I started having contractions around 1. We drove home from ikea and grabbed lunch and while eating lunch I had 3-5 pretty good ones that were nice and deep. I went and laid down around 3 and started timing.
About 8:30, I went down to eat some soup and they were 5-6min apart but still only lasting about 30-45 sec. At 9:30 they had picked up a bit more, but I decided it was time to head in since D was born in 6 hours.
Got to the hospital at 11, in triage at 11:30. I started wanting to push during contractions around midnight so the triage nurse checked me and I was 6cm and 80% effaced. Midwife showed up around 12:20 and we chatted and they moved me to L&D at 12:30. As soon as we got situated in L&D, I asked them to break my bag. Apparently I have bags of steel because both pregnancies were a struggle to break them.
She broke my water at 12:40, I almost immediately flipped to my hands and knees and the contractions were coming hard and fast. I started pushing when I felt the urge. Also pushed because I was throwing up. Turns out vomiting pushes are very efficient. He was born in 23min!!
The kept me there to monitor my bleeding for an extra hour and ended up giving me a bag of pitocin since my uterus wasn't tightening as it should. It worked great and they moved us to postpartum around 4:30.
Tl;dr: The short version is that he was born 2 hours after we got to the hospital and after 23min of pushing!
