We had a great night last night. I tribute it to the impromptu CIO session we had to do. I was unexpectedly solo parenting last night. DH almost passed out while teaching yesterday and spent the rest of the day in bed. His BP was really high. I'm more than a little concerned. 28 is too young to be having these issues. So bedtime- Cam was losing it. He was at the point of needing to be asleep 10 mins ago type of situation. So I gave A a few toys to play with and put him in his room. Cam wasn't going to sleep but was drowsy, so I ended up putting him down so I could do bedtime with A. He cried pretty hard but was settled by the time I got done with A. And he slept literally all night! 7:30-5:30! Of course that means tonight will probably have a gazillion wake ups lol But I'm glad we had a good night because I have a 7am meeting this morning. Boo!!!
I like Friday eve! It's been a really long week with some very early morning work events. I guess I'm used to it, I woke up early this morning and was about to hop in the shower when G woke up crying and hungry, so I'm feeding him first. DH has been doing most of daycare dropoff and pickup and after one long day with the kids, he was like, I have no idea how you managed when I was OOT last week. It's definitely much easier when he's here.

Rarg. Did not get much sleep last night.
Lots of updates from me and why I've been MIA....
Last week I ended up taking B into the doctor bc even on the new formula and heartburn meds I didn't think he was getting better. Sure enough, he only had gained 4 oz in 4 weeks!! So she told me to make sure that he's getting 28-32 oz of formula/day and switched heartburn meds from Zantac to Nexium. We go back tomorrow for a weight check and then make a new plan if he still isn't gaining.
Toddler is kicking my butt. Baby has been sleeping better this week rather than last week (except last night he didn't want to sleep in his crib). I think maybe he's doing a little better? Maybe. hard to tell when he's exhausted from daycare. And work has been crazy busy too. So sorry I've been MIA!!
DS is being a punk. He should be eating. I should be feeding him. Instead, I'm pumping while he sits and smiles happily. DNW to pump when I could be nursing.
I'm actually thinking that tonight, instead of having the nanny help me since DH can't be home, I'll solo parent to do CIO with Lucci b/c WE NEED TO JUST DO IT. It's DH who keeps caving and we are just not going past the 10-15min mark.
We went to see a condo last night and if we had not done it, DS2 would have been in bed at a decent hour and sleep would (I think) have been better. Instead, he got super over tired, didn't nurse well before falling asleep and then woke up to nurse multiple time and he also has a cough. So who knows what the issue is, but I am SO TIRED today.
Also, I feel REALLY bad. A girl I work with (she's in peds) gained A LOT of weight this summer and it totally looks like she's pregnant. Like REALLY looks like a baby bump and she looks tired. And I totally asked her when she's due She's not pregnant at all. My office mate tells me I'm NOT the first one to ask her. She literally looks like she's at least 24-28 weeks along!!! It doesn't help that she's walking around with crackers and water in hand! No one knows what's up with her, she's a tiny girl to begin with, so now people are starting to worry that she is sick and not telling anyone, which is her right, obviously. But I feel bad to have asked her if she is expecting.
mrsw062610, I hope you see better weight gain!! And that the Nexium helps and that overall things get better!
Sorry to those dealing with sleep issues and early mornings, I am right there with you. DS1 has decided that 6am is his new wake up time. Luckily he doesn't know how to get out of his room so I just tell him that I'm still sleeping and will get him in a little bit then turn of the monitor so I can't hear him. Problem is he usually ends up waking up DS2 and then I HAVE to get up.
Lots more wake ups with DS2. I want to do CIO because he doesn't need motn feeds anymore but I'm just not sure how to do it without waking up his brother. babycaps, how do you plan to do it?
Also DS2 is still being swaddled at night. He isn't rolling yet so it's not a safety issue but I'm wondering if I should take it away since it could become a sleep crutch. I will say the one night I did take it away he slept horribly and was up every few hours, but maybe I need to power through. Another side of me says don't fix what ain't broke. Thoughts?
babycaps , we started CIO in the evenings with DS. We haven't had to go past 5 minutes. This is in stark contrast with DD, who would go for HOURS. I think sometimes, it's more the kid than the method.
Also, when I was pregnant with DD, I was pregnant at the same time as another coworker (that I rarely see and never talked to).. Apparently, people kept asking if she was pregnant, and she kept saying no. She'd taken a test early on, got a negative, and just assumed she was bloated an constipated. She figured out that she WAS pregnant at about 6.5 months. She mentioned it to me at about 8 months, at which point I was like... girl, how did you NOT know? I knew she'd been pregnant for months. The denial was strong with that one.
Morning ladies! One work deadline down and one more to go. DH and I are having some hard talks about having a second. He keeps being all logical and my first reaction is to have all the emotions. Nothing needs to be decided now but it's still annoying...
Jax has been having such shitty sleep habits at night. I really want to start sleep training when he's 5-6 months. babycaps, do you just let him cry without offering comfort under the Weissbluth method? What's your threshold where you say ok this isn't working tonight?
k3am, agree. method might be coming into play, but he's DEFINITELY catching on that "crying means mom comes" because the minute he sees me in the room he stops crying! Like instantly! and then just smiles!
walkek85, We run a sound machine in each of the kids' rooms (my room is now the living room) and the two bedrooms are on opposite sides of the condo. And then on top of it, the HVAC fan is running so sounds are pretty muffled from room to room.
Re: pregnant girl, no, she really isn't pregnant. I just heard she has a bad thyroid issue and they can't control it! So now I feel double bad bc she just got married and WANTS to be pregnant.

I think I do a mix of Ferber and Weissbluth bc we go in at 10-15min intervals, but will soon just go up to 20-30min DEPENDING on the type of cry. If he's purple crying, I go in.
I'm kicking myself in the butt bc yesterday he was really just whining, not really crying. It's the coughing that tugged me in!
FTM's be prepared. Eventually, you may not have a say in what your kid wears. And your parents will send your kid clothes that your child ADORES - and they put it on with no argument, so you just quit fighting. And then your kid leaves the house like this:

Ha!!! I laughed so hard!!! Thank you for that!!
Two nights ago we had our first STTN... 8:30-6:30. I couldn't believe it, my boobs were leaking everywhere.
It didn't last, last night there was a 2am and 5am wake up. Naps have been good today though, so fingers crossed. She's getting better at putting herself back to sleep... which means I never want to transition her out of the PNP and into the crib...
k3am everything about that is awesome! DD1 leaves the house a lot in outfits of her choosing - we have been wearing Christmas leggings all summer long lol whatever kid
I just remember how I was before I had a willful child.. "How do they let that kid out of the house like that?!?! They're the PARENTS, they say what goes!" type thoughts..
Well, reality bitch slapped me in the face on that one.
babycaps, thanks - J quickly escalates into having a coughing/choking fit so I usually say ok not working right now. I need to follow up on the book 😕.
Question: just had 4m checkup. Dr recommends starting solids any time between now and 6months. We are going to err on the side of 6m. Here's the question part. He recommended rice cereal as the first food claiming it is the lowest allergen out there. Thoughts? My natural mind screams PROCESSED. Am I misunderstanding? Besides my sick addiction to chocolate, we mostly eat whole foods. How is it not the recommendation to start with an actual real food???
snoris, doctors are all across the board on the food issue. Some docs say 4 months, some say 6. Some say rice cereal, some say avocado. Some say hold off on exposing to allergenic foods, some say the sooner the better.
I would use baby oatmeal before rice cereal. I wanted to avoid all together and go right for the food but DD1 had other ideas and wouldn't open her mouth. She needed the oatmeal mixed with BM for something familiar taste with new texture and way of eating

snoris, I second what was already said about food advice being varied. We didn't do any "baby" cereals really except maybe a little bit of regular oatmeal with DD when she got a bit bigger. Her first food was avocado and we did homemade purées starting at 6 months. Research it and do what you see fit for your baby is my advice.

Our pedi did the same with A and I assume will with Cam when we go next week. I said okay but went home and did what I wanted lol His first food was avocado. Highly recommend. We never did give him baby cereal. Pics because well, cuteness overload 😉
Ok I feel a little less concerned now. Thanks! I'm really interested in baby led weaning but obviously not if it's against my pedis recommendation. If this topic is flexible I feel a little better doing my own thing. It's one of those things like bed sharing, I didn't want to bring up BLW in case it would horrify my pedi.
ellesea is next week your big week for treatment? Just wondering when I should start my extra love & prayers! My Aunt just finished her isolation period for her thyroid cancer treatment. It just made me think of you.
