Oh I 100% believe there can be pain with getting teeth in. It's the chewing and drooling that automatically makes people say "Oh is he teething?" Well yeah sure....he's been "teething" for just about 6 months now, but no teeth yet?
roseinbloom that manipulating thing is so wrong. Babies don't know how to manipulate at 6 months old. That's just insane to me.
I wouldn't say that it's manipulation just a basic understanding of cause and effect. K knows if she cries and raises her arms then someone is most likely going to pick her up which she wants. She's not manipulating, she's just trying to get her needs met in the way she knows how.

Yeah, but her pedi called it manipulation. Doing something to get your needs met is one thing, but it's not like babies are purposefully giving you a hard time right now.

Oh yeah, I agree. I would never call it manipulation and I side eye a pedi who does.
I also answered but didn't vote. I'm always on mobile so I don't see polls. But I had a wisdom tooth fully come in, it was not messing with anything and not impacted so my dentist let it go, it hurt a lot, then the other one got infected as it was coming through, so I ended up having that one removed and the other one pulled. (Bc you all want to know about my teeth... lol...) I have had several other oral surgeries, braces and a lot of other stuff. Teeth stuff definitely hurts! Also a baby cannot be manipulative, that is absurd.

And I'm the opposite - all four of my wisdom came in without being painful. The extraction on the other hand...
My pedi said drool and putting things in the month is not a "sign" of teething, it's what babies do at this stage. She said the gums will get swollen before teeth pop through.
Guys, this is not a drill, W has the very tippy tip of a tooth peeking through! I think he still trying to cut some as goods gums are very swollen, but I'm just happy to see some sort of progress. His gums have been swollen for over a month and we just got a tooth. Have I mentioned how much I hate teething?!

This is us too!! Gums so swollen but that tooth keeps disappearing back inside.

I couldn't figure out last night why V was ripping small pieces of paper off a USPS box and eating it (fed her right before, offered once I caught her and she refused), but this morning her first tooth has cracked the surface!
So add shredding a shipping box to teething signs?

So I voted no teeth but it now looks like she's about to cut a tooth. I can see it and feel it. I'm afraid my oldest was weaned before her first tooth. She didn't gets her till 10.5 months.
I have a feeling we have more teeth on the way. A's latch has seriously changed and nights have gone to crap again. Top gums look a bit swollen. Hopefully if they're coming, they pop through soon.

LO has 2 teeth and we are still nursing away. She bit me once and it hurt but they can't nurse and bite at the same time. She did it when she was really upset and I was trying to nurse her. Some LOs never bite but there are ways of preventing it if it's a problem. It doesn't interfere with regular nursing at all though.
