E's poop has recently become more smelly, too. It was sweet-smelling for the first 5 weeks or so, but recently it's become smelly and changed to green and mucousy and he's spitting up more and very gassy... so I've omitted dairy... hopefully it helps!
I'm gonna post this on the bf board too but I think I may be screwed. I rarely pump and when I do, it's after a nursing session so I get maybe an oz between both boobs.
Last night A took one boob and fell asleep before she took the other. It had been 6 hrs since she nursed on the other side so I pumped. I only got 2/3 of an oz. I'm so sad. Am I doomed? I was really enjoying nursing...

I don't think you're doomed at all. The baby is more efficient than the pump so don't count on your pump output to be a true reflection of your milk production.

Thank you. I needed to hear this. I should also add I'm an underproducer so if I'd have gotten 1.5-2oz I'd have been pleased. Any more than that simply isn't in the cards for me. Just seeing those 20mls really was disheartening at 3am

I'm in the same boat. I know the other day on my best day I produced somewhere in the neighbourhood of 13 oz for DD since gained 5 oz and I only supplemented 200 mls.
However when I pump, even after she's been off the breast for 6 or 7 hours I get about 10mls combined between boobs. I really just dont respond to pumps.
I posted on the BF board, but figured I would ask here too since there are so many STMs.
I have been dealing with nipple pain since DD was born (She will be 5 weeks old on Friday). At first, we had latch issues which we have since fixed, but around 2 weeks, my LC and midwife both thought I had thrush based on hearing my symptoms and the midwife prescribed an APNO. I used it up until yesterday (about 2 1/2 weeks) but felt like it wasn't improving the condition of my nipples any further. At this point, my nipples only hurt when they are hard, but it radiates into my breast. It also hurts when DD first latches, but once she is feeding, I don't have pain. Anyone have any idea what I should do from here or what could be the cause?
Me: 28, all tests normal DH: 34, very low count, motility, morphology DX - MFI 11/14/09 - Married 01/01/14 - TTC #1 01/06/15 - Started working with RE 04/06/15 - Recommendation - straight to IVF w/ICSI 09/04/15 - Started working with new RE Nov/Dec 15 - IVF w/ ICSI #1 - 11R/8F - 1 transferred, 3 frozen

Does the tip of your nipple turn white when it hurts?

On my left side, a small spot does. Not the entire tip.

I had the same thing happen to me when I nursed my first. It is called vasospasm, sooooo painful! Mine was due to a bad latch that caused nipple "trauma" the Dr prescribed me an ointment (I'll have to go look at what it's called) to help heal, I had to start applying heat several times a day and work on his latch. Anytime I would get a bad latch, even for a second, it would prolong the issue. Once I did all this it completely went away. This article I found is really helpful: kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/nipple-blanching/
I also have some nipple pain, sometimes just at the beginning, sometimes the whole session with residual pain when he's done. But my intermittent let down pain is worse, like my breasts fell asleep and now they're all pins and needles.

I had that same letdown pain. Sometimes it was even like I had a cramp in my boob. It did stop doing that a few weeks ago. I hope it stops for you too!
For those BFing & pumping to build a freezer stash, when did you start pumping? I thought you weeks supposed to wait a few weeks to let your supply regulate before adding pumping sessions - is that right? LO is 2.5 weeks, & I'll be going back to work at 16 weeks, so I'm starting to think about adding a couple pumping sessions morning & night but don't want to start too early.

caz1221, I'm 6 weeks and just starting to pump occasionally so we can give E practice bottles. I plan to pump during her morning nap 2-3 times a week but not every day at this point. I didn't have a huge stash with DS when he started but was able to build it up pretty quickly once I started work since I pumped more than he took (hopefully it's the same this time around!!).
Thanks, jennybeans. With DD, I was never able to pump as much as she was drinking at daycare (& she was drinking a reasonable amount - I just don't respond to the pump very well), so I was glad that I had built up a freezer stash before going back to work. I'm hoping to do the same this time but want to make sure my supply has regulated so I don't create an oversupply issue or something.

I'm going to start at four weeks, which is tomorrow. Hopefully, this little one won't mind frozen milk like DD did. Otherwise I'll be donating again. But pumping still helps to make sure I'll produce enough to keep pumping week when I go back to work next year.

The general recommendation is to wait until 6 weeks to start pumping. If you do start earlier than that, I would only start with one pump session in the morning. Oversupply sounds like a good thing but it can increase the risks of engorgement, plugged ducts, mastitis, etc.

caz1221, DS2 is 3 weeks tomorrow and I started pumping this week, just a session in the morning since that's when I'm most full. Eventually I'll add an afternoon or evening session too. I want to get a head start on my freezer stash for when I go back to work. I forgot how much I absolutely hate pumping

Is it possible to have thrush affect only one side? Or would it be more likely to be latch issues (due to nipple shape) causing one-sided pain?
The right side (that had the sore a couple weekends ago) still hurts when he latches. Sometimes there is some soreness/tenderness during and for a short time after nursing, but not always. My left side doesn't hurt at all, but per the LC DS latches much better on the left due to nipple shape.
Idk if I should be assuming the pain is just the latch issue, or if I should be looking into thrush.
ETA: There's definitely some pinching on that side when he nurses due to the latch trouble.
LadyNymeria I've never had thrush but from what I understand you would probably know if you had it. Baby would probably have some obvious white spots in mouth and your areola gets dry/shiny looking. I think the pain is pretty intense and doesn't go away after initial latch? Again, this is all just things I've heard so I'm not positive. I still have a trouble side too (I'm assuming due to nipple shape, I had problems with the same side with DS). It hurts with initial latch but doesn't hurt after that, but is still slightly uncomfortable.

Thanks danizee. I haven't noticed anything in DS's mouth and I'm not THAT uncomfortable. So maybe it still is just latch troubles. I'm hoping it gets better once his mouth gets a bit bigger.
