I have priority health and it's telling me that I will have to pay $2,000 ish for a vaginal delivery. Closer to 3K should we need a C-Section.
I had to pay $800 for my D&C last time, which is a really shitty bill to have to pay. Thankfully I have an HSA so it wasn't like I had to pay out of my personal account, but still!
Good god. There really has to be a better way to manage health care expenses.
I remember looking at our statement and I *think* my vaginal delivery was around $5,000, maybe? That seems crazy considering how smoothly everything went.
This is very true. I think total I had to pay $15 for my last pregnancy because of DH being active duty. That $15 was only because we couldn't wait for a referral for my rhogram.
Oh well.
Its good to hear that at least military seems to be taken care of.
I just cant imagine having to pay for healthcare because #canadian.
I mean, I know my taxes go towards it. But I certainly dont feel or see that happening so I am 100% on board. Also, as someone with a lifelong medical issue, I am so happy that I just swipe my health card and never see a bill. I'd be buried in paperwork at this point. My prescriptions are already an expense I wish I didnt have each month. I cant imagine adding copays and deductibles for the doctor's visits on top of that. Ouch.
Not throwing shade by any means, fwiw! I hope I am not coming off that way. Words are hard.
I WISH we had a citizen funded medical system. I would happily have higher taxes for what you're describing.

But trump says our system is a total disaster!!! Haha. It isn't perfect, but I firmly believe a lot of the negative hype is largely exaggerated or myth. People get their panties in a twist when they go to the ER with a cold and someone with an emergency gets prioritized.
People are not dying in waiting rooms. We dont wait months to see our doctor. At least IME (which is pretty extensive with my medical history). I call malarkey!

obi H and I would happily pay higher taxes if that meant healthcare was covered for everyone. Canada also has caps on medicine hikes, which is why when doucher-mcgee hiked the cost of epipens a lot of people drove to Canada to get them for the lower price. Get with the program, America.

I often wonder if this is something that gets missed by Americans. It isnt just our universal healthcare. I feel we are fairly well protected from some of the capitalism BS that comes to play elsewhere. Tangent, but my H and I just watched 13th and we were blown away at the thought of privatised prison systems. It seems like America is for profit. Everyone should be able to persue the almighty dollar, but where is the line... Canada definitely has drawbacks in many areas and is nowhere near perfect, but our healthcare is one area I am totally happy with.

I always get a laugh out of what the doctors/labs bill versus what the insurance allows. The last funny one was $750 for a blood test, insurance allows $12.85. Then I think about how much that would suck if you were uninsured or had a high deductible plan.

The school I'm student teaching at offers 17 hours worth of conference times. 17. And I have to be there for all of them even though my students should only take about 6 hours. On the plus side, my a/s will take up at least 1 1/2 of those hours tomorrow!

The arguments people use like the one above have obviously never been to an ER in the US. The same thing happens here, you get bumped for real emergencies.

Took the words right out of my mouth with private prison. I just don't know what all this will come too.
H and I are going away for 2 full nights tomorrow! Child free! I need it b/c DD has been up for a 2 hour block the last 2 nights (2-4am one night, then at 1030pm last night). I'm exhausted, grumpy, and need to get away. I've resorted to letting her keep a book in bed b/c she reads it for 5 mins then goes to sleep. Gotta pick my battles I suppose.
I've been feeling little kicks off and on for the last week or so, then last night lying in bed the baby threw a party and must have rolled over dramatically. It felt like a BH, until I noticed only half my lower stomach was hard and I could feel feet/arms going nuts & had a giant (relatively speaking) bulge on one side. I didn't feel DD like this for at least another 7 weeks! It must have been the big bowl of rocky road ice cream I had shortly beforehand
