We're so close to a year!! Who is still here?
I'm still here but oh man between the tender pregnancy nipples and her biting, I'm dying over here.
Anybody have successful tips for a persistent biter? With DD1 I just had to take her off and say no with a stern face like 5 times and she got it. DD2 seems to know it's bad, she looks to me for a reaction and she'll cry when I say no and take her off but she keeps doing it! She drew blood the other day and I had to tap her on the nose like a dog yesterday just to get her to release my nipple! I never wanted to do that but she was clamped right down and didn't release it when I yelped at her! It's super sore today and theb this morning she bites me again like it's whatever. I'm so gun shy to nurse now. I literally feed her with my finger right there to stick into her mouth if she does it again.

Yikes! littleredfish I have no tips but that sounds super painful. DD has only bit my nip once and ouch!!
AFM, I'm still here. My supply has gone down some. I'm consistently only getting 9 oz while pumping at work, but still have enough between my morning pumps and during my days off. My stash is still big, so I'm really excited to have made it this far and feel confident we will make it past a year!
For those of you giving bottles of BM, how much is your babe drinking? DD is still drinking 5 oz.

I'm going back to work in about six weeks. I'd like to continue breastfeeding mornings and evenings though. Should I get try to get him used to long periods without nursing? He is doing well with eating solids but looks to nurse before naps and bedtime.

It couldn't hurt to try bottles during the day when it gets closer. Good luck returning to work.

I rarely check in here but I'm still here.
littleredfish, did your supply start dropping immediately once pregnant? I've only been getting about 2oz each during each pump at work, only enough for 1 bottle. I've been pulling from freezer stash, which isn't much of a stash. It'll be gone in a few days. Probably going to need to supplement with formula

We have been giving 4oz for awhile. I think she'd drink more if we gave it

We were still nursing every 2 hours at that point as she's an addict compared to how her sister was. It did dip quite a bit at first and I panicked but then I weaned her down to 4 times a day and we've been totally fine since. So either it fixed itself coincidentally, or I'm just not making milk as fast and that extra time makes it work for us. She was super frustrated at the boob but this way seems to make us both happy.
I'm still here but I feel like I'm barely hanging in there. L lost weight between his 6 month and 9 month appointment. So I freaked out and started pumping. I never get more than 2-3 oz per side. He still nurses every 3 hours and all night long.
I started taking supplements and using Brewers yeast to help increase my supply. It seems to have worked because L gained a pound in one week. Thankfully! I felt like I could relax some.
My goal is still 18 months. I'm hoping we can get there. At this point, I will be happy to get to a year and then whatever happens after that point is fine with me.

Hugs @babylentilbean !!!
We are here!!!! 10 months and my goal is 12, I'll be happy with anything after. We are definitely going to make it. It makes my heart so happy.
E has bit a handful of times but she seems to get it. But.... now that her top teeth are coming in/are in, it's definitely more sore!
Left stays my solid producer. I don't get more than 2 out of right, 3 Max. I'm pumping 2x at work and I get ~11-13 oz. Most days she drinks 2 5-oz but sometimes 3.

Still going strong! C has never had a drop of formula or WCM to date. I'd like to keep it that way until at least 12mo. I pump 2x/day at work and usually make just enough to cover bottles for DC the next day. I'd like to move down to pumping 1x/day but still a little scared. I just feel like I need to empty my boobs and don't want to put myself at risk for more plugged ducts or mastitis (again!).

yummeecookee I'm going to start moving to 1 in Nov. Or when she starts only taking 1 bottle. I think she'll probably stay at 2 until she eats more food than she throws!!!

sunfrogger88, do you mean how to literally wean from bottles to sippies or how to wean off nursing?
Bottles to sippies. How does that work with DC? Do I send 3 pre-filled sippies to my moms with her? She throws her cups a lot
What I did was send 1 sippy and 2 bottles. I'd ask the teachers to help my DD if she needed it and also let me know how she did w the sippy. Eventually I moved to 2 sippies, 1 bottle. Then all sippies. By December she was totally done w bottles. Honestly, she never had any issues. I know some babies really have a hard time w it and cling to bottles. I hope C is just as easy.
I haven't sent him w sippies yet, but I have introduced them at a few meals here at home. He seems to get it, so I'll prolly try soon.

We are still BFing. He's 11 months and some change. My supply has dropped quite a bit. We are down to on average 4 nursing sessions total a day. Once when he wakes up, once mid morning for his nap, once before afternoon nap and once before bedtime. Occasionally I throw another one in after his afternoon nap and before dinner if he's extra cranky.
I do wonder if he's starting the beginning of self weaning at nighttime. He used to nurse until he fell asleep or I popped him off because he was sleep-eating. He sometimes will end it on his own and then I lay him down and he goes sleep. I'm torn because if he is, then that makes it easier on me to cut the nighttime session since I've always heard that one is the hardest to end. But I'll be sad when we are done BFing for good, despite it being an up and down journey.
Still going strong here. Days from 11 months, I'm sure we'll make it to 12 and still goaling for closer to 18. Already down to 4 times a day and 1/0 overnight. When I have a babysitter her bottle is usually 4-6 oz depending on the day. But she is great with solids so I don't worry about it. She still doesn't have any teeth, so hopefully that doesn't send us off track. Weaning went so easily with DD1 I'm nervous to see how it goes without pregnancy drying up my milk and forcing the issue...
Still going here too. I always said I'd never nurse a kid who was walking and talking, but here I am. She's not asking for it in full sentences yet though. She does walk over and pull down my shirt when she's hungry, so that's fun. She's 11 months. I've been able to nurse her for 2 full months using only one breast. (Right breast gave up at the 9 month mark). We've made it through all the strikes. I'm only pumping between 4-6 ounces a day and she's still eating 2-4oz bottles. Thankfully I had a nice freezer stash for just this occasion. Just today we sent her bottles with 1 ounce of WCM in them, so we'll see how that goes. We're starting the transition nice and slow. I'm working up the courage to start weaning her in the coming weeks. I don't have plans to go much past a year. I'm proud of how far we've come, but I'm so done.

I'm here! Still supplementing with formula - I think mostly cause we are kind of behind on the whole food thing. We are starting to have more structure with actual meals for him and his milk intake has started dropping a bit. We could probably cut out the formula at this point but I guess I'd rather not be freaking out about my supply. He nurses during the night, before I leave for work and right before bedtime (we haven't sleep trained night time yet). When I'm WFH he nurses all day long.
I'm sure we'll make it to 1 year. Honestly, I'd love to quit at that point.

We're here!!! Well kinda. K nurses before bed, when he wakes up at night, and when he first wakes up in the morning. Drinks formula during the day. He's gonna be one in a week (A WEEK!) so I think it's safe to say we've reached our goal.
K eats like a maniac (food wise and bottle wise) so we'll see how swapping over to straw cups go as we're gonna try and go straight to straws rather than the intermediate step of sippies. We tried some formula in a weighted straw cup this weekend and he kinda got it but only drank like half an oz but plowed through another 3 oz once I put it into a bottle so it's a work in progress for us. We haven't even attempted cows milk yet, waiting till we get the go ahead from our pedi since we're not even on the height/weight spectrum.

Still here! Just barely though. For about a month now I only pump enough for 2 bottles. The third bottle comes from my once plentiful freezer stash which is basically gone. I probably have enough stash to make it to the end of this week. Luckily his doc appt is on Wednesday and I'm assuming she'll give us the green light to start WCM. I'm ready to stop pumping but I'm hoping to keep morning and night nursing. This kid loves the boob and I don't want to take that away from him. My original goal was 6 months so I'm shocked and thrilled that we lasted this long.
littleredfish, I have no advice on the biting but once the top teeth came in, E started biting down and then laugh like he thought it was hysterically that I was screaming in pain. It lasted a couple of weeks and hasn't done it since - and 2 other teeth have grown in since then.

I'm here! Food poisoning followed by the mother of all periods has seriously crashed my supply though. Hazel won't drink from a bottle and only likes water in her sippy cup (tried both warm and cold breast milk in it, she would take a sip, make a face and let it dribble out her mouth). I've taken up Mothers Milk tea, and my period is almost over so hopefully my supply bounces back or we might have to move on to supplementing with formula. My goal is as long as we can, hopefully we still have a few more months because I still love breast feeding her!

So just an update - even if this helps one person down the road. The biting came down to a point where it was not enjoyable for either of us. The biting was constant, and then she went a whole day refusing to nurse, she would just bite me right away and turn her head away like to make a point.
So I went to a breastfeeding clinic and actually saw the lady I saw with DD1 who gave me the tip to make an exaggerated sad face and say no then take her off. I admitted to the tap on the nose, which I still feel terrible about. Well she said that she has 6 kids (!) and that that strategy DID work for all of her kids but one. One was more "sensitive" as she put it, so her being dramatic about the bite got a dramatic reply from her kid and they never got anywhere. DD2 is very dramatic too so we decided that if she bites I have to try really hard to not react, take her off and just stop. We did that all yesterday and the day before and as of last night, no biting!! I think the strong response from me was affecting her more than it was helping. It was making this more negative for both of us than anything, so fingers crossed this keeps working because when she went on a strike I thought that was going to be it for us.
littleredfish, that's awful and I wish I had answers! E has gotten me a few times and brought tears to my eyes, but she hasn't drawn blood. Mostly I think she was doing it when she was either bored, or not happy with the flow.
Otherwise, we're at 10mo and counting. My supply tanked when I had a period a couple of weeks ago, but it seems to be back on the upswing. I was also sick for almost a whole month. Stupid allergies + sinus infection right after HFM. So September was kind of rough since my supply suffered so much. Here's hoping October is better.
She's still nursing about every two hours when I'm home with her, and she's up a couple of times at night. She loves her mama milk. But she's not taking as much at daycare, not even close. So even though I'm not pumping as much (so glad I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on that front) she's not drinking as much so it has worked out.
Logan got his tubes on Tuesday and he is like a completely different nursing baby. I am getting engorged just after a few hours of not nursing, which hasn't happened in a very very long time. Honestly, I'm not even sure how my milk hasn't completely dried up already. I'm so excited for this turn of events!!!
