Is there some sort of 12-week growth spurt/leap/regression, or did someone steal my calm happy babies and replace them with screaming, hungry look-alikes?

Growth spurt and Wonder Week. It's like winning the fussy baby lottery!

I remember asking this same question a while ago. Now she's 14 weeks and happy as a clam again. Also back to normal sleep. Just gotta keep on swimming!!
Here's hoping to a nice afternoon. And a quick closure to this never ending kitchen project that I may have threatened to take a sledgehammer to this morning...
Now that our babies are older, are any of you still waking them to eat?
For those who bottle feed, do you offer more ounces during the day?
We've never waken her to eat - even when she dropped to 5lbs and change, we let her sleep. I counted ounces in a twenty four hour period to make sure she was getting enough.
I still let her lead in the eating front. She was in a solid schedule for awhile but has now changed to more feedings of less volume. Moving target....
hannahbear, we only wake if one is awake and its bottle time. They always eat together. We also let them lead on the incressing of food. However baby boy will always eat whats in the bottle no matter how much. He eats 200mls at every bottle and has since 2 months. Its the amount a 4 month old should eat so we haven't increased it even if he would eat more. He is gaining each week so we don't worry. Baby girl eats what she is supposed to for 3 months and usually funishes but I know she is full when its gone so we haven't given her more either.

I usually never have this problem, as mine is not close to sleeping through the night. Bed time 7:30, wake at 11:30, 3:30, 6.
But last night he miraculously slept and I woke at 3:15 with the most painful boobs on the planet. So I pumped one side and did wake him to eat the other. I hate to do that because I'd like to see how long he will go for but it was the first time it happened so I was worried the second I fell back asleep he would be up.
spicysalmonroll I mostly meant waking during the day. I'm sorry you had painful boobs!!!
I think I'm realizing how much my anxiety has been controlling me. I've been so worried about E's eating, and a schedule, etc that it's kind of taken over. I so want to have a more organic schedule - he's awake when he's awake, sleeps when he's sleepy, eats when he's hungry. I'm trying to hard to control everything. I was so worried he wasn't eating enough - and now he definitely is! I need to let go a little.

I wake if it's been more than 4 hours during the day and if nap is more than 2 hours. I do this to try to stay on a more consistent routine. I do not wake at night.

I still wake if it's been more than 3 during the day. Since she's 40 minute napping me most of the time it rarely has been.
Because there's so much going on in this house and she is so distractible she is dangerously close to reverse cycling. She has HUGE feeds at night (I swear she is sucking down 5 oz. at a time, though I have only my intuition to go on for that) and then will barely nibble for 5 minutes during the day. If I could get her to swap that habit I think we all might get more sleep, so it's a little maddening. All the solutions to distractible eating are a little impossible with a 2 year old in the house.

Tomorrow I have a 12 week old. I go back to work on Thursday. When I look at those facts it feels like time has been flying, even though every week seems looooong.

Oh yes, hun - let go a little and try to breathe! Your baby will let you know when he's hungry - believe me! I feed mine and if she starts fussing after an hour, then it's definitely not hunger. If she's fussing after two and I can't find anything else, then I give her a snack. But, mostly I look for hunger signs after 3-4 hours.
I also watch how much she spits up to see if we should change how much she gets per feeding. A full feed for her is 3.5 oz. For a time, it was 4 oz but she was spitting up so much that we backed off to see if 3.5 was better. It was. Recently, she's been hungry more often and spitting up more. We're now doing 2 oz "snack" bottles. It seems that no matter what I do, she wants 24 - 28 oz in a 24 hour period and she is naturally craving that total amount no matter how it's cobbled together.
As long as the baby is gaining weight, he's good to go!
I facilitate as much as sleep as possible. I subscribe to "sleep begets sleep." Only if it's been 5 hours or more since the last time that she ate will I wake her up during the day. (That's been once maybe twice in the past nine weeks) I'm not even that picky about how late her naps go in relation to bed time. I've let her sleep until 7:45pm and then put her down for the night at 9:30pm. Sleep, child. An overtired baby is the pits.
EDIT: I'm not at all saying that you should do things my way. Haha. I'm just trying to show how fluid I am with schedules, eating and sleep. My baby also allows me to be this way; your child may be different. But, it might be best to let him lead you for a bit and see what happens.

My child is having an off day. She's not taking her typical naps and rhen falls asleep when it's time to eat. Since she's hungry when I try to move her to lay her down she wakes up and cries. Then rinse and repeat. Long day!!

dc2london hope you feel better soon! Colds are no fun.
R still has no semblance of nap schedule...I don't even remember or have the brain space to figure out how to do this. I'm just tired.
M had her first day of preschool today! She's going until 2:30 PM this month then switching to full day. I heard she did well.
I'm going to look for a job in January...so nervous about going back and not looking like a good candidate. I did do work part time for my family's company, which I can pad a little, but still nervous.
Also, because of a home loan that my parents had my H and I get two years ago as an investment (their company is paying it, but it's under our name), we weren't able to get preapproval in time for the house I wanted to offer on today.
I can not get rid of this cold! Ugh. Every time I think I feel better, it comes screaming back!
Ugh, same here! One of my best friends is in town for the first time since she had her 5-month old and I was SO excited for our babies to meet (and to see her, of course), but I think it's unlikely at this point.
Also I was running around with my daughter who wanted to know why her dad wasn't there. I said, "well, he's sick." Her response, "But so are you!" Yes, but I'm a mom, honey.

Life twins. DH and I both have a cold right now too.
