I gave E some prune juice this morning but so far nothing has happened. She is fighting naps big time today. Every time she seems to drift off, she starts grunting and kicking again. It seems like the only way she will sleep today is with my boob in her mouth!
Ugh this was us last night. He basically slept with my nipple in his mouth.

I just had a super busy morning. I went to our local weekly breastfeeding support group meeting. Finally confirmed that I've got an oversupply problem. I had the LC check out latch bc he's constantly gulping, gagging, spitting up. No latch issues, just turns out he's drowning in milk.

Poor guy! Did the LC give you any tips on what you can do with an oversupply issue? I feel like I'm always hearing out undersupply so I've never heard anything relating to oversupply!
I guess there's not a ton you can do. We talked about pumping... Since I need to start soon to start a stash before I go back to work. She said to not pump too long... Never actually empty the breast, bc doing that triggers you to produce more. So she suggested just pumping one side for 5 minutes a day to get the stash. I'll be curious to see how much I get in 5 minutes. The scale said he ate 4.5oz off of one side in one feed while we were there. I'm not convinced. That's a TON of milk for a 2.5 week old.
Just left my mw appt. still at 3cm and 70-80% effaced. She swept me again (better this time I think) and sent us with homework...sex, then castor oil and oj around 2am...DNW either but I'll do it.
I hope that sweep works! My MW discussed castor oil on Monday and I said I'm not touching that unless you give me the green light. 40 weeks seems to be her green light also. She said that they had a cocktail recipe that involved a juice Champagne. That alone got me interested, lol.

I had oversupply on one side last time. Sometimes when it was really bad when my milk let down I would pull her off and let it spray into a towel until it slowed down. Otherwise she would kind of choke and gag.
Also look into block feeding if it gets really bad. You only feed on one side for like a 4 hour block (anytime baby eats in that 4 hours), then switch to the other. I didn't do that since it was only one side but remember reading about it.
annapunkalunka did she talk to you at all about feeding from one breast per feeding? I had major over supply issues with my daughter and she was constantly gagging and spitting up. I ended up alternating breasts for each feeding rather than both at every feeding. It helped to regulate my supply a bit faster.
annapunkalunka, a few ladies from my last board had similar issues but the gagging was due to a fast letdown. They got a hand pump and did that first so they could save the milk, then they'd latch baby.

I was already doing that just because he would never be interested in the second side... Which now makes sense.

I remember I used to spray C all the time if she'd pull off! E got his first spray down today. It's crazy how strong it is.

We talked about that, too. If he doesn't get the hang of it or it doesn't regulate soon, that's what we'll have to do.
flyakite yes we go for a weighted on Friday. With DS, weighted feeds and pump sessions with a LC were really rough. The results were really disheartening. I guess that's why I'm so uncertain

Any success? Since I posted we've had like 4 poops! Sending you a ton of poopy vibes LOL
At my weekly appointment yesterday, my doctor said I was suddenly measuring small (33-34 weeks when I'm actually 39 weeks) and booked me for an u/s tomorrow (Thursday) to check fluid levels or anything else that might have caused the change. HB sounded great, and doctor said she thinks baby has just dropped in preparation for arrival, but I'm still stressing out. The only appointment they had available for the u/s isn't until 5:30 pm tomorrow, so I've got another 24 hours before I know what's going on. Plus it means I'll be away from DD for the 3rd evening in a row (2 work events yesterday and today), which makes me sad.
Also I've had two successful pain-free postpartum poops. Is it weird to be excited about that?
I bought stool softeners, non stimulant laxatives, and a big tub of tucks last night in advance. I don't want a repeat of last post partum, pooing was awful for the first two weeks. I still have plenty of pads and disposable underwear from two years ago.
