Got brave and tested- negative. I'm completely fine with that right now. Just not sure what my body is up to. Busy day today with lots of driving. Hope you all have a great day!

Today is the big event I have been planning at work. I am exhausted but it will all be worth it if everything goes well. Let me just make it through today!
I woke-up with day-2 soreness from my long run on sunday. H is still waiting to hear about the job; he thinks maybe he didn't hear yesterday because the guy hes been working with works tuesday-saturday. they certainly know how to drag this out, I need to move forward with my life and have something to develop a plan around; things have been up in the air for more than a month now and I feel like I can't make any decisions about anything until we know what direction things are going.
I'm in a funk. I'm worried about my brother. I have a constant headache from wearing old glasses that aren't strong enough, and I don't like the way I look in them so my confidence is taking a hit daily. My cat has pooped all over the house five times in two days, and the vet is out of the office until tomorrow so I'm sure it'll happen a bunch today, too. Work is stressing me out. I'm exhausted. I was up with C from 3:30-5, went back to bed for a half hour and had nightmares, then got up to shower. MH woke up later than usual and C woke up for the day - screaming - while he was showering so I had to go get him and wait for MH - wound up being almost a half hour late for work and didn't pump on the way in so I was sore and leaky when I got here. I am ready for things to get better now, please and thank you.
Sorry geners, do you think you could lock the cat in a room (bathroom?) with a soft bed, water, and a litter box short term? as far as the glasses go, what about some new frames? Totally get that they're expensive, what about someplace like Warby Parker where you can at least get new frames in your current prescription for less than $100. I hope your day gets better!
gdaisy09 I really hope you hear something today! Is it too early for your H to follow up to see where they're at? The waiting is the worst.
If he doesn't hear anything by this afternoon I'll encourage him to follow-up. if they really want someone to be able to start by mid-october (which is kind of impractical to begin with) we need time to get plans in place (likely involving trying to track down child care and me making alternative work plans). I mean it seems like they can't hardly expect him to start so soon when it's taken them more than 6 weeks to make a decision, they certainly don't seem to be showing that they need to fill the position urgently.

Cleaning day today, my favorite day! Too bad it means the baby has a crappy first nap. My H is taking Thursday and Friday off so I only have to make it today and tomorrow and then it's the weekend! Hooray!

That's a good idea. If it happens again today I think we will have to enclose her somewhere, the basement bathroom would work. Which will really freak her out. But I'm getting really overwhelmed thinking about the germs that are getting tracked all over the house, on the floors C is crawling on. We clean the messes as soon as we discover them but idk, the whole house just feels unsanitary to me right now and the smell just isn't going away. Oh and the last one yesterday was on the light beige shag rug in the family room. Gah.
I actually just ordered some new lenses (in my current prescription) and super cute frames when I was at the eye dr. last Thursday. They are purple Kate Spades I had some money left in my flexible spending account so it didn't cost me much out of pocket, otherwise it would've been Warby Parker for sure. They should be here later this week or next week and I think that'll help matters!

oh she'll probably be miserable, but in an enclosed space (who knows, wishful thinking) she might actually decide to use the box. totally hear you on the ICK factor. have you tried Nature's Miracle for the smell? it's an enzyme based cleaner. Yay, hopefully your new glasses are ready soon. that reminds me that I need to get my sport glasses updated, my insurance will cover one set of lenses a year and I haven't used it yet this year.
Hugs mistabinx, I totally get how you feel, during the week I'm all alone with LO after work and it really feels like there's no time for anything. I've started making sure that H and I cook two good meals over the weekend and I'll double or triple the portions to make sure there are left-overs for the week (so I eat leftovers every night because who has time to cook a whole meal for one person). This week we did a big batch of cheese tortellini on sunday and I cut some of that up for LO to have for finger food last night. this $#!% is hard, and no one can do it all, you're doing a great job.
geners sorry you're having such a rough day! Do you have a carpet cleaner? We just got a little carpet steam cleaner and it's been so great for the cat and baby messes!
Thank you for the support and suggestions, it makes me feel a little better to know it's not just me. I'm feeling overwhelmed but giving myself some time for a pity party and then my goal is a game plan to test out this weekend. Making double portions on weekends is a good idea. Since it's so quiet at work this week I'm going to try to come up with some meal plans.
Cooking Light has some good 30 minute or less meals.
mistabinx before I left on my trip I made 4 different meals to put in the freezer. My H will eat them while I'm gone, but it made me more motivated to this when I'm home. It seriously took just a few hours to prep. I'm going to try to do this more after my trip. I feel you on the evening crazy!
mistabinx I'm reading Parenting magazine (I have time to read a magazine this week!) and there is a great article about working moms. Also found this sample meal plan.

mistabinx You are not failing as a mom. I think parenting always feels like that no matter what your situation in life. And I think parents that feel like that are probably doing a great job.
Finger foods I have done in the past include crackers, frozen veggies, cheese, bread plain or with toppings like peanut butter or cream cheese, could also toast. Birds eye has this really great noodle, cheese, broccoli thing that's stovetop but it takes like 10 minutes to make. It's not super cheesy. Bananas are a staple for us.
Here's my 2 cents on the dinner thing. I think people have this perception of what family dinner should look like and it's just not true for most of us. I SAH and I definitely don't cook all the time. It's very discouraging to cook meals and then no one eats them or they complain for something else. Anyway, your kid is fed, loved, and well-cared for. What else do they need, really?

mistabinx Yea I think that ideal dinner is nearly impossible with little kids especially for families with two working parents. There's just not enough time in the day! I feel like a sit-down dinner will be more important with older kids, and probably still nearly impossible!
geners I'm sorry you're having such a rough day so far. Hopefully being able to confine your cat in a smaller space will help. You can definitely still make it comfy for her and it will only be short term until she's better incase she doesn't love it.
How is the situation with your brother going? Have they been able to find a suitable treatment plan for him that they can start to put into action? I'm sorry for the stress this is understandably causing you. ((((((Hugs))))))
I think what constitutes dinner at our house is very vague. Just another meal. We usually don't eat anything fancy. And have found a few things that we can make quick. The only other thing I might suggest is making whatever your cooking a lot of such that you can also feed it to your LO- no making separate meals! The biggest thing is making sure the salt is not too high (you can always add salt to your taste at the table). But yes, being a working mom is HARD. No if and or but's about it! Big hugs!
gdaisy09 hopefully they tell you something soon. I'm sure the limbo you are in not knowing is stressful. Fxd you know something soon so you can get on with making preparations.
DoesItComeInPink how'd the lip tie procedure go? @tifga FX for the ped appt! geners hugs!
Cardiologist appt done. Went well considering we were wrangling two little kids. Everything looked fine. Now we wait for DH's genetic test results and go from there. Next up, the allergist. Please please please give us direction!
mistabinx huge (((hugs))) to you. Every mom has those moments where they feel like they are doing something wrong, not enough etc. You do the best you can for your lo and your family and I'm sure you do a wonderful job. Just think of all the wonderful things you are providing for your lo. I'm sure it is overwhelming balancing everything and I hope you can work out a schedule that is easier for you. Just the fact that you worry about being a good mom shows that you are a great mom. ♡

So I have a funny story. My kids love balloons. We never buy them but the grandparents are indulgent of course. We keep them until they don't have enough helium to stay on the ceiling and then we have to stealth throw them out while the kids are sleeping.
Well when DD1 turned 4, she got a giant balloon shaped in a 4. That thing lasted forever. Finally I asked my H to get rid of it and he just put it in the garage intending to pop it later to throw out.
Later that day, I opened the garage door and of course the stupid balloon escaped and started floating in slow motion up and over the house. I was thankful that DD1 hadn't seen it because it went in front of DS's window and she's very rarely in there.
I go run my errand. Come home to find out that she had watched the damn balloon float away. She was very upset. So that sucks but surely she'll forget about it, right? She doesn't talk about it anymore at all. Today she drew me this picture:
I asked her what it was and she said its you Mommy! I asked her why there was a red X over me and she explained that it was a picture of me and the balloon I let out of the garage.....3 months ago. It's a no mommy drawing. Ok then.
I wonder how much therapy they'll need because of me?!
minor mommy win for the day (and probably jinxing myself here too) I haven't had to change a poopy diaper in more than 2 weeks! all poop has happened on H's watch.
13liza thanks! I think I need to subscribe, haven't heard of that magazine before. I could use some tips, obviously lol
I like it because it's got good articles and it's pretty real life- like the article about working moms started off by saying how everyone has this idea of a perfect family and that's just not reality.
geners sorry you're having such a rough day! Do you have a carpet cleaner? We just got a little carpet steam cleaner and it's been so great for the cat and baby messes!
I don't... we have mostly tile and hardwoods, but we do have several big area rugs that were expensive, it might be worth getting a steam cleaner... what kind do you have?
