I'd like to add thanking the figures who are speaking out. I called Harry Reid and OR senator Jeff Merkley's offices today to thank them for their comments.
This is what we're focusing on in my state's PN. People who have already called said that the staffer sounded tired like they had gotten tons of calls about it.
EXAMPLE SCRIPT: "Good afternoon! My name is ______ and I am one of Senator/Congressman ______'s constituents living at (address). How are you today? Can I please have your name?
I'm calling today to express grave concern about the recent appointment by our president-elect Donald Trump of Mr. Steve Bannon, who is known to be a white nationalist and anti-Semite. Are you aware of this news?
I understand that Senator/Congressman ______ does not have a say in whether this appointment goes through, but given the major increase in hate crimes we are seeing all over the nation, I believe it is imperative that Republican leaders in D.C. speak out formally and clearly against this appointment. Are you aware that the Southern Poverty Law Center says there have been more hate crimes and acts of violence against marginalized groups in this past week than there were immediately after September 11th?
I urge Senator/Congressman _______ to issue a statement condemning the appointment of Mr. Bannon and the hate crimes taking place all over our nation. I request that Senator/Congressman ______ contact me very soon to let me know when he'll be speaking out. Can I give you my contact information again, please?"
Great script, but don't Senators have to approve presidential appointments? (Referring to the line about not having a say). I could be wrong.

I have an observant Jewish friend who is arguing that Bannon isn't an anti-Semite, and is pro-Israel. Does someone have any concrete evidence beyond his ex-wife's testimony?

Well I emailed Paul Ryan and told him he was a self serving spineless coward for having "no issue" with Bannon. I'm pretty sure that will get me on some sort of list.
AmazingTulip what email did you use to contact Ryan?
There was a form on his website. I had to put in a Wisconsin zip code because it wouldn't let me use my own address. His website actually looks a little different today, which makes me think they got a lot of emails yesterday.

Breitbart News has run some pretty antisemitic columns.

Just spoke with someone on Cory Booker's (NJ) staff, who informed me he just released a statement. I found it on his Facebook page:
"Over the course of his campaign, Donald Trump degraded and demeaned Americans, threatened our rights, and attacked the privileges of citizenship. He will have a disastrous presidency if he governs that way, and he must show the American people with words and action how he will change direction. Many have offered to give him a chance to do so, despite his divisive campaigning, and he should not squander that opportunity to unite our nation. Elevating Steve Bannon—a man who leads a website that promotes truly radical views about race and religion, whose appointment was celebrated by neo-Nazis and denounced by the Anti-Defamation League, and who has been condemned by Republicans and Democrats alike—to one of the highest positions in the White House installs a man with fringe and dangerous ideologies just steps from the Oval Office. Bannon won't build bridges, he will burn them. He is unfit to advise America's commander-in-chief. Donald Trump should reverse the decision to hire him and chart a different course for the good of the American people."
The staffer told me he is very committed to this issue and I passed along my thanks.
I then called my other Senator (Robert Menendez), and his staffer told me Senator Menendez had just released a similar statement not five minutes ago. Here it is, also from his FB:
"In the 24 hours since it was announced that President-Elect Trump has appointed Steve Bannon to serve as his chief adviser, my office has received thousands of calls from New Jerseyans who are rightly upset and frightened that someone who has promoted hateful, bigoted rhetoric and radical ideas through his website has been elevated to such a powerful role inside the White House. Hate has no place in our public discourse, let alone in the people’s house. As we seek to move the nation forward in the wake of this divisive election, it is critical that the President-elect demonstrate that he intends to govern on behalf of all Americans. I join the millions of Americans in calling on the President-Elect to reject hate and discrimination and I will stand with them to fight for a government and an inclusive agenda that represents all of us."
This staffer was also very nice. I am VERY phone anxious, so I understand if you are too, but this was a great experience.
I love this idea I shared the petition when his appointment was announced and my BIL sent me a message saying he was sad he didn't think it would make any difference. I'm going to share these suggestions with him.

I called my senators today. I have pretty severe social anxiety about talking on the phone, but I still did it. Because me being uncomfortable for 2 minutes is not more important than a POC or LGBTQ person feeling uncomfortable forever.

Were they responsive?
I'm always interested in how they respond to callers. I don't know where everyone lives but I'm in a blue area so I knew their office would agree with me.
I'm in a very red area. It was basically just "uh huh, uh huh, can I get your contact info?" I'm sure I'll just get a letter in a few weeks that says sorrynotsorry. But I hope there are a lot of calls from my local PSN group.

DH and I are both extremely phone-phobic. We had a conversation this evening and are going to make phone calls to Ryan, McConnell, and our local representative together tomorrow.

Fuck, Mark Meadows has already issues multiple statements embracing Bannon. I don't do the phone but I just called and left a very pointed voicemail. Hell no.

WTF. Not speaking out against the appointment is cowardly but embracing it? W.T.F. This is exactly what we feared would happen, more and more people, elected officials and the general public alike, being emboldened to accept and embrace the hateful rhetoric and mindset. W.T.F.

Called my reps and senators this morning. I make phone calls for a living, but calling my elected officials always freaks me out. But their staffers were all SO nice.
I encourage those of you who are phone-phobic to just rip the bandaid off and call. It'll be done with in less than two minutes

I left my number and said I expected a response. I doubt one is coming, but I really hope they call. I called Burr and Tillis too. Burr's guy politely blew me off.

This is off topic but is your governor race decided yet? I suppose I could also look this up...
