I was one of those lucky teens that didn't break out much, but I'm paying the price now. I have been breaking out like crazy around my chin/jaw/lower cheek area for months and I can't seem to figure out a good regimen. Some of the acne products are too harsh on my skin, which is more sensitive now that I'm older. Halp!
I have always suffered from acne. Now that I'm older, it's almost always caused by something I ate or drank, instead of hormones, like soda, candy, sugar in general, etc. Junk food is no good for the skin. Overly touching your face can also make things worse due to oils. If you always wear makeup, perhaps it's time to let your face breathe a bit and take a break.
I have extremely sensitive skin. OTC products make my skin worse (so weird). I had a wash from a dermatologist, but I didn't see enough of a difference to keep it up and spend the money.
I wash my face every morning and night with a wash cloth and water. That's it. And it has helped the most. Plus avoiding large amounts of sugar.
TL;DR VERSION: I try to eat healthy, avoid touching my face, and avoid chemicals because they make things worse.
+1 to all of malvo. Chemicals and washes honestly just make your skin produce even more oils. They are unnatural, dry your skin out, and then basically turn oil production into overdrive 'cause they're like, 'OMG. WE ARE DRY. MOOOORE!'
I'd give your face a break for a few weeks and see if it clears up on its own! Stress can be a big part of it, too.
rvamama, I'm sorry you're dealing with acne. It's no fun. I didn't have any until I got pregnant. Like malvo and ladymike said, give your face a rest. I wear makeup almost never. I rarely wash my face with soap. I do wipe with witch hazel in the mornings. It seems to help if I don't mess with my face too much.

OK, I am crunchy too but 1. I wear make-up everyday and 2. I also have acne.
I use a cleansing oil-I think Neutrogena has one. I use a mail order brand. It's basically just olive oil and it removes make-up and stuff. I also use a ton of moisturizer, especially in winter. The drier my skin is the worse I break out. I also only wash my face in the evening-in the morning I use witch hazel. Hydration is key, though.
And this shit is life-https://www.amazon.com/Burts-Bees-Solutions-Targeted-Treatment/dp/B0027U1D5W?th=1 Just a dab on a pimple and it will dry up ASAP. You can also get it at Target.
Thanks ladies! malvo my mom said to stop using washes too and try to stick with just cetaphil only. I need some new face lotion so I'll check out some other options. I think which hazel is too harsh on my skin. ? Suggestions on a good brand?
I need to wear makeup. I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable with the state my face is in to go out without it BUT I don't put it on in the weekend until I know I'm going out AND I wash as soon as I get home. I use cheap foundation so perhaps it's time for a change there too.
