On a semi-related note, I'm doing my first milk donation. A semi-local mama has triplets born at 34+4, so I'm going to free up some space in my freezer.
I am irrationally territorial over my milk, so I'm happy it will be going to newborns. I think that between the other 2-3 mamas she's getting milk from in our city, she'll be picking up close to 600-700oz.
Huge hugs to everyone who needs them! We are in DC for our layover! On our way to my family's house for the week! Ryker did awesome on our first flight and I sat next to this old man who was so sweet and talked to me about how awesome it was I was breastfeeding 😂 our next flight is only 1 hr so I think we'll be good !
Oh yeah and Ry had a total blowout like 1hr into the flight ... all up his back I have no clue how it didn't get on me but I somehow ninja cleaned it up and changed him

I feel like that's an unwritten rule. That babies have to have blow outs while traveling! Glad you survived unscathed!
Hi ladies! I'm so annoyed - I forgot my pump parts so I have to hand express which is major bitch.
babycaps, I really like the Milkmakers Lactation cookies. They're pricey AF but I've seen a difference with production since starting them. I've been having 1/day for a few months now. I also take the Honest Co. Lactation Plus pills daily.
Speaking of breastfeeding a woman I know from church has a baby about a week ago. It was a "surprise" baby so there's a seven year gap between her and the next oldest.
She's beginning day seven and her milk hasn't come In so she's panicking. The amount of thoughtless "blaming" comments just shock me. Someone commented "jokingly" that this is what happens when you have a baby when you're old. Someone said "did you know only *insert percent* of women can't produce milk? What are the chances you're in that percent?" My comment was more along the lines of you need to do what you need to do to take care of both of you. With the number of the LC I used just in case.

@dandeb925 I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something as I left the house this morning. I forgot my pump parts, too! Luckily I had recently started keeping a spare set at work. I miss my pumpin pals, but this is better than nothing. I learned my lesson as a FTM, when I worked in a small town that had nowhere to buy replacement pump parts and it was too far to drive home. The spare set of parts has served me well many times.

I have a second set of.. everything at work. Bottles, pump parts, extra storage bags. I have needed everything except the pump parts at some point so far, so I imagine those will be needed at some point eventually.

I'm sorry about your supply babycaps. Will you continue to breastfeed at home even if you switch to formula for daycare or do you think your supply might drop when you stop pumping? That must be such a hard decision to make. I didn't have a choice and I really struggled with it, but my lo is doing so well on formula and that makes it much easier to accept.

Hi, it's been a busy couple of days here. We did a little sleep training last night and DS2 was asleep on his own in his crib with his arms out of his swaddle in 9 mins. We were going to do 10 min checks but never needed one! He then woke 3 more times in the night, I fed him each time and put him down in his crib and he cried for 30 secs and was out each time other than the 4:30am feed when he cried a bit longer. Then this morning he went down for a nap again awake in his crib and he was asleep in 8 min. We had a bunch of appointments today so the rest of his naps were in the carseat but we have been pleasantly surprised with how things have gone so far. I don't want to stop him from eating because of his weight gain (see below) but we want him to fall asleep on his own so I think we have a good plan so far.
As for weight gain, I weighed him on the home scale yesterday and his weight gain sucked. I wanted to weigh in advance of today's 4 month appointment so I was prepared with a plan. The pedi was concerned about his weight gain but was happy with my plan. Our plan is for me to pump a couple times a day and give him what I pump in the bottle. Also to start solids as soon as we see signs that he is ready. I'm happy with that plan. He also got his vaccines today and did really awesome. I'm sad about his weight gain and having to supplement again but for whatever reason this kid (and DS1 too) just can't effectively get the milk out. I've pumped a few times now after feeds since yesterday and got 1.25-2.25 oz each time which I'm pretty happy with considering I don't pump ever. I know that will go up as I pump more often. He's been refusing the bottle though and I've only got 3 oz into him today so far. I'm hoping he will take 2 oz after his before bedtime feed. I'd like to get at least 6 oz a day into him.
babycaps, remind me how much your pedi wanted to you supplement?
DS (our little Clomid miracle) born Sept. 25, 2012 Baby #2 lost at 8w3d on March 4, 2015 (EDD Oct. 11, 2015) Baby #3 lost at 5w2d on April 16, 2015 (EDD Dec. 15, 2015) Baby #4 lost at 4w1d on May 20, 2015 (EDD Jan. 25, 2016) DS2 (our little rainbow miracle) born May 25, 2016
mrssqueegy, originally, pedi wanted us to add 1.5oz to each of the bottles he takes while I'm at work (for a total of 3 6oz bottles). And on weekends, breastfeed on demand and give an additional 6oz in bottle (breastmilk or formula). However, I found that an additional 4oz after I nurse him at bedtime is also necessary and he is falling asleep MUCH happier. So his wake-ups at night are much more regression related than food and he's eating less at night.
Right now he's taking 15-18oz in bottles while I"m at work and then he nurses before bed and gets an additional 4-5oz bottle and then anything he wants over night up to 7am is from the boob.
On weekeds, I breastfeed but this past weekend he required an additional 10oz of bottles for happiness! My supply is REALLY dwindling no matter how much I eat, drink, pump, supplements and such.
ellesea, I will continue to bfeed as long as it's not frustrating to him! He is happy on the bit of formula he's getting now. #feedinglogistics #fedisbest #comingtoterms!
Sorry about the weight gain issues mrssqueegy I can sympathize. DS hasn't had stellar weight gain either. I'm hoping solids at 6 months might help since he is so nosy about what we are eating lol
Sorry for the supply problems babycapsmrssqueegy but glad you're figuring it out and have a plan! My pump output today sucked. Yesterday wasn't great but today was the worst day I've ever had since returning to work. I'm trying to chalk it up to natural ebb and flow. Last week was some of the highest pump outputs so I guess it's time for a dip.
DS is having a rough night. I was rocking him in the nursery with the lights off and he took his pacifier and chucked it. Now he wants it but I'd have to then the light on to find it. Sorry kid 😂
