My oldest (eldest?) sister stopped by on Saturday. She looked around at nursery, our room (w crib) & then promptly offered to come over and help get ready for baby. Or watch ds on the weekend so I can get stuff done. Guess I needed that push to realize gotta get stuff done.
Today will be a day to make checklists. Hopefully work won't interfere.
My goal is to get my final checklists done this week. I told Dh everything food related I picked up at costco yesterday is off limits until the baby comes so we don't have to go again. I put everything in our big freezer in the garage.
Stuff I know I need to do : I need to get the diaper bags set up and our hospital bags packed soonish. I want to make some freezer meals, but probably not too many. I also need the carseat installed and inspected but that's on Dh's to do list. The house needs a good cleaning too.

Costco run just for freezer meat and then I have to cook meals and freeze half for the next couple of weeks! Other than that just a couple more Amazon orders, laundry the other presents (clothes) that are filtering in after the shower and find childcare for 9 weeks after birth. I just set up two tours this week and need to do some searching online for a nanny because we're on waiting lists everywhere.
That has been a major stress, but this week I just decided, it will sort itself out and we'll do what we need to do. I'm only taking 9 weeks off because I get it fully paid, but I can extend that if I have to and we have some grandparents that are more than willing to come help in our time of need. :-)

yeah that list that continues to grow...I have kicked that thing to the curb and said you know what things will work themselves out...eventually. Number 2 baby issues. I am just making sure we have the main things he will need like clothes, diapers and a place to sleep. DH will install the carseat closer to the date..or to be honest when I go into labor. I have really everything he would need to survive right now.
Freezer meals I am working on starting this weekend. I will be making probably chicken enchiladas and spaghetti sauce.
I need to find a pedi, set up and tour the hospital (how do I even do this? Call and ask for a tour?), and eventually pack my hospital bag (I made my checklist for it).
I don't know what else. Everything else is set up, sterilized, purchased, and ready.
I booked my hospital tour online through my hospital's website. you may want to see if they have a L&D webpage with more info.
We aren't having our shower until the weekend before Thanksgiving (when I'll be at 36 weeks), which is driving me a bit nuts because I just want to know what things people will get us and what I need to buy.
My mom is coming to town for the shower, so I think we will try to make some freezer meals then. Otherwise, nursery is mostly set, baby clothes are washed... just need to install the car seat and watch the birthing class videos.

Here are my main things -- mostly just waiting on stuff for a few weeks: - register with hospital (after tour tomorrow) - wash and organize baby clothes (after I see what SIL is giving us) - finish nursery (end of November when my friend comes) - pack labor bag (after our last overnight trip in mid-Nov; already have some nursing-friendly bras and shirts ready) - order things off our secret Amazon registry (probably need a new carseat, another changer, Tula)
My plan is to have everything done by December 1st and then DO NOTHING but go to work for last two weeks/attend holiday events/enjoy my birthday.
I don't even have the list written. We just had our shower on Saturday, and the baby's room is half painted.
I already do Dream Dinners monthly, so freezer meals are going to be all set.
Our baby classes are a week before Thanksgiving (I'll pre-register at the hospital during the tour), and there are talks of a work shower, so I don't want to buy any missing items (car-seat!!) until after that.
-Wash baby clothes -Finish decorating nursery -Order leftover registry items (probably around Black Friday/Cyber Monday) -Figure out which insurance baby will go on (open enrollment in Nov/Dec) -Get postpartum care items -Attend final baby class -Finish Christmas shopping -Reserach newborn photography -Pack hospital and diaper bag
lola, I keep forgetting about black friday! I wonder if there will be any decent deals on the stuff we will still need. I have to be out of the house anyway for a doctor's appointment so maybe I could be motivated to go somewhere for the right price.
@cahistoryteacher, I have no idea. I never paid attention to the baby stuff before! I just think the 10% completion discount for BBB is kind of lame, so I'm hoping maybe they'll do something bigger. Even the Amazon completion discount is higher, so I'll probably end up getting a lot of stuff from Amazon (if eligible) that was previously on our other registries.
The to-do list is never ending! At 32 weeks w/twins, I've decided to just be ok with not everything getting done.
*The cleaning and organizing is a permanent item on the list *I would like to make a few more freezer meals but I have done some already *the glider, ottoman and dresser in the nursery will not get finished painting until after the twinkies are born. Bending and movement in general are just too hard right now *We need to finish painting the laundry room and put up shelves *I need to buy frames for the prints I bought to hang in the nursery (months ago)
I like talking about what I HAVE completed better... *baby classes done *birthing center tour done *cars seats installed and checked *baby hospital bag packed and in the car *my hospital bag packed and in the car *portion of Baby clothes, in various sizes, laundered *bottles and pacifiers washed and put away *stockpile of diapers and wipes bought *some formula purchased but need to buy more *newborn photographer booked *diaper changing station set up on each floor of our house *RnP assembled and has batteries *Bouncer assembled and has batteries *PnP set up in basement - need to set up 2nd one on main floor
I feel much more prepared seeing what I've accomplished written out!
So, my FTM is showing, but what exactly does it mean to wash the bottles and pacifiers? Like, just a regular wash? Something special? I'm hoping to BF, but introduce bottles around 4-6 weeks for more flexibility with pumping. And pacifiers after 10 days. Would rather prep those things now, but honestly didn't think about having to do so until now.

Sterilize using boiling water. I used tommy tippee bottles and once you open the package there are instructions on what to do before using.

Good to know! Wasn't sure if that would make anything melt. Never thought about the bottles actually having instructions. I clearly haven't opened them yet.

I highly recommend following this mantra. I hadn't pre-registered at the hospital yet, packed a bag or finished unpacking everything when the twins. It will all work out
My doctor keeps telling me the only thing I really NEED is the car seat, a safe place for her to sleep when she gets home and diapers. So when I start to panic, I remind myself of that. We can do it!!!

I didn't sterilize the bottles or pacifiers - just washed in hot soapy water. Is that not enough?

crimpgirl, I'm going to warn you, you will be overwhelmed with a shitload of "stuff" after your shower. I remember feeling like there was no way it would all get put away or find a home in my house. I tried to tackle a little bit each day and finally it is all put away. Good luck!!!

Wondering the same thing. I mean let's be honest, I'm not believing for ONE second that every bottle is getting sterilized every time. Who has time for that??? I think the closest mine will get is the dishwasher. When I learn to use it. (I didn't grow up with one)
Oh no. You only sterilize once after taking out of package.
I had plastic bottles and hand washed for the 1st yr. Then started using dishwasher. The plastic gets filmy/foggy when using the dishwasher. At least mine did. I was ok with it since I was transitioning to cups.

If anyone needs any socks with grippers on the bottom, this deal just popped up on DealNews. it's 2 pairs of Dr. Scholls socks with grippers, for free, you just have to pay $4.49 shipping/handling.
I just need to install the car seat. It's been on my to do list for a couple of weeks now. I keep meaning to do it before I'm too uncomfortable to do it.
I packed my hospital bag and the baby's bad earlier this week. I pinned a list to it of stuff to grab at the last minute and stuff H needs to pack for himself (which he won't, but I did my part).
