AW we made witches brew - I would recommend it if you don't mind a little mess because this kept them entertained for at least an hour. Everything was pretty contained with the cookie sheet. Put vinegar, drop of dish soap and food coloring (glitter if you want) in the jar. Scoop in baking soda. I had them try to say "bubble, bubble, toil and trouble" which was hilarious.
OMG my mom. She called me and then texted me "call me" this morning when she should be at work and knows I'm at work. So I'm freaking out thinking something awful happened until I can finally call her. And she got off work early, went to Kroger scratch n debt aisle, and wanted to know if I wanted baby food and gummies for pre-pregnancy.
No and no. Wth! We skipped baby food and I'm pregnant. She knows these things.
Haha I get the "call me" texts all the time too!
Don't call them.
My mom knows better. She just texts now with what she needs / wants to say.
We carved a pumpkin yesterday which DS was not interested in. But we let him color on the other side of the pumpkin and that kept him occupied. I also toasted the seeds but they're a little overdone. Dang it.
I finally found a captain America costume. Tried OUAC and was super disappointed. So many ripped, torn, stained, or ones with holes. Oh well. At least I have something! Now if the toddler willingly wears it is a different story.

I find that when I go there, I really have to inspect everything carefully. They seem to take everything people bring by without looking things over.

Yes, definitely! I ended up getting the boys some jammies and was glad I looked closely. Had to swap out what I was going to get due to holes in the toes of a bunch of them.
hbrockman01 I just bought some moving boxes from Home Depot. It seems like a waste to pay for cardboard, but to me it was worth the money to get boxes that I new would be sturdy without having to drive all over to find free ones.

We've also bought moving boxes in the past. #worthit
I think I've mentioned before I have a couple of students who are big Trump supporters. More like fan girls. One of them is the kid of a teacher. I had a chance to chat with her mom today because we had teacher institute, and she said something about "whenever she's with [this one friend] they just get so political!" and I was trying to be delicate like "I think it's great that a young girl is so involved and informed in politics. Is this the first election she can vote in?" and she was like "I want you to know this does not come from me. She brought home a Trump sign! I had to tell her no she can't put it in our yard! I was so embarrassed!" LOL *whew!* Also, she told me she's not old enough to vote yet. *double whew*

Are these seniors you're teaching?
Also, thank goodness mom cleared the air.
Yes. This kid is a senior. I think her friend she's always talking to about Trump is the one who got her on the bandwagon.

We got most of ours at lowes, I don't think the Home Depot ones have handles like the lowes ones FYI. Dang if I had thought about it sooner I could have saved them for you too. We had so many freaking boxes.

I have to get a little political for a minute...while I was in TX I went to 2 presidential libraries. The George HW Bush and LBJ library. It was really inspiring to see what they have done in their lives and the change enacted-esp LBJ. At each library there was a short video and it got me thinking...can you imagine what a Trump presidential library would be like? I mean I think most of our past presidents have dedicated some part or all of their life to public service. The sad thing is I told my dad all of this and said imagine what a Trump video would look like, he laughed but he's still voting for Trump. I really tried not to push him too much about politics but I just don't get it.

Yes to the bolded. I may typically lean left (I like to think of myself more middle of the road), but I can get behind someone that dedicates their life to something of importance. I will never agree with everything a politician says or does. I may have very strong negative feels against a platform or something, but I've never seen the likes of Trump in in American politics before. And I fear that thanks to him, this is only the beginning.

The LBJ library was particularly inspiring bc he worked so hard for civil rights. Seeing some of the images of hatred from that time period just made me so upset, but it makes me even more upset to see what is happening in our current climate too. Funny thing about this trip with my dad, I learned some things I've never learned about him before. We ended up going to New Orleans and I asked if he had ever been before. He went in the 60's when he was stationed at Biloxi. Apparently a bunch of them went and got totally wasted. But he also told me how he was standing up for a black man that they wouldn't let in to a bar on Bourbon Street. And he told me another time in small town IL where he lived, he did the same thing at a local bar and the bar owner cracked him on the back of the head with some kind of blunt object and he ended up going to the hospital to get stitches. My dad may have what I consider some backwards thinking on politics now, but he has a sense of humanity and I just don't see how he can support Trump. Ok, I'm done ranting about it, for now, lol.

That's good to know! I just went to THD bc it's close. But it might be worth it to go to Lowes for the next batch.

We had some from Home Depot but I though the lowes ones were better. Maybe cheaper too. You can see the prices online. Just make sure you don't buy the heavy duty ones unless you need them, they are quite a bit more. We mostly got medium boxes and they were like 74 cents.
One of the houses on our culdesac has their icicle lights hanging up all year. They don't turn them on, but they've been up since last Christmas. I judge.
Oh... and total mom fail... the captain America outfit is too small. I'm either going to have to do a little sewing on it to lengthen or just use the mask, shield, and plain shirt and call it a day.

I'd use the other parts and call it a day. But sewing is not my forte so there's that.
