Following this thread- we are unexpectedly hosting thanksgiving for the first time this year. Looking mainly for new sides- I'm feeling like this is my chance to really "spice up" our usual thanksgiving menu!

I am hosting for the 3rd year. I will be doing the following:
Roasted Turkey (I've got my 15 pound bird in the freezer as we speak) Gravy Mashed Potatoes Salted Caramel Sweet Potato Casserole Bacon Fried Green Beans Stuffing/Dressing Cranberry Pear Sauce Rolls Pistachio "Salad" Pumpkin Pie Cranberry Custard Pie Chocolate Meringue Pie

mrsmonogrammed - Bacon Fried Green Beans are pretty awesome and easy!
Take a large, deep pan and cook up a package of bacon until good and crispy. Remove bacon, but leave grease. Add about 2 pounds of fresh green beans (I make my husband snap them for me while I am doing everything else). Mix well. Allow to cook for about 5 minutes. Thinly slice a purple onion. Add in. Allow beans and onion to cook, mixing often, until tender. Add salt to taste. Crumble bacon and mix back in.

mrsmonogrammed, I am also changing things up this year with my sweet potatoes. I usually do the standard sweet potato dish. This year I am making this and it looks awesome!!!
On the menu: Roasted turkey Homemade stuffing Mashed potatoes Sweet potatoes Green bean casserole Corn casserole Coleslaw Canned cranberry (it's all my family eats, too!) Rolls
Dessert: Pumpkin pies (I make mine with soymilk) Red velvet cake (my niece turns 16 on the 27th)
We will have a veggie & cheese tray to snack on, too.

Were going to H's dad this year. We've only been to his house one other Thanksgiving in our rotations, and with his health this year - H thought it was time. So not entirely sure what to expect, other than he's making some apple sausage stuffing and I'm bringing a chocolate raspberry cake, because "traditional" Thanksgiving desserts are seriously sub-par.
Sunday we're hosting Friendsgiving. I'm making: -turkey -pan drip gravy -mashed potatoes (red with skins still on) -green bean casserole -stuffing/dressing -rolls -cranberry sauce if time, trying this recipe
Wednesday we're hosting my family's 'Cousin Thanksgiving' which is exactly what you think it is. We're having soup and sandwiches. I'm making a vegetarian Tuscan Bean Soup and Turkey Soup with the carcass from Sunday. Also contemplating making chili but that might be over doing it.
For Thanksgiving at the IL's I get to bake! Apple pie based off of this apple pie recipe but I do half Granny Smith's and half Fuji apples.
We're celebrating H's birthday that day so I'm making him a rum cake, too. Based off of this rum cake recipe. I make it the night before/early in the morning. I let it cool the put it back into the pan. I then poke holes into it and pour the glaze through the bottom. Then I let it soak the rest of the day. It's always great...and rummy.
I also always make apple pie French toast Thanksgiving morning. I reserve some of the pie filling and put it over French toast. It's H's favorite.

Well, I finished my shopping this weekend. The bird is thawing in the fridge. I just completed my timeline to-do list so everything gets done by dinner time.
I may be sick as a dog. I may not get any help. But ready or not Turkey Day, here I come.
