DS's reflux was acting up yesterday so last night was rough. I asked H to help after I had been up a few times and he went and burped DS then got back in bed. DS kept crying and I told H to feed him and he refused. I was pissed.
Then this morning H came in and asked me for a breakfast order and made sure everything was ready for school. It was nice but I really would have rather had the extra sleep.
Clearly I have solids on the brain. Here's where I'm at...
At first I didn't want a high chair at all. The Montessori way would be a weaning table which is just a tiny child size table and chair that allows him the independence to get in/out by his own will. I get that, (and I have that for DC where everything is child size), but on the other hand he wouldn't very much be part of family meals at his own little table. A high chair would allow him to see the goings on, participate in conversation and see a model of eating but a traditional high chair doesn't allow that independence n
Is there such thing as a happy medium? A high chair he could eventually get in and out of independently? A step stool up to a booster style seat? We could all do a family floor table like Japanese tea style, but that's not our culture so not sure that's a relevant solution. Could also just rely on baby sign language so he still gets to choose when he gets in and out but I don't prefer that idea since I'm committed to the Montessori independence.
What do you have for high chairs? Have you seen anything that may be what I'm looking for?

DD is spending the night at the in-laws. I have to come back to work tonight so this will be DH's first night putting DS to bed by himself. he's freaking out, but he will be fine.

I thought you were home for a lot longer? Are you starting back up? I'm sure YH will be great 😊

fishbulb big hugs. I'm sorry for the crappy morning. I hope he makes it up to you this weekend!
DD has been napping for 3.5 hours... Her morning nap wasn't good so I'm assuming that's why but we also had to wake her up at 8:15 this morning which is extremely unusual. I hope she is ok because we are leaving town in 2 hours!

fishbulb, I'm so sorry!! @led, 1.5-2hr between. snoris, check out the stokkee tripp trap chair. We used ours for DS1 until he asked to use a regular chair. It goes from hair chair and converts to a regular chair and it's just awesome!!! You can use a tray or not!
We also have a 4hr trip at end of month.
Lo had his 4mo check up. It wasn't great on the weight gain front. He fell from the 14th down to barely 3rd %ile. I have to add a bottle on weekends and increase the ounces he drinks from bottles during the week. Sleep training is off the table for a while. I'm totally fine supplementing and not sleep training. I'm mostly upset I didn't take him in at 3mo when I was already suspicious he wasn't gaining enough. And angry at my boobs for not producing enough. He doesn't complain, I feed on demand, and he's totally going to be ok! But I feel like a shitty mom. Also, Allimentum formula is fucking $$$$.

snoris, @led I try to leave as soon as he wakes up from a nap and is fed. But sometimes that's not always possible. I don't worry if he has one bad nap a day. It doesn't seem to change his night time sleep.
babycaps I'm sorry, hopefully you won't have to supplement for long. I get the being mad at your body thing though!
I had to book an overnight work trip a month from now. At least I will have made it almost 5 months before having to leave G for the night. I think it was over a year before I had to be away from DS1 because I got lucky with a local project. It is inevitable that it will happen many times during G's first year. I'm worried about DH hearing him and waking up MOTN.

So glad it's Friday evening!
I worry about my H waking up to lo too. He's on his own for 11 days though, by the end of it he'll have a hard time sleeping through the crying.
How many g did he gain @ babycaps? If he gained at least 15-20 g per day on average I wouldn't supplement.
This is what I love about my pedi. She came in with calculation in hand and ready to show me because she knew that's probably exactly what I was doing while I waited for her! In 57 days, his average growth was only 11gram/day. Just NOT enough 640grams in nearly two months when we were hoping for at least 850-900gm for the low end of normal.
Now i just have to decide: Do I just start supplementing with 5-8oz formula per day on top of my milk, or do I supplement with breastmilk for now, knowing that then my freezer stash is going to go away very quickly and THEN add in the formula. I wonder how quickly my mom can send me Domperidone or if anyone she knows is coming from Brazil and could bring me some.
Update on my nephew... They were able to get all of his intestines in already! He had the surgery to close him up this afternoon and they said he is doing great!!! He will be on a breathing tube for a few days and then in two weeks they should be able to start trying milk instead of the IV! My sister is doing really well too!

Great news birkmmm! Sending prayers all continues to go well!
babycaps yes! The Tripp Trapp was one of the recommendations! Sounds like the perfect compromise! And ((hugs)) for being annoyed with yourself - obviously you're a great Mom. Don't dwell too hard on it. I'm sure he will be right back on track in a jiffy!

We have 30 more minutes left until we reach our destination. It has actually been a really good drive. Aside from being stuck for 40 mins behind a big wreck and a bit of city rush hour traffic, the drive has been okay. DS only fussed a few times. I tried to attend a conference call/video chat onIy made it an hour before I had to get off because it made me carsick. I barely made it to the bathroom at the rest stop before getting sick. That's some work dedication right there.
Sorry for the weight gain issues babycaps. Hopefully the supplementing will help.
MH and I are at a truce. Long story short, I need him to be less selfish and self pitying and help me more. He just doesn't want to adult lately. Sometimes I think he's going through a second childhood, though it's really a second adolescence because he complains about everything and can be a complete shit when he's in a mood.
The thing that was bothering me earlier was that in the heat of the moment this morning he said some mean things about my post baby body (nevermind that I'm back to pre-preg weight). I just ate two slices of passive aggressive FU pizza right next to him. It was delicious.
Or, as my in laws say... When their oldest was a baby my mil had to go into the hospital for a procedure and stay 3 nights. Fil was home with the baby. He didn't wake up. By the time my mil got back, baby was consistently STTN.
I would never recommend this. Just throwing it out there that it happened and everyone survived. And baby grew up to be a great person and awesome dad to 3 kids. So don't super stress over what's going to happen.
fishbulb 😱 omg. Totally NOT ok to say anything about your post preg body! I'm pretty sure if Mh did that I wouldn't have sex with him for at least a month. And probably never let it go. But I hold onto things like that.

I'm sure they will be more aware when they know they are the ones solely responsible for the baby.

Boo! Can you do a short course of Reglan (I know, not ideal) before your dom arrives? I would use your stash now, in the hopes that you can get your supply up and don't need to use formula.

I have a little bit of Dom left from DS1. So I would take that first but am also going to try herbal supplements and see if anything there helps. I have a history of depression. Reglan is not a drug I'm willing to take. I have to recall the Dom dosage. Do you know it?

Starting dose is usually 30mg tid. I'm up to 50/50/60 right now which is a lazy man's 40mg qid.
I also started goat's rue tincture which I think makes a difference for me.
