Guys... I can't believe we are so close to having babies who point and talk! I LOVE the pointing phase... so stinking cute.
I love the babbling. M goes "dadadadadda da da" for ten minutes straight. It's so cute! We're working on signs with her, but she hasn't picked them up yet.
dizzycooks sleep now girl! You have to get it in while you can :/ I'm sorry this is happening. My DD has also regressed in the sleep department and it is super stressful and hard to deal with. Add me to the list of ladies whose H will sleep through all the screaming in the world..I'm amazed every time. She flinches and I wake up. She is louder than "a dump truck going through a nitroglycerin plant" and he is snoring away....

14joa31 I hope you enjoy Brussels and that you and YH enjoy the kid free vacay!
NellieOleson I know! I seriously love the baby babble.
Sorry for everyone having crappy sleep!
I'm having a glass of wine in the tub and am catching up with everything. E's 8 month pictures are tomorrow and I think I actually have my schedule arranged so that I can go. I start back on a crappy work schedule this Saturday so not feeling guilty about taking an hour or so off. Crazy that this Saturday is already October! I need to get some fall plants for outside. Finally ordered some new lighting for the house and hoping to have downstairs ready to go for Christmas and then E's birthday (😳) at our house. Little E is a crawling, standing, creeping, babbling little machine. I love how busy and into things she is these days, but yeah, not a moment of down time in these parts.
I've asked on some of the other boards but she's doing this solid strike thing right now. We've been back to basically 100% breastmilk for the last week and counting. She was a good little eater previously. Anyone else have experience?
scorpioscuba, ugh the preschool mama drama sounds...pleasant. dizzycooks, im totally empathizing with the worsening sleep. Even putting him back down with the bottle isn't helping. NellieOleson, hope y'all get settled back down at home. Glad you and YH got some time together too! Lollipop, I hope you get the answers you need from your dr. (((HUGS)))!!

Is she teething? Have you tried different textures or softer foods? Not sure what she was getting before the strike but I did notice once DD's teeth started poking through she wanted softer stuff and flat out refused firmer things. She ate spoonfuls of bolognese sauce last night and really enjoyed split pea soup the other day.
Also, can't believe she is crawling and standing so well! So adorable. DD wants to crawl but hasn't quite put it all together yet. SaveSave
Thanks for all of the support ladies. I will be talking to my doctor ASAP. And hopefully I'll get this under control. S deserves better than I'm being right now.

AFM, I'm on a one night work trip - my first night away from baby. I pumped three times in my car today. I missed seeing him at bedtime and I'll be happy not to pump so much, but I'm pretty excited about the 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep in front of me. Night ladies.

Lollipop, I hope your dr can help so you start feeling better soon.
I have not gotten one minute of work done the past two days because I've been mediating this stupid preschool mama drama. I'm so ready to quit but I think the preschool director might kill me if I did.
In awesome news, for the past week DD3 has been consistently waking up only three times a night - once around 10 just as I'm going to bed, once around 2, and once around 5:30 but she'll sleep or stay content in her bed (I don't know which and don't care) until 6 or even 6:30 then.

My poor baby is flipping out in her crib right now, and I feel terrible, but I'm about to lose my shit with her in my bed constantly these days. She has turned into the most annoying sleeper... waking up and demanding to be nursed if I even change position a little bit -- even if she just nursed an hour before that. She absolutely won't settle down without a boob in her mouth and just gets more and more worked up. It is beyond frustrating. I need to move sometimes, baby! My shoulder is getting fucked up from lying in the same position all night long. I want to be there for her and I don't mind going out of my way to provide a safe and comfy night for her, but this current situation has reached its breaking point.

Also, Very Important Question:
Do you guys store your glasses right side up or upside down in the cupboard?
My FIL unloaded my dishwasher (awesome!) and put all the glasses he put away upside down. It totally grosses me out when the rim of the glass is on the bottom of the cupboard, not to mention the glass smells musty inside when you go to use it. Am I a total weirdo about this?
NellieOleson glasses right side up! And you are providing the best sleep environment for your kiddo. It's just not the one she wants right now. Doesn't mean it's no the best for everyone... at least this is the pep talk I keep giving myself! Hugs

NellieOleson, glasses right side up. Keep strong on the sleep situation - you know what's best for both of you in the long term even if it ticks her off right now!

NellieOleson right side up! My MIL did the same thing when she visited, I think so that the glasses don't get dusty inside? We store our glasses in a cabinet and use them every day - they're not getting dusty.

Our glasses are upside down per Dhs request. I don't love it. I randomly ended up with a jjcole diaper bag for $20 bc I commented on the bin behind the counter at BRU and said I'd take the bag off his hands (he was commenting how they get returns they can't sell). I'm hoping it was a good deal? Retail price was $90. I've never had a diaper bag before.

Thankfully, the doctor thinks he just has a persistent case of pinkeye and not allergies. I mean thankfully because pinkeye we can cure.
I think he is going to skip the army crawling. He tends to sit on his butt and pull himself around that way. Whatever works little dude. He can cover a surprising amount of ground that way.

DD1 and DD2 never army crawled, DD3 is now and it's new for me
Also the DDs get pink eye as a follow-up to about 50% of all other illnesses they have. Cold? Pink eye. Stomach flu? Pink eye. Our pedi said some kids get ear infections following other illnesses and she'd prefer pink eye because it can be treated with local antibiotics. So there you go. Silver lining. I hope he gets over it soon!
Lollipop - huge creepy internet hugs to you! As the daughter of a clinically depressed mom who would go off of her meds on purpose and then basically ruin everyone's lives - can I just say that I'm so thrilled that you are going to see your doctor?? You are success story to me. NellieOleson - glasses up - don't they get condensation or something if they are face down? dizzycooks - my ILs come out and watch my kids when I travel for work twice a year. It's a beautiful arrangement - they get to see their son and their grandkids ... and we don't have to see each other Everyone is happy!

I'm thinking maybe teeth? Who knows? Nothing visibly showing on top yet and her bottom two were so anticlimactic. She was eating homemade purées, chewing on fruit sticks, avocado, eggs, hummus, guacamole, beans. She's always been all about the boob but at least ate other things.

Can you upside downers explain why? I think the way the inside of the glass smells like cupboard is extremely icky. Looking at you silverspoon and Lollipop.
I was thinking dust, but if they are in a closed cupboard getting used, how much dust could that be? I rinse out any cup or glass that has been sitting in there a long time, but for daily glass wear I have never found it to be a problem.

So. Dd2's GI fluoroscopy results were good and she doesn't have any blockages or anything. Her stool tests were normal, too, so it appears her constant vomiting is just a severe case of reflux. I'm happy she doesn't need any invasive medical intervention, but at the same time bummed that we just have to wait it out.
The actual imaging thing was so sucky. They put her in a tiny hospital gown and then in a miniature radioactive tent thing and pumped barium down her throat with a giant turkey baster-sized syringe. She flipped out, of course. She was choking on it, refusing to swallow, flailing and screaming. She had white barium liquid pouring all over her eyes, ears, hair, etc. It was crazy.
Worst part. Apparently I went a little "nose blind" I thought I had the dogs pretty well bathed. But after falling asleep for a bit and then stepping out to the living room where they are sequestered. Turns out I was wrong. Our apartment may never be the same. ETA words

That's just how my mom always did it. Probably because her mother and grandmother did. I assume because of dust. I know my grandmother didn't have cupboard doors until I was like 10, so her cupboards actually did get pretty dusty, especially when combined with the ash from the wood stove.

NellieOleson, I double checked this morning and they're upside down. O.O I'm guessing DH did that at the beginning of our marriage and I just went with the flow. I'm not that picky about a lot of kitchen things (e.g. where the spoons/forks/knives are in relation to one another in the silverware drawer). And I bet he did it because of dust.
For the bizarre story of the week, I had a very strange conversation with a woman yesterday. I went to an international cafe thing in our town that's supposed to bring together the new refugees and the "regular" folk. I met a woman there for the first time (a German). She was pretty obviously pregnant and mentioned something to another woman. Here's how our conversation went:
Me: Will this be your second? (I had seen her talking to a little boy before.) Her: No, the third. Me: Oh! I have three, too. Her: It was an accident. Me: ... ... Oh, well, ... I enjoy having three (seriously - what do you say to that? sorry?) Her: Yeah, I had left the father of my older two, which was for the best, and then after a bit I got a new boyfriend and then ended up getting pregnant right away. Me: ... mm-hmm... Her: No, definitely not planned, but now we're getting excited.
Then she went on to say how she had sold all her baby stuff, and I said that we're done and are looking to sell our baby stuff, so we exchanged contact info and maybe it will work out, which is nice, but still.
I mean, not that she needs to hide the story, but *maybe* it's not the way to introduce yourself to someone new? I felt like it was a huge overshare for a first conversation. Agree? Disagree?
crimsonandclover - that conversation would also be TMI for me. But some people just tell you incredibly personal stuff when they first meet you. I love being in the grocery checkout line next to someone who is sharing their entire medical history with me... at least this TMI was interesting!! NellieOleson - I am sorry to hear about your LO's bad reflux, but I am glad that it's nothing more serious. FX that she outgrows it sooner rather than later!!
