Ugh, help me out here. Earlier today I started to have a sharp pain right under my right nipple, like on the very edge of the areola. It was sort of intermittent, and I figured it was probably because I had nursed or pumped in a few hours. We were late to meet some family, so I figured I'd wait and take care of it when we got back.
Now we're back and pumping didn't help. It went from being not that bad and sort if intermittent to almost constant and fairly uncomfortable back to intermittent but fairly painful.
I'm concerned that it might be thrush. And honestly, the last thing I need in this long, frustrating breastfeeding journey is something like thrush. My OB's office isn't open until Monday and we're 4 hours from home right now anyway. Should I find a walk-in clinic tomorrow, maybe?
I sometimes get this pain and think it's thrush then it goes away so I never go to doctors. If you google thrush there are signs to look for on you and the baby! I'm too tired right now to remember them! I hope it's not thrush and the pain goes away!
+1 to what olive said. I noticed my nipple looks flat sometimes after C nurses, so even though his latch looks OK he is clamping down on my nipple and I think that causes the pain.
The pain seems to have lessened again after some sleep. This is just such an odd thing, ya know?
Googling earlier is what made me think it was thrush. I have no symptoms aside from the pain, but K did have white residue on her tongue and gassiness. Turns out the white residue must have been leftover milk or formula because it's gone now.
I guess for now I'll just keep an eye out and call the OB Monday if it starts to look like thrush again.

Yea, she has been doing that clamping down thing, especially when she's really hungry and the milk is slow to flow.
