2 weeks ago my parents were visiting and they used my car since it had the car seat installed and i took their car to work. They left the garage door open all day with the door from the garage to the house unlocked. We do currently live in a neighborhood with a gate guard and I'm pretty sure the houses aren't really expensive (we are renting).

I remember my mom telling me so excited that she negotiated with her firm to get her a laptop. And I was like, "that's cool." This was before laptops were a thing, so in my head, she was getting some sort of lap desk that she could write on while she was laying in bed.
Before that, she had a legit car phone. As in, it had a cord and was in the car. What happened to those?
My godmother had one in her car. I always knew they had money when I was growing up but that was just like "woah cool" to me when I saw her make phone calls from it

One of my friends in college had a car with a car phone in it still. Big brand new Navigator with a car phone. His dad bought a ton of them on eBay or some shit* because he didn't want a cell phone 🤔

It's funny hearing you guys saying the car phone was cool. My mom negotiated that she worked from home during the summer when she was at the firm. Which was amazing of her. But when I think of the car phone, I remember my brother and I having to be quiet forever while she took calls and my mom being the weirdo in the corner of dance class with a laptop. I'm not saying poor Cher. It's just interesting to hear you guys having different views of it. For me, it was another way my mom was attached to her office.
