A Poll about Coffee Drinking Habits

I have to wean myself off of my addiction to iced pumpkin coffees at Dunkin Donuts - they are seriously hurting my wallet. But I can WALK to Dunkin Donuts from my house, and there's another Dunkin Donuts at my train station in DC. I'm trapped in a vicious cycle - help!

I'm curious to see what types of coffee drinkers we have on this board!

I drink all coffee.
I prefer a white mocha.
I usually have a white mocha with breakfast and an iced latte during nap.
We own an espresso machine. I figure both drinks are high on milk content so they aren't terrible for me. Plus, I know I use less chocolate than the coffee shops.
My recommendation is buy a machine. It'll pay for itself quickly.

I drink a cup at home. I have to have it gone by 930-10. DD2 doesn't handle my caffeine intake well (gets gassy at night). And I don't have the energy to get everyone ready to go to Starbucks.

I treat myself to Starbucks on my way in to work if I have time. Otherwise I brew at home. In the office we have a Keurig that I use. So I'm a mix. But at least 1 cup a day, sometimes more.

I can't poll but, I drink about a half pot of coffee throughout my day. I could easily drink more because I like it. I do regular coffee (gevalia is my brand of the moment) and I quite like just a splash of peppermint mocha creamer.
I am not big into flavored lattes and things from coffee shops. If it's good coffee pretty much black is fine with me.

dizzycooks - we received an espresso machine and I have never taken it out of the box ... how steep is the learning curve? I need to bust that thing OUT already!!

Oh my gosh open it up! I find its all about preference. Once you get it set and find a Bean you like you're good. We use Starbucks French roast whole bean from Costco. It's cheaper than espresso, but strong enough for me.

I drink 1 cup in the morning, black coffee. I always like hot coffee too, it's very rare that I drink iced coffee, even in the niddle of summer. I used to always drink it at work, but now that I work from home, H usually makes it for me.

Strong and black. Generally brewed at home. We drink McDonald's coffee at home. Or, the Zavida organics from Costco. If we're out, we drink whatever: Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Starbucks or Panera.
Treats are rare but when I have one it is Starbucks pumpkin spice soy latte in the fall or Tim Hortons 1/2 coffee, 1/2 French vanilla.
I am like you kcrkcs I could easily drink a 1/2 pot or more. I do limit myself to two (measured) cups per day.

Hot coffee for me too, no matter the temps outside.

I drink 32 oz of coffee first thing every morning. I make it in a French press from some locally roasted beans, and add half and half.

Since I drink so much to start my day, I try to avoid having it in the afternoon, although every once in a while I cave.

I can't imagine only getting my coffee at a coffee shop... I need it ASAP upon awaking. It is literally the second thing I do each morning after changing a diaper.

Confession: I've never been to Dunkin Donuts. I don't think we have them out here? I gather that people go nuts for their coffee, though.

I get my coffee going before the diaper is changed. I think my routine is let the dog out, feed the dog, get my coffee going, get DD1 to the bathroom, then DD1 fed, finish coffee, then change DD2's diaper, and nurse her.

I can't vote. I have coffee about twice a week. My BFF brings me an iced capp most Thursdays when she comes over, and I have either a iced capp or half french vanilla/half hot chocolate on Saturdays with my mom. If I'm super exhausted I will occasionally make something with the Tassimo at home, usually a "fancy" coffee or French vanilla white hot chocolate powder in it.


If I'm feeling really splurgy I'll get a peppermint white mocha from Starbucks with 2 extra shots of peppermint.

I don't actually like coffee, and I'm overly sensitive to caffeine so I always try to finish before noon-ish and never have coffee 2 days in a row.

I have to drink it. No coffee and I'm a mess mid afternoon with a splitting headache.

I usually have a cup at home and then 1-2 at work. It just depends on what kind of day I'm having.

I usually only get coffee out if I have to run an errand for work in the morning, so maybe once a week.

I've always wondered if I'm really missing out by never having DD coffee. I don't feel so bad anymore.

Ugh I feel you on the wallet pains! I was buying DD or SBUX every day until a month ago. DH was starting to complain, lol. I can't blame him though, I was spending about 50$ a week on coffee and breakfast/cake pops for DD. We've scaled back to once or twice a week (less than $10). I'm brewing coffee all day at home instead, hahaha!

ETA fave is venti blonde roast with skim and sugar free mocha from sbux and xlg sugar free hazelnut with skim and splenda from DD. At home I buy all the yummy creamers (salted caramel truffle, pumpkin spice, mint chocolate, hot chocolate marshmallow, etc) and sugar free syrup from torani.

Honestly, I've never even tried it. I think it smells amazing, but it's one of those smells that I would never want to put in my mouth. Kind of like leaves burning in the fall. I love the smell, but I certainly don't want to eat them.

But don't think I'm a caffeine-abstainer. No way. I get my caffeine kick from green tea. I drink about 32oz every morning. If I'm at a coffee shop, that's what I get, and if they don't have green tea then I get black tea. I used to put honey in my green tea but have found that I prefer it completely unsweetened.

crimsonandclover - you've never had coffee? That is incredible! And I didn't know green tea had enough kick in it - this intrigues me! I may start drinking green tea after lunch to avoid my post-lunch coma ...
