joy yay! I used to work in the federal building at 6th and arch and looked into the center in that building when I was pregnant with B. They told me I'd be waiting about a year! It's insane!!

We got on the waitlist for the center at 30th St (another Federal building) - we've been on 10 months and I was told it would be another six months from now. GEEZ.
We got into a good one in Center City. I'm so so so so thrilled. My mom very much wants us to go the nanny route, but I feel like "I just got off the nearly year long wait list and she's in until she goes to kindergarten. Let's just do this now!"
DD is definitely in the distracted eating phase. It's annoying at home but really frustrating trying to NIP. It's cute that she's so excited to look at everything around her but can we do that after eating please.
Fx that it helps. LMK if you need any help or recipes
Thanks! As a cheese addict day one is already proving to be hard. How did you know your son had an allergy? Did you also eliminate soy or just dairy to start? If DS doesn't have an allergy then something is obviously making him very uncomfortable.
they both had other symptoms, chiefly, a ton of eczema and silent reflux.
With DS1 just cutting dairy did the trick. With DS2, cutting dairy didn't immediately do the trick, but once I cut dairy and soy his eczema immediately cleared up

DS has been a very happy baby today, but took FOREVER to get down for a nap this afternoon. Seriously, he was due for one and then wouldn't go to sleep for an hour and a half (which was spent being nursed/swaddled/rocked/set down/picked up/repeat, repeat, repeat) he FINALLY fell asleep and now the repair people who have been in my apartment forever are making SO MUCH NOISE. They're replacing our long-broken built-in microwave with a range hood, which will improve my life in no way, shape, or form, and which we didn't even ask to be fixed. And I swear, if they wake my kid up they can spend the next hour of their lives putting him back to sleep.
I know I complain about DD a lot and her refusal to sleep but I am really enjoying her outside of the times I'm trying to get her to nap. She gets so excited to see us and she's getting more interactive with the smiling and little "conversations." Her little noises and expressions when she's "talking" kill me.
I went back to work last week Wed - Fri. 3 days of daycare and my baby is already sick with a cold. Mostly congestion but she also has green poop. I'm off today, hopefully she's doing better by tomorrow and we can survive week #2

Those smiles and moments are so worth it. But it's still hard when not sleeping/crying/etc. And as they get older those interactions make you almost forget the other stuff.

I was actually just thinking about this while DD was telling ne a lovely tale in the bath a moment ago. I get so many of these little smiles and chats and gurgles, but I feel like my H doesn't get very many. Oftentimes he gets, "Here, please try to keep her happy while I cook/shower/brush my teeth. " i feel guilty about that. She is a major mummy's girl right now.
hannahbear How are your hands? Did painting your nails get you to stop the picking habit? I've been wondering how you're doing because mine are still a mess.

I've been getting normal amounts of sleep (for me anyways) but the last week or so I've just been exhausted. I took like a two hour nap today and feel sooo much better.
And Keira turned two months today! She was a champ and only cried for a second during her shots. AW
We have that, but it's navy and white pants, pink shirt with a hedgehog coming out of the pocket. My DD1's too, one of my favorites! Little girl wore it today

You know, it did help! I have this polish from Sephora that's a longer lasting polish but not gel - and it's lasted for over a week (which seems so long to me for regular nail polish!). I need to take it off because my nails have grown and it looks silly. But otherwise, yeah, I think it helped!!

annbuhdan maybe treat yourself to a mani if you can get someone to watch LO? Nail techs are used to seeing bitten up cuticles - maybe it would be a nice pamper thing for yourself!
Woah... DS just slept through the night. I had to get up to pump and he's still sleeping. They're not kidding, that's a weird feeling. The first thing I did when I realized it was throw off the covers to go check on him.

May that become your new normal to the point where you don't wake up in that half-ecstatic half-freaked panic .
Last night started off with such promise. DS slept in RNP for 2 hours straight (up for only an hour). And went 4 hours between feelings! However after that it went down hill. Between reflux/gas/general discomfort and then wanting to comfort nurse he didn't sleep well.
I also decided to take him to pedi just to see about an allergy/intolerance. Dr doesn't think he has a milk allergy yet, but instead an intolerance. And my increase in ice cream last week made it worse..oops. He also thinks the discomfort after eating is related to his silent reflux. So I don't have to be strict with eliminating milk, but do need to watch and greatly reduce. He also gave a prescription for Zantac. The medicine I may wait until end of week after being dairy free for a week. Another dr in the practice told me at the 1 month that dairy elimination is the new recommission first. So we'll see.
So I gave up dairy for a little over a week and then had cheese on Saturday. Sunday morning I noticed a change to greener mucusy poop but she wasn't really acting different. Last night she seemed fussier than normal and this morning her stomach is clearly bothering her. Poop has gotten greener and very mucusy. But I haven't had any dairy since Saturday so it seems like a long delay for the cheese to be the cause.

The doctor did say it can take 2 weeks to notice a real difference. So I assume that means it can remain in system that long? So maybe that's why today she's fussier and has stomach issues.

From what I understand it takes about 24 hours for stuff you eat to get into breast milk. I haven't been able to find any references on how long it takes the breast milk to affect the newborn digestive system (gas and poop), but I'd expect at least some lag from eating to impact.
