Morning ladies. I know it's early for spam but I am desperately trying to stay awake while nursing the LO. This shit makes you so tired! I've also had a constant headache since 7pm last night. Ugh.
Baby's weight loss was questionable at pediatrician yesterday (8%) so we have to go back today. My milk just came in yesterday afternoon so I really hope LO has been getting enough now. I've been up every hour with her to feed so it better be enough!
I'm feeling bad for DH because I know he feels left out when I'm up with baby to feed her. He wants to help so bad. My breast pump is being delivered today. Maybe once I start building a supply he can help with late night feelings so I can sleep. Btw, I'm so confused about when/how much I should pump in addition to feeding baby. Where's the manual for newborns?!
I hear ya on trying to stay awake. My sister is here so once she finishes I can pass her off and sleep sweet sleep. H hates the night feedings do he is not jealous, but I am ready to start sharing the night duty with him I have quite a supply built up already, but I am waiting until probably 1 month before we add in a bottle to avoid confusion.
It seems I've been too wrapped up in my drama that I've neglected my love titting duties on the many new born announcements.
@dronkeygirl, my lactation consultant told me to pump every 3 hours and 10-15 mins each session. Also, coincide my pumping after breastfeeding the baby, get all the milk out. I got some masses underarm. Unable to work those out, sigh...

Nursing/feeding moms unite--- sooooo tired! And if my sweet husband tells me that he is up (I.e. Wakes up and promptly goes back to sleep) for each feed, I'm going to laugh in his face! I really do wish there is a manual/guideline for pumping. I was told to pump after my morning session to build up my supply-- but that doesn't take into account feeding the LO a bottle to get her use to the idea of getting fed that way. For this week I am going to pump once in the AM and then starting next week I will do a PM pump as well. I think it's LC appointment time-- this shit is too confusing for my tired brain!
Also, I'm starting to wonder if my 'allergies' is actually a cold. LO is so stuffy and has been coughing-- which has just broken my heart-- no fever, but will call pediatrician in the morning and see if they want us to come in
I am very familiar with the baby blues, but when did mother's guilt surface in every aspect of my life?!?!

Edited cos sentences are hard.
I heard warm compresses and massage to help the masses which I presume are a blocked duct.
Celebrating Valentine's Day a day early with a nice lunch at a French bistro since baby eviction proceedings start tonight. Soon I will get to join the Outside Baby Club.
Thanks for the BF advice ladies. This stuff is really confusing.
Anyone else dealing with hot flashes? It freaked me out yesterday because I thought I might have a fever but then I felt normal in about 2 hours. I assume this can be blamed on hormones?
dronkeygal, the PP sweating is pretty normal. Mine just started 2 nights ago. With my first, I had to change my pajamas in the middle of the night cause I would sweat right through them. It will pass pretty quickly. Another one of the joys of the postpartum period!

Oh joy! Cannot wait for the day I feel "normal" again
Morning ladies. I'm sitting here pumping. We've kinda fallen into this formula/pumped breast milk/breastfeeding combo that we all seem good with, and it's not causing me stress at this point! I either pump or attempt to nurse every 3 hours to get my supply up, and we supplement with formula. Dom is doing great going back and forth between the bottle and breast, and he's so much less fussy now that he's eating, so we'll continue like this for the foreseeable future! We have a weight check at the pediatrician today so I guess we'll ask if that sounds okay, but my gut tells me it's the way to do this.
Yesterday I was getting a half ounce (total- between both breasts) per 20 minute pumping session, but at my 3:30 pumping session got an ounce and a half! I was pretty excited!
I have woo hoo spam. LO has been eating every two hours fairly consistently. And then last night, he suddenly sleeps 6 hours. I feel like a new person! I did wake up pretty freaked out though. And now I desperately need to pump.

This. God I was a sweaty disgusting mess after having DS. Unfortunately this has started already this time and she hasn't even been born yet.

Happy Friday ladies. No real spam for me today. Besides calling the Drs office about little ones small size. While I'm not for an induction if the lol one is small and has no room to go I feel she would have a better Chance on the outside.

Hi girls! Sitting here pumping as well. Me and my little guy are going to experiment with exclusively pumping and adding a tiny smidge of rice cereal to his feeds because he has reflux so doc thinks a) make the milk thicker and heavier and b) by pumping and feeding I can control his intake and position. I was hating breast feeding after three weeks of him screaming in my face for entire forty minute feeds because his little jaws just can't get the milk out efficiently, so this is a great compromise for me. And Voila! He slept 3 and a half hours just now. It was glorious.
izzy0927, good to hear you are finding a feeding plan that works for you!
My spam... I just watched 2 people get engaged on the today show and I started crying. Now I feel bad I didn't even get DH a card before baby came. I am going to dig into DD's craft supplies and make him something today.

A local radio station is doing a St. Jude's radio-thon this week. They keep doing those songs where St. Jude families and kids talk over their stories. Terrible idea to listen to that on my work commute, I've been a blubbering mess for the last 2 days! I just want to give them all my money.

Apparently cold compresses after helps reduce the masses.

This is probably not recommended, but when I got some bad clogs last time I breast fed, I used my pump and cranked it up to high. It hurt like hell, but it got them out.

Actually I had heard that too. Not necessarily crank it up high but a pump can help since it's pull is stronger and more consistent.

Nursing and pumping as often as possible usually unblocks ducts. That combined with warm compresses, hot showers and firm massaging.
LO slept from 12-6:30 in his PNP (one change/feeding midway through) ! Thats 2 nights in a row! I'm thrilled. DH is still sleeping, and I've already ticked a few things off my life goals for today because Brandon is sleeping next to me on the couch, leaving my hands free. I've been trying to set 2-3 life goals each day. Today is getting him onto insurance and filing my short term disability. I HATE forms, so i'll be rewarding myself with cookies left over from his bris.
I'm going to try and assign a life goal to DH too...with the snow and salt and kitty litter to make the walkway safe, we have dirt and footprints all over the wood floor from the bris and someone (DH? Please?) needs to sweep and wash the floors. Yesterday I was able to clean the kitchen and dining room. Today the living room and upstairs needs to happen. I think DH is going to try and put it off till tomorrow and see if his mom will do it when she comes.

End of pregnancy woes: Not being able to tell if your cramping is from contractions or having to poop. This is my third kid. I should have this down by now.

I'm going to AW my toddler for a second. We got him one of those OK-To-Wake clocks, the one that turns green when it's time to get out of bed.. it's been working SO WELL. He was normally up and ready to roll at 5am, but we've pushed it to 6am this week and it's been awesome.
We're going to leave it at 6 for now, but once baby is here and we see how he does with her constant waking, we'll probably try to push it to a later time in 10-15 minute increments or something. If he would stay in bed until 7am that would be glorious!
boxerrrmama85 H does the same thing! Complains he is tired because wakes up for every feeding. Except all he does is open one eye before rolling over and going back to sleep. Occasionally adding in a line of commentary that makes no sense whatsoever.

izzy0927, so glad to here things are feeling better and your plan is leaving you less stressed!
dronkeygal, we went to see the lactation consultant yesterday at the pediatrician because i hadn't gotten him to latch while in the hospital and wanted to make sure we were doing it correctly now that he has. His weight was down even more from discharge, but we did a weighted feed while there, and they were really happy with what he was doing. They said that cause he was pretty big (8 lbs 14 oz) and we had trouble for the first 4 or 5 days, his weight was probably just starting to go back up. He'll get checked again on the 17th at his well baby visit, and hopefully will have started packing it on by then. We also started being better about tracking when and for how long he nurses, which I think will help. He is so lazy, he was falling asleep after about 10 minutes, but I didn't realize how short of a time that was. I've been better the past 2 or 3 days about waking him and getting him to eat for longer.

Morning ladies! Ugh I hear you all on the ups and downs of breastfeeding. Holy crap I never felt so exhausted than I did those first few nights where I'm passing out while trying to nurse LO. Wednesday night was horrendous for me and LO. He wanted to feed constantly between 2 and 5 am and had three diaper leaks, so three outfit changes. Wtf?
Last night was so soooo much better. I tried sleeping in the living room where we keep our pack n play and Ben slept great in the bassinet. Only woke up twice to feed and is now enjoying a little 4hour stretch of sleep in his bouncer seat (of course he fussed about the bassinet last time I tried to put him in), which momma would be too if I wasn't getting poked awake at 7 by older SS to ask me where the nail clippers were...really?? Then younger SS is sick right now and used the baby monitor to call down to me to get him a cup of water. Dude, bathroom is right next to your room, and there happens to be a sink, and I'm still restricted to using the stairs only once a day. So needless to say, I'm pooped like the rest of you.
But have a doc appointment to check on incision site and hopefully get some more privileges! And another peds appointment for LO to check his weight (lost 9% while at the hospital, but gained 5oz in two days at his appt Monday!). So yay for a busy day!
dronkeygal, I have been getting headaches too and I think I need to eat/drink more for the milk factory. It could be just hormones but I have noticed the headaches are lessened when I don't forget to feed myself.
There is a good breast feeding thread for 0-3 months (eta: under specialty and then breast feeding and then breast feeding newborns) and I really recommend seeing the LC. I did yesterday. Baby is tongue tied and she gave me info about pump speed changes that I don't think I ever picked up on with my first.

Just put in a call to the dr to see if they could squeeze me in today. I'm pretty sure I have a UTI. I thought it was just pain from having a catheter but I'm 15 days pp and it is not getting better. Luckily my MIL is off on Fridays so she's offered to go with me and watch little man while I'm at my appointment. She was going to just watch him here at the house but DH forgot his phone, so we're going to make a surprise visit at his office and show off our handsome man.
