14joa31 - dd1 has a queen bed, but that's because we happened to have an extra queen when we moved. I'd probably go full if I was buying one for her. I'd only go with a twin if there was a space issue.
AFM, we were just starting to get some of our thanksgiving dinner prepped and our power went out. I have no idea why since it's not at all stormy today. My potatoes for the mashed potato sour cream casserole were boiling and are only halfway cooked.
I should probably get off the phone so my battery doesn't die...
Got my hair cut! It's a big difference, but I'm loving it so far. We'll see what happens when I try to style it tomorrow morning. And by style I mean put up.

The power company's outage website says estimated power restore time is 5:37 pm... that's over 3 hours from now. My phone is at 12%. Looks like I'm going to have to go for a drive....
I think H's grandma is genuinely concerned that I'm suicidal. She just posted on my picture of my new hair cut saying "looking happy, life is worth living". This is what happens when old people have Facebook. They misunderstand posts and freak out.

14joa31 we put our kids in regular twin beds at about 19months. They didn't fall out too many times silverspoon she generally gets everything we get in similar form. I don't change much other than straining off some of the liquid from stews like chili and then she gets the "stuff". Lsquared my kids bedroom says twin NellieOleson I'd be totally going out for a drive. Low batteries give me stress and keeping fridge doors closed stresses me out too.

We are on vacation (NellieOleson wtf it's cold and 12" of snow here now!!) and it's been awesome. We've shopped a bit, visited a brewery, hiked, swam, watched a movie and drank way too much wine. Fun fun fun!

14joa31, we first took off one side of DD1+2s' cribs when they were about 2ish, then when they were 4 and 3 we put them in a regular twin bed. I think they've each fallen out about2-3 times, but it's nbd. They're usually so out of it that I just put them back, tuck them in, and they're out. They don't even remember in the morning.
kcrkcs, yikes, woman. Lots of caffeine today! And may you have a better night tonight!
silverspoon, like others have said, a combination. If it can be cut like a French-fry shape then I do (like toast you can just slice into four "fries"), and I cut up grapes, blueberries, basically anything that is small and round.

I kind of wish we would have had 12" of snow there! Dd1 has never really seen snow, so that would have been cool. I can't really complain about the weather we had, though... We drank beers from the brewery on their patio wearing t-shirts, and walked around with ice cream cones from the candy store.
Also: question.... what kind of mittens do you have for your dd2? I know your girls are petite like my dd1 is, and I cannot find any that fit her. All the toddler size ones are massive on her hands, and the baby ones aren't shaped right or maneuverable enough for an active kid. We want to take the dd's up to the mountain to play in the snow soon, but dd1 has nothing to keep her hands warm.
kcrkcs - oh man about your dogs! that is crazy! they were smug until they experienced the aftermath!! Lollipop - I am dying about your GIL's "life is worth living" comment in response to your haircut! Just dying of laughter over here in my cubicle - thank you so much for that! She clearly doesn't get how the interwebs work!
And I had never considered a full-sized bed but we DO have one ... hmmm...
14joa31 I'm sure she thinks I'm suicidal. She seems to be really concerned and she keeps saying things like this. His family is all crazy, but she takes the cake.

I bought Hanna Anderson ones for the baby. They have the string to connect the mittens (it goes up the coat sleeve and down the other sleeve so they stay put). Haven't tried them yet but they look promising!
I'm going to need to invest in some warmer clothes if I have to keep walking S to school. I'm still not warmed up and I've been home for over an hour. And it's barely beginning to be Winter. It will be so much colder by mid-january.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you lovely American ladies!
Today while S is at school, my BFF and I are taking the babies to a craft fair. Right now M is fighting a nap, and S is playing in the living room. I'm going to miss our lazy mornings next year when S is at school for the full day

So exhausted. I postponed Thanksgiving since there's no dishwasher, DH is working late tonight, and DD1 had her regular 2:15pm early intervention group to go to, so it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving at all, not that it ever really does here. It's hard to believe I haven't been in the US for Thanksgiving in 14 years :/ The DDs were rather trying on my nerves this afternoon, though.

I hope those celebrating had a nice Thanksgiving! I'm so thankful for this community.
We've been having a nice visit with the ILs. Last night H and I got a date night (our first date since baby was born!) and it was wonderful. And I got laid. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner tonight and baby got to try a bit of pumpkin pie - he loved it.
Hi Ladies! Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Hope everyone is having a good time with family and friends and staying somewhat sane
crimsonandclover , it makes me sad you havent been in the states for that long for Thanksgiving. Has your family ever come to visit you for the holiday? We are still pretty much at 2 naps a day, unless DS wakes up after 8am. Then he takes a longer nap around noon.
silverspoon , i have to make my Christmas cards too and send them out! As for food, we are slacking a bit because DS is still pretty hooked on the purees. He likes to munch on cheesesticks, breads like waffles, toast or pizza, spaghetti, cheeto puffs, yogurt melts and graham crackers. I'm trying to keep the foods a little bit bigger so he can practice holding it in his hand because I find he gets super frustrated when they are cut up too small and he cant get them in his mouth or they slip out of his hand.
scorpioscuba , I WISH i could come over there and help you. I feel so awful that you guys are still struggling with this awful bug.
tinydancer , glad your LO is ok after the sausage! I would definitely want my nanny to text me whatever she was feeding him to be sure it was ok by me.
Lollipop , geez gram! Lighten up! Your hair does look fabulous though! I have to get mine done soon too but i keep putting off calling for an appt.
14joa31 , we have felt and material type ornaments with a yarn or tweed string to hang up. They are super cute and pretty. My mom gets them from Marshalls or TjMaxx. We have DD in a queen because we downsized after moving last year and we had the extra bed and didn't want to buy another smaller bed.
kcrkcs , oh no I'm so sorry you are sick I hope the baby and H go easy on you and you get better ASAP.
NellieOleson , i hope the power outage didn't ruin your cooking plans too much! I would be so frustrated.
Things have been pretty stressful mainly because DH is home and we're butting heads. My sister is also home this week and it's been so much fun hanging out with her and the babies and laughing our heads off at the dumbest things. I miss her terribly. I got some black friday shopping done with the help of our gift thread! DD had a play date this afternoon and it was so fun we might go back to the rec center tomorrow. DS has another tooth popping through and DD is doing a tiny bit better behaviorally. Trying to plug away at my to do list but DH is making things difficult, ugh.
I honestly don't know what I would without my BFF. I asked on FB if anyone was willing or able to watch S Monday morning while we take M to the head shape clinic, and she was the only one who even responded, much less offered to watch him. So she's getting up early, packing up her baby coming over to hang out with S, and if the appointment runs too long, she'll even take him to school for us. I love her so much

icequeen, nope, November is just not a great time for visits. They come close to Christmas before - like a week or two after, but never for Thanksgiving. And since it's not a holiday here and the closest holidays are either Nov 1 (All Saint's Day) or Christmas, we would have to take off work too much to go there.
And, um, your baby sleeps until after 8am??? Envious. When DD3 sleeps in it's until 6:30 am.
To make up for the lack of Thanksgiving (I'm sure), Germany has awesome Christmas markets. Our town's is today, and I'm looking forward to a day of cookies, hot spiced wine, sausage, and shopping. Since we live in a small town, the market isn't nearly as commercialized as they have become in a lot of big cities. Almost all of the booths at ours are run by local business, clubs, or individuals who sell handmade things. Our preschool's parents council is selling homemade cookies (I helped pack the bags and am planning on getting at least 5. They all looked so good!!), bread mixes in mason jars, and some crafts. Can't wait! And this afternoon we'll be going with one of the Syrian refugee families that lives 2 doors down from us. They have 6 kids, 2 boys (oldest and youngest) and 4 girls in the middle, 2 of which are about the same ages as DDs 1+2. They get along really well, and I'm excited to go with them to see their first Christmas market I'm planning on buying all the waffles and cookies for them - hope their parents don't mind (considering the mom was feeding the 15-month-old chips and letting him sip her cappuccino when I visited yesterday I'm guessing they won't!).
