Preschool drop off was a wreck. It was pouring. It is so rarely pouring that we don't have rain coats or a stroller rain cover. Everyone was sopping. But they stayed cheerful, so that's a "go kids!"
Trying an unswaddled nap for DD3. She actually fell asleep. Day sleep can't get much worse (well, some), so worth a try.
gratefulgirl in this instance it works to your advantage that kids tend to love the rain/getting wet more than we do. Good luck with the nap!
Hi all! Today is the one day a week the girls go to daycare. I have so many things on my to-do list. But first...coffee and enjoying DS napping on me. So nice to enjoy the baby without feeling guilty and trying to wrangle the other 2. 3 kids is busier than I imagined it would be and having a day to "decompress" is such a treat.
The weather is terrible here. I got soaked dropping B off at preschool. It was raining hard enough that I thought about just keeping her home but it's international talk like a pirate day so the kids in her class all dressed like pirates today

Also tons of rain and thunderstorms here. Going grocery shopping soon. At a BBQ yesterday I baby wore and it was perfect because not only was he hapoy as a clam but it stopped 18 people from asking to hold him! Lol
gratefulgirl mine loves to stretch his arms out so I only swaddle when he won't calm down lol good luck
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Everyone has cold (including the baby) so it's been rough.
I am really upset. DD1 spent the weekend with my ILs, who also had my nephew. Right after DH picked DD1 up last night, they took my nephew to urgent care and he was diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease. Wtf.
I am so mad. They claim he was fine until they noticed sores in his mouth after she left, but unfortunately there is a long, long history of my nephews being around my kids when they know they are sick, so they don't get the benefit of the doubt from me.
There is an incubation period of 3-6 days, so I think I have to keep DD1 home from preschool all week because I can't send her in and possibly infect her whole class because it's so contagious. I'm praying no one gets it, especially the baby. I am so upset.
joy, all 3 of mine have had reflux. They all arched their backs after or during eating and cried, and they also gag for a while after eating and stuff comes back up. The first two also had trouble sleeping flat.
DD1 and DD2 had silent reflux, so they had the symptoms but rarely spit up. DD3 spits up a LOT.
ETA: Zantac helped DD1 and DD3 but DD2 needed stronger meds. Hope baby feels better soon!
joy mine was arching the back, while throwing the head back, while screaming +10 times a day. Basically after every meal. Also screaming at any spit up. He still spits up A LOT but it no longer bothers him because the med neutralizes the acid in it.
I'm just not sure what's going on with her. She arches her back and throws her head back, but it's in between feedings. Maybe she's just stretching? She cries when feeding is over, but maybe she's just sad it's over. The crying is quelled by a pacifier. She's spitting up more, but maybe that's just life. The spit up itself doesn't seem to bother her.
It seems like it could be reflux or it could not be. Generally, she's just more fussy the past few days, but that could be due to any number of things. I can always ask her pediatrician and she has her one month (WHAT) appointment next week.

elm1214 I'm sorry that sucks! H and all 3 girls got HFM at once and it was no fun. Hopefully you all avoid it.
We are having our first normal Monday in a long time. Baby still has lots of tummy issues but I slept on couch whil3 she slept with H in our room. I got a total of 7 disjointed hours of rest and I feel like a new woman. Im ready for fall btw. 98 high today just is so demoralizing
ugh, I'm sorry elm1214. Let's hope they didn't know he was sick, because that'd be so crappy if they did - especially knowing you have an infant. Fingers crossed it doesn't plague your household.
joy - DD2 was fussy. She slept like junk from week 1 on. She arched during feedings (but I had OALD with her). Feedings were unpleasant because she pulled off so much. Time did not make that better for over 6 weeks, maybe longer. She cried when she spit up. We had a few projectile vomit episodes. She was insanely gassy. However she grew like a weed. She was also a grumpy kid in general until she could walk, after reflux or whatever seemed to stop. She was worst through 5 mo.
Oversupply, reflux, "just being a baby," tongue and lip tie, or other? I cannot say. Zantac and later Prevacid seemed to help some.

5 weeks and DD3 is clearly waking for her paci. I see her on the monitor moving her head all around for it. Whoever said babies don't form sleep associations until 13 weeks is crazy.
But what other soothing option do I have? She does not comfort nurse. Fingers make it into the mouth but she can't keep them there.

Ugh... DD1 still takes some soothing to get to sleep forher nap. I swear every day I get her 98% settled and then the baby starts crying. Then I leave her room and DD1 gets all worked up, undoing all my nap work. It never fails!

Ok sorry, another post. I hear that DD has actually settled herself for her nap. This happens about 50% of the time. Now the work crew outside starts jackhammering our sidewalk. Is this real life?!

elm1214 ugh, I'm so sorry. That really sucks. I hope none of you get HFM!
joy DS never really spit up much, but he would have these scary apnea type episodes where he would start to gasp for air and sound all congested. He was also difficult to burp, which can be a symptom of reflux. DD has the apnea stuff too, but she has actually started spitting up a fair bit. Nothing crazy. She also was having bouts of back arching and screaming for a while. She, too, is difficult to burp and, when she does, the burps sound very wet. DS1 just screamed. Screamed at the breast, screamed after eating, arched his back and screamed. DD's reflux seemed to peak right around the 1 month mark and has been steadily tapering off (knock wood) since then. She hasn't had any of those back arching screaming fits in a couple of weeks, and is now 7 weeks old.

I hate when that happens. On the one hand, I feel like I can't be mad, because mid morning is exactly when noisy things should be happening. On the other hand...REALLY. Just really.

Oh I forgot about wet burps and spit up in the nose (though DD3 does that too and no way does she have reflux, just piggy overeating). We had that too. Also intense difficulty burping, which I never knew was a symptom until today.

Hmm. This sounds a lot like Baby I. She sounds congested a lot, especially at night when she's lying on her back. I only notice the gasping for air thing when it's accompanied by the high pitched sound that her pediatrician says is normal. Burping is rather hit or miss with her.
I put a folded towel under the bassinet mattress last night to prop her up a bit and try to minimize spitting up (as it's worse when she's on her back). I'm scared she's going to choke on her spit up. I also feel terrible when I realize it has come out her nose. I'm reintroducing the Rock N Play, which is going well, so I can switch if it helps.
I'm just so unsure. I just want to help her feel better and sleep better.
DD has been choking a lot when she eats. She always recovers quickly but it freaks me out hearing her gasping for air. Google says OALD but it's never in the beginning of a feeding, always after she's been eating for a while. We do have a pediatrician appt tomorrow so I can ask them about it.

Mondays are always rough here. My DD1 usually sleeps in but they do the lawn work here on mondays. So they're trimming the hedges outside the bedroom windows at 7:30 am which wakes DD1 up and by her nap time they've got their lawnmowers going in the back yard.
In other news, DH's car broke down last night. We dropped it off at the mechanic earlier to find out what's wrong and in the meantime our family of four has to squeeze into my tiny two door car. Hopefully it's a cheap fix or IDK what we're gonna do.

So true. For me, it's elderly neighbor doing lawn work right outside our bedrooms. Lay the kids down - not 2 minutes later, hear him fire up his riding lawnmower. Then his push mower. Then weed whacker. Then leaf blower. It's a 3 hour ordeal, done at least twice a week. Why does it never fall on a day when we're gone!?
