She's actually sleeping tonight and here I am wide awake. Ugh. I wish I could take sleeping pills or something. Right now the only thing I have that works is Klonopin and it may cause dementia with continued use so I'm afraid to take it. I need sleep, though. Can't wait for the weekend so Blake can be here and I can maybe get a nap!
Happy Thursday! The bishop of our diocese is visiting our school today and celebrating mass with us this morning. It's so exciting, but everyone is in a flurry with preparations! Plus tomorrow I am taking the afternoon so whoo!
What is appropriate for using school playgrounds? Only when school is not in session? Only if nobody is using it? Or depends on the school/area?
Our playgrounds are open only when school is not in session. If school is in session, you have to check in as a visitor in the school office to use it.

Until two weeks ago, the playgrounds are locked during school hours and open for community use the rest of the time. Now the one by us is locked. 😞 I keep meaning to have DH ask on nextdoor if it is intentional or not since they just replaced the fence.
Where I grew up, there was never any ability to use them.

That would never be okay down here. Our schools (and their playgrounds) are all behind locked gates. The only unlocked door is the office. Visitors are allowed in to volunteer but other children aren't allowed to come with them. I think the best bet is to call your local school and ask.
Oh wow haha! Ours are wide open & the public uses them all the time on weekends and in summer. I just didn't know if I could go before/after school or even during school hours if it wasn't recess time. Guess I'll have to call and ask!

I am feeling overwhelmed. The house, my work, I know the holidays are creeping up on us. I want to try and start losing some weight but don't know if I can add one more thing that needs my focus!!!
Also my MIL is driving me batty. Thats a whole other post/vent.

After school is probably okay. This is how ours was before the new fence was put up, we used to go all the time.
During school hours is more than likely going to be a hard no, especially when you consider the playground is usually in sight or at least hearing distance of the classrooms and would probably be distracting to students there.

we just got back from DS's 4 month appt. they are concerned about his slow weight gain again, I just don't understand why he isn't gaining. they are formula pushers and i am afraid they are going to make me start supplementing again. I'm just so frustrated, i thought we were finally in a good place.
ellesea, FX!!! snoris, the playground at our elem is open to the public when school is not open. After/before/weekends! It's one of our favorites!!! kateisoptimistic, our pedi just asked us to supplement with either breast milk or formula. Our choice. Can you supplement a bottle a day extra breast milk? But better yet, is he following a consistent pattern on growth curve? Or falling off his own curve?
We are en-route to Iowa. About half way there! So far so good.

My kids are being assholes today. They are all fighting sleep and if one does fall asleep the screams of the other two wake them. They don't care that mommy has a ton of things due over the next week.

I don't want to jinx it but after about of month of sleep regression, we might be slowly getting out of it 🙌🏻 1 wake 2 nights ago, 2 wakes the next night and NONE last night! However, DS has a bad cough and cried out almost every 2 mins last night so I brought him to our bed. I think I got less sleep than I have been lately even with DDs sleep regression 😔 Always something lol. But hubby is at the dr with DS to see if there's anything they can do or if it needs to work it's course.

kateisoptimistic, can we help you trouble shoot? I have tons of suggestions for slow weight gain. For us right now, I'm pumping 3 times a day which will help my supply and giving him what I pump up to 6 oz per day. I'm also on some herbs and domperidone (which I've been on for a while). What kinds of things have you tried? Can you post his 2 month and 4 month weights? Tell me to cool my jets if you don't want my advice too. No pressure!

I totally want advice! thank you!!
I've been pumping since he was about 4 weeks old, he had some issues with weight gain in the beginning which we think was due to his tongue and lip ties. We had them fixed and he is now able to nurse normally and was taking 3-5 oz per feeding (i was doing weighted feeds), so i stopped pumping and bottle feeding.
He now goes to daycare so i pump while at work and he gets 3-4 4oz. bottles per day at daycare and then i nurse him the rest of the day and night. I get anywhere from 2.5 to 5 oz per pumping. I take herbs, eat oatmeal and lactation cookies.
he was 11.13 lbs (30th percentile) and 24 inches at 2 months and today at 4 months was 14.1 lbs (15th percentile) and 26 inches.
He is growing and gaining just not at the rate they would like. He empties my breast and typically seems satisfied.
They didn't say i need to do anything yet but i have to go back in a couple of weeks to check. When he originally had issues with weight gain they wanted me to supplement only with formula and not using breast milk. I gave him formula for about a week to supplement and then used breastmilk instead. I would like to not have to give him a bottle at night time to avoid middle of the night pumping, but will do what i have to obviously.

he does get bottles during the day at daycare. I guess i could give him one more bottle a day - will just need to pump in the middle of the night ughhhhh

@kateisoptimistc I'm sorry for the news at your appt. I hope he gains more weight so you don't have to supplement. mrssqueegy gave some great advice so I don't have much else to offer aside from a virtual hug.

I have had a great day! Music class was fun as always and then DD and inner my friend for lunch. We sat outside since the weather rocks and DD and my friend's baby fell asleep so we sat outside chatting while the babies slept for two hours. It was so relaxing and peaceful.

kateisoptimistic, wtf with supplementing only with formula? Your doctor is dumb. Fact.
His weight gain is borderline. I calculated him to have gained an average of 17 g per day based on your weights, assuming there were 60 days between weights. Normal is usually 20-30 g per day. So he's really close.
How often are you pumping at work? Can you get in an extra pump per day (not at night), what about a pump after he goes to bed in the evening? How many hours are you away for? Could you also nurse him an extra time, maybe in the evening?

I agree, I still don't understand why they said formula only..dumb
Anyhow, I pump on my way to work, 2-3 times at work and in the way home from work. I also pump once after he goes to bed already.
I do feel like daycare might be able to push an extra feeding if I ask them. I send 4 bottles and he rarely takes all 4. If I ask them to make sure he gets all 4 they can probably do it. He just takes long naps so he doesn't usually need it.
