I'm feeling really homesick right now. I miss living near family. I wish I could go over to my MILs house and have her watch Ridley so I could sleep. I wish so badly that I had that. Not so badly that I would ever consider moving back, but still. I really hate that Ridley is going to grow up barely knowing her grandparents and that I'm missing out on all that potential support. Ugh.
I've apparently hit the super emotional part of sleep deprived. Fun.
Hugs it would be hard to not have family close. As much as my inlaws drive me a little batty, I appreciate having someone I trust to watch him. I'm already dreading when she's in Florida because my other trusted sitter (my BFF) is due in November lol
Also, I'm being a PW today. Sorry about that. But I'm really procrastinating. It's been a rough week at work, I haven't slept, and I'm still sick. Perfect storm.
PW away
I agree! I love when people pw because then we all chat more lol
Ohmygoodlord. Everything is fine I think. I'm still looking st a little red lump on his noggin but it doesn't even bother him when I touch it. I called pedi for peace of mind. As I was calling I tried riling him up a bit so I could say for sure he was acting himself and he was a limp noodle. Not that I've tried waking him up from a nap since his first month, but usually he's crazy easy to wake up. Obviously I had a major panic attack but he was alert and smiling by the time the nurse came on the line.
I mean, I accept this kid is going to get bumped, bruised, probably a broken bone and certainly a broken heart. But that was scary as hell. Thanks for the quick responses. You girls are the best!

One of the high schools near here sent home a white privilege survey and there's a news report about it. I made the mistake of reading some of the fb comments and now I just want to scream and cry and rage. Ugh. People are awful.

I'm teaching a class on race next semester. I kind of want to see that survey. That could be a great teaching tool.
We just made plans with some friends and their daughter to go to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. We've taken J to the same place every year and I'm excited to get A in on the tradition this year.

They list where it came from, but I think they go over it in the news report if you want to watch it. I haven't seen it, though, so I'm not sure.
o2girl I need this onesie you speak of. I'm also impress with W's skillz. One would think that means you're almost out of the woods. I mean, how many new tricks can one baby learn at a time?!
Baby I has some new tricks as well! He's rolling back to front and grabbing intentionally now. He's very interested in food all of a sudden and grabs for anything on the table. Definitely a supported sitter now. He's great at baby sit ups! Still regressing over here though. Last night sucked.
if like her to learn the sleep for long periods of time skill....... But I don't think it is on her radar. You win some, you loose some lol

so scary! I've almost tripped and feel with W..... Even the almost freaks me out, so I can imagine how you feel!
@led I just read about R from yesterday's randoms. So scary, I'm glad you were there and it was only for a few seconds. But still, that is terrifying. I think I'd be taking your MIL up on her offer to buy the owlet!
snoris I haven't fallen with either kid but I have had a lot of close calls and even those get my heart racing. How scary. I'm glad that he seems to be acting normal.
My first night at home was crap. Lo was up 3 times, once for 30 minutes. I'm not sure if he's regressing or if it was just a bad night. I think it was just a bad night because when he woke up at 4, he wasn't really hungry and only ate 2 oz so then he was up again at 6 because he was hungry. I'm going to offer him a 6oz bottle at bedtime and his first wake up and see if that makes a difference.

Adorable! In the late 80s this was a fashion fad, and often the dogs were paired with red plaid. My mom used to have westies, so we bought her everything we saw, for Christmas and her bday, because we thought she would absolutely love it. 30 years later we had a good laugh with her about it. She said she probably wouldn't have bought them herself, but she wore the westie wardrobe proudly, because her daughters picked it out for her. I still love the westie clothes and it makes me think of her.
H is being bizarrely difficult in terms of what he's wearing to cousins wedding tomorrow. Usually he asks me which suit and tie and goes with it. This time he asked me and decided to do the opposite.
I recommended navy blue suit (goes better with my dress) so he decided he wants to wear his grey one. And he flat out refused to get out his ties.
I'm a little confused but I figure I'll be covered in drool and spit up so he can do what he wants. It's not like we are in the bridal party lol
Ridley has faked out bedtime twice now. She gets fussy, eats like she's going to sleep, then starts eating her hands and giggling instead of falling asleep. I feel like this night will never end. And I already took a sleeping pill. Brilliant.

As I was reading your post I was nodding in agreement/commiseration. Then I smiled at the giggling because I love baby giggles and DS although smiley doesn't giggle often. Then I saw the part about the sleeping pill and groaned.

Naturally
Right? I've been afraid to take anything for two weeks now, and of course the night I finally decide to take one she's being a pill.
Gwen is now rolling back to belly. The last to roll belly to back is the first to go the other way, go figure.
I bet it's so fascinating watching all three hit milestones and see who hits what first! I have questions!
Who is more verbal? Who moves the most? Do they have favorite objects/activities yet?
I'm just fascinated by your life!
Damian is the least verbal. The girls take turns on who is being the most verbal. We can sit them together and they will talk up a storm. Damiam occasionally joins in with them, but not often. However he is the easiest one to get giggling.
Damian used to move the most, but the girls are taking over. It might have to do with the weight difference or that he started teething first so tummy time became chew the hand time for him.
Laurel lives for Peekaboo and enjoys their playmat. Damian loves musical toys and blowing raspberries. Gwen likes grabbing her feet, books and things that spin or have a mirror on them.

My kid is going to bed with no dinner for the 4th night in a row. Eventually she'll crack and eat... Right?!?
Ugh, let me know if she does! We bribe ds1 a lot to get him to finish dinner. And by finish I mean start, and maybe eat a 1/3 of it.
We haven't found a bribe that works. Unless it's Mac n cheese, PBJ, or nuggets, she refuses to eat.
It's gotten annoying. We've told her she needs to eat ONE minuscule bite of anything we serve and we'll cook her whatever she wants. And she still refuses, so she must not be very hungry?

Is she like that at daycare too?
Ds1 is really easy to bribe, we've also pretended to put him to bed if he full out refuses to eat. You don't want to eat, you go to bed. That always works.
