Friday we had our appt with the pedi to discuss ds2's torticollis and plagiocephaly. Our plan for now is to go for PT/OT for his neck and see if his flat spot gets better once he's off his head a bit more and has better mobility in his neck. A helmet consult isn't off the table yet, but we will wait a bit before pursuing it.
We have a pediatric therapy place in our town, and they called me back this afternoon that they had some cancellations for tomorrow. So, ds2 has his first therapy appt in the morning. I'm a little nervous!
I'm at work! Don't tell, but I'm happy to be here. I hope Baby Girl is doing okay at home without us (she's with a nanny).
I'm only doing Monday and Tuesday this week and both days will be short. Next week will be more real!
I'm actually happy to be back to work too. My first week people kept asking me how I was doing like they expected me to burst into tears at any second.
meagpt22 she has gained four lbs since birth and is just over three months. She gained a little over a lb in the past month but continues to drop percentiles.
gratefulgirl we haven't done weighted feeds yet. I missed the pedi call this afternoon but expect to hear from them first thing in the morning to find out what we do next.
I've never had these issues in the past. I didn't do anything differently with DD but somehow feel like I've let her down. Like I don't hold her enough so she isn't eating enough. Irrational much?
I don't think there is anything wrong, my DD followed a similar pattern. High % birth weight then dropped to 30% by 2 months and stayed around there. Her initial weight was just very inflated because of all the fluid

Hugs to everyone struggling with sleep (from another tired mama!).
I'm so freaked out about how E is going to nap and sleep while we are out of town for Thanksgiving. A sleepless baby could make 5 days seem like an eternity...
Out of desperation, I totally just bought a Merlin suit and had it sent to my dad's house! Maybe it will work?
I've been MIA for weeks. I'm sorry. I miss you guys.
My current state of affairs - I'm back at work, full time, but I get to WFH 3x a week. DH eventually got 1/2 the money his crappy employer owed to him, but not the rest. He's on unemployment now. He STILL has conference calls almost every other day in which the bosses tell him and his CW's that the $ is coming. It is ridiculous. We're moving down to NC in January. Will be living with his parents until we decide to either rent or buy, depending on the job DH gets down there/how much $ he makes. I will be working for his sister and BIL who run a fun small (successful!) business, and who offered me only slightly less than I make now (And it will go a lot further down South!)
LO is a happy, playful, chunky baby, but he DOES NOT STAY ASLEEP AT NIGHT AND IT IS KILLING ME. There, that helps. I'm sort of on the verge of quitting breastfeeding because I don't know what to do and feel like maybe my body just can't keep up with his demands, but that makes me SO sad because I really do love it. You know, when it's not happening 6x a night.
Anyways, I miss you all and am going to try to start posting regularly over here again!!
NC is a great state but I'm a little biased you are moving to Charlotte, right?
6x a night is a lot, is he doing a lot more comfort sucking than actual eating? Babies don't just nurse for food, they also nurse for comfort, when not feeling well, stress, etc. My LO feeds every 2.5-3.5 hours all night long. It's exhausting but she's attached to the bed in an arms reach co-sleeper so I just pull her over & nurse while laying on my side & then put her back without even getting out of bed. It helps the transition quite a bit. I also noticed she sleeps in a very deep sleep from 7pm until 1-2am or so then after that point a lot of tossing & turning. I need to start getting to bed earlier to better align with her best sleep

Yeah I'm actually loving being back at work! It makes me miss my LO so much that I love every second I have with her outside of work. I feel like I have more life work balance & it makes me a better mom
shanny I feel really skeptical about the no feed zone. I dunno, he is just frigen hungry all the time and we loses his mind screeching. Like legit when I pick him up out of the crib, in the 10 seconds it takes me to sit down and unclip my shirt he is freaking the fuck out because Im not doing it fast enough. So i feel like H holding him with no food would no go over well. But I dunno maybe I'll get desperate enough to try it. hummingbird125 i have always felt like our posts were exactly the same. So much of what you have experienced from day one has been the same with me. And that holds true today. I cried this morning because I love nursing amd want to keep doing it but am afraid I'm not making enough to keep him full anymore. same with crappy sleeping ugh Hugs to you.
How is his weight gain & how often does he eat? It may be useful to do a weighted feed & see. Some babies stop eating once they are just enough satisfied but not stuffed. Like is he eating a ton maybe because he's only getting 2oz per time rather than 4oz kind of thing. My daughter used to do this and we eventually broke the habit. And my LC said, we needed to get her used to having a 3 course meal & not just snacks

Good luck! Pedi PT are usually the best of the best!

yea I'm pretty certain he does this, just stops when he's ok and not stuffed. Because he will only nurse one side, but when I pump for daycare it takes me both sides to fill a bottle (fill being only 3.5oz). No idea how to break the habit and get him to keep eating lol.

DD3 does this during the day (not at night, except last night...). The whole bonding while BFing? She gets so distracted smiling cutely she forgets to finish eating. Please bond after a full feed, sweet girl.
Sorry to be obsessed with sleep, but she slept solidly from 7-11 and then 11:30-2:30 last night. I slept so hard during that 3 hours after her 11 o'clock feed. Drool everywhere! 😉 Hopefully others got some sleep last night too!

Just another thought, when he sees you, ge knows milk is available. Having your H pick him up will comfort him but not immediately set off that , "Ohhh here's sonecwarm milk!" response. That will only apply if he is comfort nursing, though. If he is truly hungry he will keep fussing. That's why I usually send my H in to check if they fuss during a nap while he is home. It makes it easy to tell whether they are hungry or just need tending.

How do you know when LO is ready for solids? She's only 3 months now but we have her in the high chair with us at the dinner table and she's so interested in us eating. If the pediatrician says it's okay next month should I give it a go or just wait a couple of months?

I just started solids with DS. We've been having him sit in the high chair with us for meals and he just stares at us while we eat. He's enjoying it so far. There have been a few times where he won't take the bottle until he's had a few bites of thin oatmeal first.
ETA: DS is 5 months today (3.5 months adjusted) and we just started last week. At his 4 month appt, pedi just said to wait a little bit and give solids a try.
Night 3 of "no feed zone": R slept for two hours then started fussing. For 1 1/2 hours, he woke up 4 times to fuss and H soothed him back to sleep. Then he slept straight for 1 1/2 hours so he had just about 5 hours when he didn't need to nurse. We will still need to work on him staying asleep, but here's hoping. It isn't easy hearing him fuss even a little bit and not going to him, but I want to trust what the sleep consultant suggested and seeing in a few days how things progress.

spicysalmonroll - I posted in the "sleep woes" thread I made yesterday, but thought I should share here as well - DS's pedi actually prescribed him meds for reflux, over the phone last night - after we explained what we were dealing with. He only had one dose before bed last night (will be 3x a day), but he definitely slept better last night than usual. The only real symptoms he has is a lot of back arching while crying, and waking up so often to nurse. Maybe call yours if you haven't already and see what they think? It's too soon for me to say for sure if this will be a solution for us, but last night gave me hope.

Thanks! DD does the same thing at dinner. My mom jokes and says that she feels like it's feeding time at the zoo the way she watches us! I'll definitely ask the pediatrician next month at her four month checkup!

Your siggy is cracking me up. You're 53 weeks and 1 day pregnant, baby is the size of a 15 lb turkey and should be arriving any day! :-)

God I feel like I've been pregnant forever!!!! I haven't updated my siggy in so long!

I'm obsessed with sleep too, and that sounds wonderful! FX for continued good sleep!

I found with DD it took about a week to figure things out when we made changes and let her fuss/CIO.
Sorry for multiple posts: hummingbird125 that sounds exact like DS. He had silent reflux so was to figure it out. I gave up dairy but he's also on meds. The meds have helped a lot. If I forget a dose he's up every 2 hours.

Physical therapy was great! Ds2 was in a fantastic mood and was smiling, laughing, and chatting the whole time. He got a neck/shoulder massage, stretching, and play time (so basically, I want to go too!). They recommended coming twice a week, so we just. Have to wait to make sure insurance is okay with the plan.
quirks please take care of yourself. We're always here if you need to vent. Hugs!
My doc told me to cut my dosage of the anxiety meds in half. They're making me so nauseous and giving me headaches that are different than the ones I normally get. They start in the back of my neck and the pounding gets really bad sometimes. It's rough. Also, maybe tmi alert, orgasms aren't a thing for me now. It just won't happen. Nononono not giving that up!
How do you fit errands and out of the house activities into a sleep routine? I've been trying to follow the awake time limits during the day when we are at home to try to establish some sort of routine but I never know how to incorporate other activities. So I will try to put DD down for a nap 60-90 minutes after she wakes up, spend 30-60 minutes convincing her to sleep and then she will sleep about 30 min. Should I try to leave the house during the awake times so I can put her down for a nap in her crib or should I go during a nap time knowing that she will fall asleep in the car/carrier?
I know a routine is good for teaching good sleep habits but I have to say the days I don't worry about it and go out and just let her sleep in the carrier are so much less miserable than the days I spend hours trying to get a couple short naps at home.
steph I hope cutting the dosage helps you with the side effects. When I started on Celexa I had to halve the dosage because of side effects as well, that helped a lot with the nausea and dizziness I got. Unfortunately, it didn't help with the sexual side effects
