The other day I turned on our ceiling fans just so that my mom wouldn't see the disgusting amount of dust and dirt that had built up on the blades from being on all summer.

I've been trying to find video of my former team's performance last week (with no luck). I don't want to care, but...I really want to know if they did well.
I am totally over this house we are trying to buy and ready to walk away. It's been a month and we are still waiting on an appraisal that probably is not going to go our way. DH is the one holding out and it's making me feel all stabby. And keeping my house in show-ready condition with a toddler and a preschooler is stressing me to the max. So if anyone calls to show it today...I might tell them we are all sick and not tell DH. :-P
I'm completely addicted to the Great British Bake-Off. It's so hard to watch over here, so I've been neglecting other things and binging on YouTube before the episodes get taken down.

I've been inspired to write another by scrolling through my Facebook news feed. I don't have Snapchat (I think that's the app people are using), but apparently it allows you to add filters or whatever to pictures of your face, making you look like a dog, deer, etc. I think it is ridiculous. And very juvenile. Grown women are posting profile pics of themselves with deer faces. I just don't get it.

I rear ended someone this morning. I was lecturing DD because she forgot her backpack and we had to go back for it because it was her day to bring a snack, and Bam. Hit the car in front of me. And it is her birthday today.

Thankfully we are all ok and the car is pretty much ok and I don't think I did any damage to the other car. But damn. It's been a sucky week here and that just topped it off.

cinnasugar, so sorry! Read my narrative in "car insurance." If it's any more than a scratch, have someone qualified check it out. May next week but much better!
kleigh926 I have snap chat and didn't even know about these filters. I figured it out the other week and Mac happened to see. I have no taken a billion pictures of us as dogs, deer, with rainbows, etc. Not something I would do on my own, but it's so fun for him and therefore I will continue to do it since I love how happy he gets. People who do it all the time and post pictures of themselves doing it just seems odd.

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary. I was kind of bummed that my mom couldn't take our daughter overnight tonight after she said she would. She realized her annual condo meeting is tomorrow morning. She is taking her overnight tomorrow. I am kind of excited to maybe shop alone, and have some quiet.
The most exciting thing we did today was get new shoes for the whole family and to watch our wedding video as a family.
I'm exhausted and I'm already planning that k and I are going to spend tomorrow in our PJs, lounging and watching cartoons. Cheerios for her and coffee for me.
Yesterday, DS asked me why I like coffee in the morning. O told him, "because it helps me wake up." Pause. He says, "cereal helps me wake up in the morning."
The other day I turned on our ceiling fans just so that my mom wouldn't see the disgusting amount of dust and dirt that had built up on the blades from being on all summer.
I'm jealous you've been able to turn yours off. It's still literally 100 degrees here.

I have snap chat and use the filters. Mainly for DD1's fun. DH has it and uses the filters as well but that's because he's out of town and sends them only to me for DD1. I take pictures of DD1 and send to DH and another friend who does then with her DD1. I'm glad I downloaded it because my cousin is backpacking around the world and she's posting pictures that way. I also have very few clean dishes in my house.

My confession: I'm having a ridiculously hard time emotionally dealing with my friends' pregnancies or their TTC news. Please don't read this wrong. I'm so happy for them and wish them nothing but the best, but I feel constantly reminded that I can't ever go through that again. I can't even try.
One of my best friends has been trying for another for just a few months, and she's flipping out that they aren't pregnant yet, and saying things like she probably won't ever have another and what not, and I'm just sitting here with no effing uterus stressed out over our adoption process. I've been really depressed lately.
Just to clarify: I have no problem with people using filters to have fun with their kids, I'm sure the kids love it. I just have a couple friends who have posted several of them on Facebook or Instagram, one of whom doesn't even have kids so I know she's not doing it for that reason, and I don't see the appeal of that because it does seem like something made for kids, not adults to be playing around with. If I had snapchat I might do it with my kids to make them laugh but I wouldn't post a profile pic of myself or my husband as an animal. Maybe I should've made this a UO
@stormtroopooper I am so sorry you're dealing with all those emotions, I think how you're feeling is totally understandable. When we were having trouble getting pregnant with DD it drove me batty to hear people who hadn't even been trying that long getting so frustrated and dramatic right away. I can only imagine how much harder it is in your situation. Hugs

My confession is that I ran a google search and it linked to a rather popular forum (not this one or the one we migrated from). As I read through the answers, one of there people mentioned they lived in a small area I lived in for awhile. I clicked on the name and in her profile was a large photo of someone that I knew many years ago.
It was really odd. We weren't friends, but we ran in the same social circle. She always kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I declined when she once extended an offer that we hang out more.
I spent way too much time weeding through some of her posts realizing that my brief impression was probably a good one. She was not someone I would want to hang out with, but she sure spent a lot of time talking smack on the internet.
ETA it also made me super paranoid how identifiable I am here -- but I don't have a giant picture in my profile.

expatmama, I worry about identifiability, too, but I take comfort in the fact that almost no one in my country knows about TB, let alone this site, so people who would be able to identify me are in the US and I have almost no professional contacts there. They're the ones I'm worried about.
FFFC: Hardly flameworthy, probably, but I'm headed on a business trip from Thurs-Sun this week, and I am SO looking forward to it, in large part because it gets me away from the kiddo madness for almost 4 straight days and 3 wonderful nights. It's a topic I'll enjoy, I look forward to meeting some more people doing exactly what I'm doing, and the 7 hour train ride there and back sounds absolutely heavenly right now. I've been planning for weeks what books I'm going to take with me and just relax and read. If someone sits next to me and tries to talk to me I'm going to be ticked off.

Hugs Stormtroopooper. I'm not in your position but I can completely understand.
cinnasugar Sounds just like my week. We've had 3 major car problems between both our cars, one making my husband's car completely unfixable (he threw a rod through the engine).
Fffc: We were lucky enough to be given a car from a friend, but I'm crazy jealous that my husband's new "junk" car-the one my friends were going to scrap- is way nicer than my suburban, which still needs major repairs. He has working exhaust and a.c., but I've got 4 kids and a loud, smelly truck with barely functioning windows
This really isn't bad but it popped into my mind while folding clothes earlier.
Both of our kids really need me to swap their clothes out for the next size but I'm waiting until fall hits so I don't do it now for summer clothes and then have to turn right around and do fall clothes. So basically I'm lazy.
I also realized the other day that our little guy can handle 3T shirts (large but not ridiculous). So now I can pack one set of emergency clothes in 3T and know I can cover either kid
Post by brachysira on Sept 19, 2016 20:37:33 GMT -5
pinkie, yes, DD and DS both could wear the same shorts so for almost a year, I just packed those. Now DD says they no longer fit, so back to 2 pairs. But usually I don't pack anything and just deal with it however I can if something gets messy.
