Whether it's grocery shopping, Target, library, park, coffee or lunch, we do some activity outside the house every day
I had a group meeting at the LC this evening. My chunker is 13lb4oz. LC was deeply impressed whereas my pedi would surely be pissed. Oh well. I needed that pat on the back after my shitty meeting with the lawyer.
Oh no, was hoping your meeting went okay. Sorry to hear it was shitty.
Hi all, I hope everyone is having a good week so far.
R is one week out after surgery and we are still here. The team is being extra cautious because of chylous (a fatty liquid) coming out of the chest tube connected to his lung. It is decreasing in volume, but they still want to wait. It's hard every morning hearing that maybe tomorrow we can get the tubes out and then it still can't happen. I hope we get to leave by the end of this week...I do appreciate that they want to ensure his recovery is going well though. I miss DD and home.
Eta: we decided until he gets chest tubes out, we won't attempt BFing again. It seems like the time we tried, it was too painful. I'm not enjoying this extended intimate relationship with the pump.
