Where is the Wednesday thread?? I need to read people's every day thoughts so that I can calm myself before my anatomy scan. It's not till like 430 so I'll be on high alert all day. Sorry, students.
Since I have dear diary'd all over the randoms recently I will give an update. I just got a message from my dad saying my aunt passed away peacefully about 30 minutes ago.
If you ladies wouldn't mind sending up your positive vibes, prayers, good thoughts or whatever it is you believe in for her I would really appreciate it. She lived a very sad, difficult life and I can only hope that she is at peace now.
And thank you all for giving me a place to spew my emoshuns recently. It really has helped.
We're having dog issues. Pre baby our dog was our baby. Since DD was born she has clearly been feeling displaced and jealous and lately anxious. When DD was 7 mo she snapped at her and got her in the face (after DD grabbed her). She's been doing a little better lately but we have to keep them mostly separate. Yesterday our nanny said the dog was jealous while they were playing and bit the air near the baby. I think we might need to rehome the dog which breaks my heart but DH wants to try anxiety meds and intensive boot camp training (we've done basic training stuff in the past year). It's so sad and frustrating that this dog that I used to adore has become such a problem to our family. And I'm nervous about what bringing a new baby into the mix will mean. Sorry for the long vent
I'm back at work after working from home the past two days (I was feeling under the weather).
I'm trying to decide how we're going to do our long distance gender reveal after we find out on Friday. I wanted to do something special for my mom since she can't be here for any of my ultrasounds. I was thinking cupcakes with pink or blue filling? Is that played out?
I think I'm going to wrap a inexpensive onesie in plain paper and let my parents open it. You could do something like that maybe?
DH had to go to the hospital early this morning. His knee seems to be getting worse instead of better. He now has crutches, a boot and isn't supposed to work till Saturday. They think he may need surgery, but are concerned because he's young or something. IDK.
I'm SO pissed that the guy that hit him just drove off. I mean, thank go DH can go to the VA. Otherwise we'd have been screwed financially by this guy.
callmeKD she's a rescue that we got as a puppy. Maybe part border collie, part shepherd? We did bring a trainer to our house last year after the first incident and things improved slightly. Mostly though she helped our group walks improve. We also did a couple of board and train sessions over holidays/vacations but nothing has really addressed the baby issues. Her anxiety is just getting continuously worse and she either follows us around crying all day or cries while sitting at the other side of the gate or door. But if she's in the room and DD walks near her she (not always, but too often) will growl at her. So we pretty much have to keep her out of the room. It's sad.
obi, I'm sorry for your loss. Sending good vibes your way.
It's official; our basement got the green light from the city inspector and is officially FINISHED! Yay to an extra 400 sq ft! Now to find the funds to decorate it. Once we get a couch and the tv hung it'll be amazing. We've decided to put a small desk in a corner down there (we've been debating where to move the office since we need the current office for a 2nd nursery) so I can (semi)work while the kids play (in the future). Half of the room will be the couch/tv/desk area, the other half will be solely a play area. I'm so excited!
Also, my brother asked me how far along I am now, and I totally told him a week less than I actually am. I guess time really is starting to speed up. Not sure if that's a thumbs up (yay baby!) or thumbs down (omg there's so much to do), but woo!
Lastly (sorry this is so long!), DD is just now waking up from a 2+hr nap. I got a chicken in the crock pot and a batch of butternut squash apple soup made, and even got to sit down for 5 mins. I love when that happens!
elsmom, I'm sorry you're having a hard time with your pup Our 5y/o Golden, who we've had since a puppy, snapped at DD this week when she sat on his stomach (I do watch her closely with him but she moved too fast for me). He was cornered and it probably didn't feel good so I don't blame him, but he made contact with her face (no broken skin fortunately), so it obv wasn't a good situation. It's so heart-breaking & stressful knowing something might have to change for everyone's safety, and I can totally relate. No real advice, just sending good vibes your way.

That is so beyond frustrating. Im so sorry your H is going through this, and for your stress and everything too!
elsmom Is your pup getting enough exercise? We haven't had the same situation, but our dog's anxiety and poor behavior always escalates when we've been slacking on getting her enough exercise.
elsmom - I have 2 border collies (both rescues) and have fostered a ton of herding dogs. I would guess that she needs more physical and mental exercise plus positive reinforcement/positive association with your DD.
if the dog only gets attention when your DD is not around, then the dog will associate your DD with taking away attention. instead (what our trainer told us) is that you need to ignore the dog when the kids are not around (or sleeping) and pay attention to the dog when the kids are around.
