MH got me Nutcracker ballet tickets for Christmas! It is my favorite of all time (hence Clara! 😉)! I found out because I got the mail yesterday and the tickets were there! I am so excited!

@justinslovo, feel free to vent to us! I always felt that way about my grammy growing up. I was the oldest, but I was never "special" like the other 3. My brother was the only boy and my 2 cousins lived 4 hours away so it was always a celebration when they were in town. It was just another day when I was over or did something I thought was great.
I am not looking forward to going home for lunch. SFIL is watching DS there today instead of at him and MILs house because their cleaning lady is there. I use my lunch time as "me time" most days and today will not be that. The house will be a wreck, I'll have to watch Paw Patrol instead of Desperate Housewives, and SFIL will want to talk non-stop instead of just leaving me in peace.
I should be grateful that we have someone to watch our kids for free, but it comes at a price sometimes.
I don't think I understand how lovies work. Can you pretty much pick one toy and force it on your kid as their lovie or do they just randomly select one thing to be their favorite and start carrying it around everywhere. People keep telling me to buy back up lovies in case the original gets lost but with my luck I'll end up with back ups for the toy my kid doesn't care about and she'll get super attached to some random stuffed animal that I can't replace
Hold off on buying all the lovies and back ups. Some kids just dont care for them. My DS never did and still doesnt have a favorite toy. Also lovie generally refers to the little soft blanket square with an animal on it.

Sorry again for not being around much! I was diagnosed with a UTI over the weekend after finding blood in my urine. I am allergic to penicillin I am on a really nasty antibiotic called macrobid. So far it isn't as bad as Biaxin which is what I am normally given, so thats a plus. It seems to be working so far but I will need to confirm it has cleared on Saturday.
obi I hope your UTI clears up quickly! I'm taking macrodantin (same antibiotic you're taking, just different name) 1x/day for the rest of my pregnancy to prevent me from getting another UTI/kidney infection. It makes my stomach a little off, but I take it at night so I can sleep through the worst of it. It's so much better than the cephalexin I was taking initially; that shit made me so sick when I was on a 4x/day regimen.
I was thinking of you after my appointment. I'm glad you're finding 1x a day to be manageable. Im 2x a day but only for 7 days (unless it doesn't clear) and I cant wait to be done with this crap. Tmi but I have found on top of the stomch yuckiness that it has made me super gassy. I feel like a swamp creature lol.

Yep, it comes with a whole host of digestive issues! I'm a bit more gassy than usual, but my main complaint is that I'm either constipated or dealing with borderline diarrhea.
My LO is 17 months now and just has started being attached to things. About last week, he found this soft blanket and calls it "beepee" and loves to carry it around. He also is attached to a large piece of styrofoam that he says is a "train." It is precious now that he is getting attached to stuff but yeah I would not go crazy with buying loveys and such.
Plus that is a verrrry popular baby shower gift for those of you who have that event ahead of you.
So after having to put $900 worth of work into our CRV (purchased 1 year ago..it's a 2012), we just went and spent $700 on supplies for the basement, then got the call that our 2nd car needs $500 worth of work to pass inspection (yay for mine & H's bday being in the same both = 2 registrations and inspections). So the fact that I'm about to spend $200 on a completely elective, and not necessary, u/s is stressing me out a bit. Thank god for savings accounts, is all I can say!
Sooo. I have a swing from 1998. No joke. I found a Mamaroo on Craigslist for $100 tags still on it. Do I do it?!
I'd be hesitant to pay anything substantial for a mamaroo. My kid hated it and from what I've read, he's not alone. It moves really slow, not like a swing at all. I'd probably look for a used or cheap swing instead!
ugaqueencity - +1 to everyone else. DS never got attached to any lovey or toy, despite serious efforts on my part! I wouldn't worry about those for a long time. If you ever find one LO likes, you can always order extra at that point!

I had a random question this morning, but I've lost it. I'm coming down with a cold DH gave me (which he got from his co-worker, who sounded miserable...joy). I leave for a work trip tomorrow. I need a nap.

I'm feeling... not well. I feel crampy and almost like I could start bleeding/spotting at any second. I am also exhausted. Not being able to walk or exercise is really f'ing with me.

I'm sorry make sure you're getting lots of water. Are you ok with light walking? Even just to the street corner and back could be refreshing if it isn't too much strain on you.

I'm not sure. I'm hoping to clarify some of my restrictions with my OB on Thursday. I didn't get to talk to her when I was put on complete pelvic rest and the nurse that did my US felt like walking any more than normal for daily living would be considered too much.

Thats such a tough place to be in, I'm sorry. Im sure that I would be very frustrated by it. I hope you get clarity at your appointment.
My kid has two dolls that she has become attached to, but that was after she was a year, maybe 14-15 months. They are handmade dolls that my MIL made, so no backups for those. I keep very close tabs on them when they go on trips with us.
At work, can't wait until 7pm then I have 4 days off!!! Want to spend some time in the sun to try and cover all these zits, but then I think the melasma will rear its ugly head.... Which is the lesser of two evils?!?

Okay, so I didn't get the lovie thing until I had NICU babies. They actually have ones made by a volunteer group that they give to the parents. What they have you do is wear the little lovie under your shirt against your body for a few hours or a day.. you bring it back the next day and they keep it in the incubator next to the child. That gives them comfort because it smells like you and you can't spend 24/7 at the hospital so you have to leave them.
Olivia still sleeps with hers nightly. Alexandria lost hers about six months after she came home from the hospital but had already adopted her blanket by that point.
Honestly, it was such a huge comfort for them that I'm already shopping for one for this little boy. I plan on doing the thing of keeping it under my shirt during the day once a week or so and letting it comfort them at night when they are in their .. whatever we choose to have them sleep in first.
erinshelley21, honestly, I'd drink a lot of water, find something to distract my mind, and keep my butt planted. I know it is so hard.. trust me, you know I do. I wasn't even allowed to sit up. My mil ( an l&d nurse ) wanted me put in a trendelum.. which elevates your hips above your head! You can do this. It seems like forever, but it isn't. ~huge hugs~
