LO was up from 11:30-4 last night & up for the day at 6 and I have not been able to nap. I let h nap, though. I bought myself some truffles and beer today and I so f-ing deserve them.
Is anyone else watching the Rocky Horror remake tonight?! I even put reminders in my phone so I'm ready!!
Okay, my overall thoughts:
*Disappointing, although all the Fox "remakes/theater" have been disappointing, so at a certain point I'm going to have to lower my expectations.
*Least sexy production of Rocky Horror ever. It was like watching the Mickey Mouse Club version. Glee's take on it was more risque.
*Reeve Carney, Annaleigh Ashford, and Tim Curry were the highlights for me.
* I really wanted to love Laverne Cox. Her voice was amazing. But she was too much "woman" for a transvestite. I'm not sure if that makes sense. Like she wasn't drag enough? But this could also be because of the whole "unsexiness" of it. I feel like maybe the producers felt like they were pushing the envelope enough with a transgendered lead (which, really, brava to them) that to emphasize the idea of a man in women's lingerie might be too much. Save
I was sad that you were watching it 3 hours behind me. I ate popcorn and thought of you.
▪+1 to Reeve Carvey, Annaleigh Ashford and Tim Curry. I also liked Adam Levine.
▪Why was Rocky wearing long shorts? I was much happier during the ending when they were the correct length.
▪I thought the audience part was a nice touch.
▪I would almost feel safe showing this version to a high school chorus class. Definitely not risqué enough but it was also prime time television.
▪I think Laverne Cox did an amazing job. I felt the same hang ups about her being too womanly-her boobs looked great!
▪Christina Milan as Magenta was really disappointing. Everytime it went to her I felt like she was acting and not believeable as being the role. Does that even make sense? My favorite movie of her is a super cheesy Hallmark channel Christmas movie. That might be the type of role she should stay in.
▪Musically, overall, I enjoyed everyone's voice which is usually not the case in television musicals.
I think I was too disappointed by the scene to appreciate him. I kept saying "he's supposed to be coming from the freezer!" Or "how come he doesn't look like his brain was removed?"

DH asked "where do I know her from" so I started singing From Am to PM. "No, what has she acted in?" "Every Christmas movie Hallmark has made. "

Re: RHPS I feel like Riff Mags and Columbia's parts were very overlooked, mostly Mags.
I had to stop comparing the movies after "There's a light" because callbacks and cues were off. After preforming RHPS for years, those are the things that I really look/listen for.
I loved the costumes, hair, and make up, with the exception of Rocky's shorts. I loved the casting for him though.
I loved Hot Patootie, always my favorite scene and I thought Adam Lambert did a great job. It was weird that he didn't come out of the freezer, or look like he didn't have a slice in his head(although you couldn't really see that with his hair). I did miss the lifts though. I always love playing Columbia, and doing the lifts with Eddie. And they are SO fun to watch!
Floor show was awesome. I love the revamp of it and I LOVED the costumes.
Hated Columbia dying, hated Frank and Rocky dying. Hated how the rest of the cast mourned for them.
I also hate superheros, but I hated it even more this time around.
All in all I loved it. Let's be real here, it wasn't good, but neither was the original. That's the point.
