In the past 3 hours R has been actively nursing for over an hour and a half and I just had to let him go to the other breast again.
He starts fussing as soon as he unlatches but it seems like there's not much coming out at this point. I've been burping him between sides too so I don't think it's gas.
I'm assuming this is normal potential growth spurt type behavior, but someone please make me feel better. My supply has been great so far, and his diaper counts are good, but this is making me feel like he's not getting enough.
He's getting enough. This is the frustrating part about nursing. He's trying to signal them to make more. I know it's hard, but just let him nurse and nurse and nurse. I'll usually switch every hour when they start cluster feeding like this to allow the other side to stock up a bit.
My 3do seems to be a fast nurser and it knocks him out so I rarely try the other breast. I think he'll want more when he's bigger. I'm also nursing hourly in spurts, especially overnight

Hopefully this isn't the case for you, but be careful assuming LO is done just because they fall asleep, I thought DD might be this way but it turns out she's just sleepy and having trouble with milk transfer so she shut down and went to sleep after one side every session. We've had slower weight gain since she was falling asleep so rapidly every time we nursed.
LadyNymeria I have no doubt that you're producing enough if he's having wet/dirty diapers. He's just letting your body know that his tummy is bigger and is ready for more milk. Totally normal and totally sucks for mom.

K was like this too. I didn't realize it was happening until her first weigh in when she'd lost all that weight.
Do any of your babies take pacifiers? If so what kind? Was it hard to get them to take it at first? M spent a large chunk of the night sucking on my finger. I tried giving her a pacifier we had but she wouldn't take it. Maybe if I could get her to she would actually let me put her down?!
Maybe put a little breast milk on it? Is it small enough? We haven't used one yet, but last time we tried the wubbanub. DS1 ended up being a thumb sucker, which I love because I don't have to replace it when it falls out. This time I picked up a dr Brown's one but we haven't pulled it out yet.

We've been using a Philips Advent one. We started with a Nuk (the one Motherhood Maternity gives out with purchases), but the Philips more closely matches a finger or erect nipple so we switched to that one.
ETA link since Philips had more than one type in the Advent line

We use a Nuk 0-6 month which she will sometimes take. I'll be honest, I only offer if she's really fussy during a diaper change and I take it out as soon as she falls asleep.
My 2 year old is paci obsessed and I would love it if baby never needed to take one.
Eta: with babies, I offer a bit of the nipple of the paci first until she can suck it the rest of the way in. Too much nipple will cause her to gag and too little will activate the tongue thrust reflex.
We've been using the MAM pacifiers but neither baby will keep them in for longer than a few minutes. They're the smallest and lightest ones I could find and have worked well for this last month. We have the Avent Soothies (like LadyNymeria posted) and those didn't stay in at all. I think they were too heavy for their liking. But now that they're a month (what! How did that go so fast??) old, we'll be trying those again.

I've been giving him Nuk pacifiers... he doesn't like them regardless of the brand, but sometimes it helps with his fussiness, so I force them on him.
But how do you force it on him? I tried kind of holding it in her mouth, but I have no clue what I'm doing. My first never needed a pacifier. I checked the brand and it's playtex. Maybe I'll try another brand?
I pretty much put it in and hold it there. If he gags I'll back off a bit. He seems to like it once it's in, but it's the initial "this isn't a boob" we've got to power through. I've tried Dr. Browns and the Avent ones, too. He doesn't seem to have a preference at this point, but we've only been using them for a week or so.
We tried the avent today and he used it for a few minutes but I think he prefers his hand. I just needed to try because sometimes pacifier use can help them nap longer.

I pretty much only use it to buy me some time or try to calm him during diaper changes too.
Last week we had a day with a lot of visitors and I think the paci was getting shoved in his mouth when he was actually looking to eat. I realized this at the end of the day and felt horrible.
So now if I need to pee, change his diaper, grab something I'll give him the paci. Otherwise I try not too use it too much either.
My breasts better not get any bigger than they are today (pp day #4) because I could barely pull my nursing tank over them. I'm super scared of engorgement because it was so painful last time. Need to wake a sleeping baby to make him feed again or I'll be stuck hand expressing to relieve the pressure

We've been using a Nuk pacifier. She usually only really takes it if she's nursing for comfort.
I was really engorged with rock hard boobs for about 4-5 days then my supply leveled out and my boobs got soft again. Then I think true supply regulation is after the 6 week growth spurt.
I'm pumping for the first time right now after feeding the babies at 6am. Trying to start build up my freezer stash. I was so worried I wouldn't get anything since I tandem feed both babies every time but I got about 3 ounces each side! Maybe I'll just pump every other day so I don't create a huge oversupply.
I'm so jealous of everybody getting big amounts when pumping. I've been pumping the side DS2 doesn't nurse on in the morning and get 1-1.5oz. Which I know isn't bad for him being a month old, but I would love to have some more in the freezer. Thankfully I have plenty of time before work, but I want to be able to get out of the house occasionally without DS2!

NJgirl84 lovetit for commiseration.. I'm in your boat.. I can get more if I pump both at night after bedtime but only about 2 oz still. I am nursing both sides each feeding and only get about 0.5-1 oz. I'm mostly pumping to try and keep my supply up since E isn't good at draining me.
