Gosh I am exhausted. Did everything on my list, and vacuumed the third floor and tidied the kitchen. Finally sit down and DS1 wants me to play Minecraft with him.
B has a project due tomorrow that I completely forgot about. We have to build a family totem pole. Ughhh I don't wanna. Isn't this what I pay daycare to do? Hahaha. I know I know, lazy mom status over here.
Preschool aka parental homework is my least favorite.

I get irritated at preschool homework.
That being said, S1 has a homework box each week that he brings home. I really like the format. Each week it's something different; it's a little activity stored in a pencil box. Last week it was cutting (scissors and paper with straight, curved and zig zag lines provided; the week before was a reading and matching game. This week was letters and stringing. You don't have to turn in the work so you and your kid can do it once or fifty times and no one is pressuring you either way.
Effin CVS. I sent pictures for 1 hr pickup and it told me they wouldn't be ready until tomorrow at 8am. So I went over and did the print in seconds from my phone- huge pain in the ass. I get home, 3 mins later I get an email that the order i placed earlier is ready.
We're done. And I'm having a beer to celebrate. The other sides are the letters of our last name (which is 5 letters so perfect!) and blocks of paper B drew on. She did most of the work!
Oh so I had DH on the phone in the car through Bluetooth. He mentioned that SD was off of school one day for Rosh Hashana. B thinks it's like the coolest name ever. She's been randomly yelling Rosh Hashana all day.
Just out of curiosity- how long does it take you to get your baby to sleep and into bed?
Some nights it takes me so long!!!!
Depends on the night. Sometimes it's terrible and she takes forever to fall asleep (like we seriously try for an hour) and some nights she's out in 15 minutes. Haven't figured out why. So no advice, just solidarity here.

annbuhdan, lately it's taking like an hour every night.
DD was in bed and started fussing, so I picked her up and she totally soaked us both in spit up, including her only swaddle sack (kept forgetting to order more). So I have a feeling it's going to be a looong night without it.

Well, tonight was two hours.
Morning naps I sing to her, place her in her crib, walk out, and bam. She sleeps. Bedtime? I try to settle her while simultaneously running interference with the big kids if DH needs help (or vice versa) and we repeat for a long time.
I look forward to the day when we have a nice solid nap schedule down so we don't do this crazy build up of over tiredness throughout the day that newborns do and bedtime gets smoother.
Well at least I'm not the only one with a long bedtime here. For me, it's tough getting her out enough to put down. I'll think she's completely asleep, set her down, oh hi, eyes are wide open...

maybe you're trying too early? Mine gets fussy right at 7pm and we actually make him stay up whining til 7:45. By then when I do the bedtime routine and put him in the crib he is exhausted and konks right out.

DS woke up this morning with an insanely stuffy nose. I don't know if he's too cold in here and I need to turn the heat on or if he actually just caught a cold? It's 67 in here and he's in fleece jammies so I hate to turn the heat too high but might have to?
DD is still sleeping a lot of the time, and naps wherever, whenever. She spends a fair amount of time in her carseat or the Moby though. Now I am self conscious that I am doing it wrong...
Although, WTBS, she is ready for her bath and bed at 730 and goes right to sleep, no shenanigans, and stays asleep until 8 a.m. (she wakes up briefly to eat through the night)

I have one of the younger ones, but also starting to get worried I'm doing something wrong. DS sleeps a lot and whenever. And I haven't started a bedtime routine yet. He still goes to bed when I do. I do start PJs around when I'd like his bedtime to be and turn down lights. I'm trying hard not to crazy about bedtime this time around. DD was so rigid with her routine that it was hard to be out past her insanely early bedtime (she went to bed at 6:30 until over 1).

Right now I am operating under the "Don't fix what isn't broken" rule

Ds2 also naps whenever wherever. We are out and about a lot and he often sleeps in the carseat. If we're home, he's awake for about an hour after eating and then falls asleep.
At night we are still putting him to bed closer to when we go to bed so that we can make the most of his long stretch of sleep. We feed him at 9:30 or 9:45 and then he goes to sleep.

When did everyone start doing a bedtime routine? We may be letting DD run the show a bit more than we should. We've just been operating on when she eats and then trying to get her to sleep after with no way times... She is 5 weeks as of yesterday.

Our routine is just kind of based around the older one, who goes to bed at 7:15ish. H will hang out with the baby while I put DD1 to bed. After that, I take DD2 to the basement so we don't have to worry about making noise. We play, talk, sing, maybe try tummy time. Then I do one last diaper change, swaddle, nurse, and attempt to put her to sleep. Sometimes she falls asleep after eating, and other times I end up walking or bouncing her for a while. My bedtime goal is usually 8:30.
It took me a while to figure out what works for us. She's almost ten weeks now!! (Sob)

With my first I think I started around 6-7 weeks..and only because one night I did bath, bottle, bed and she gave a super long stretch so I wanted to recreate that haha. This time I'm gonna see what DS does. He eats before I go to bed and goes 3 hours sometimes 4 hours between feeds..so I can't complain. Plus it's too hard to try a strict routine with both kids.
