I had a regular MW appointment today. I got back the results of my GD screener and it was 134. The MW said their cutoff is 135, and a pass is a pass so I don't have to do the full test. I said great and we moved on.

But when I got home I read online that the cutoff suggestions (from the ADA I think) are either 130 or 140. I shouldn't have googled, I know. I just keep wondering if I should be taking the full test just in case.

So one of the "check-lists" I have for things to do before the baby says to "interview pediatricians."

Did other people interview pediatricians? What did you ask? I feel like I don't know anything....my plan was to just pick a pediatrician from the group I go to at the new location a couple blocks from my house. I need to pick before I can register at the hospital, which I am supposed to do soon, apparently.

Can they just continue to monitor levels via urine tests and do the full test if something comes up moutonrouge? I didn't do the glucose test last time in consultation with my mw who said we could do it late if anything unusual came up.

Movember is over today and I can't wait for the mustache to be gone. We can finally do our holiday picture and get our cards sent.

glb30, we didn't interview pediatricians. I asked SIL who she recommended and went with who she said.

One of my pups decided to say hi to the baby, while I was struggling to get my hoodie on. Our house is covered in sheetrock dust at the moment so she left a nice little imprint on my belly.

I am supposed to do this next, now that I've got the baby classes checked off. 

The MW mentioned that some pediatricians in my area have lactation consultants on staff, which might be nice. My BFF said they did ask pediatricians if they see anyone who does not vaccinate, since they are very pro-vaccinations. And she said to check their sick walk-in hours, since some offices have really limited times for that. 

But I think convenience factor is high since you have to go so often.

glb30 if you use Facebook, ask for recommendations on there. Every time someone I'm friends with asks for a pedi suggestion they get like 25+ responses.

I could ask about this. I haven't had any urine tests since my first office visit but that seems like a simple enough solution. I go back in a few weeks so I'll just ask then.

Also look for separate well and sick areas. It's kind of a luxury but you don't want to take your newborn in for a weight check and have tiny typhoid Mary coughing everywhere.

glb30 - We didn't interview pediatricians. DD just goes to our family practice doctor, who is a couple of blocks away from our house. So far, I've been happy with him. We'll do the same for this LO. If we run into issues that required more specialized care, then I would look into a different doctor. For the things we've had, the family practice doctor has been just fine. Our urgent care situation in town just changed, but last time i checked they only took babies over 6 months. We do have the ability to call an on-call nurse 24/7 and I have used that with questions. I also haven't had issues getting into the doctor when DD was sick, so I haven't thought of the urgent care option as often.

I got pink eye over the weekend, so I've been dealing with that. I'm hoping the eye drops start working soon. It's more annoying and gross than any actual pain, so I'd like it to just go away.

I've started to refer to the baby in my head by a certain name even though DH and I haven't decided on a name. I really need to quit doing that in case that's not the name we go with. It's the only name that's felt right though.

glb30 I ask my OB for recommendations. She gave me a list. I checked out their website and one place stuck out to me and even said call to come in for a free tour and ask all the questions. So we did. They showed us around and basically told us all we needed to know. LC on stuff, you pick one of the doctors to be the PCP so you will have them for all well visits, all about how sick visits work and hours, vaccinations, on call, etc. I loved that they came to the hospital every single day starting the day Clara was born to make sure she was doing ok!

glb30 We went off recommendations too. One thing that has really come in handy is the office hours. We go to a group practice that is open on Saturdays and Sundays (not all day and only sick visits on Sunday). Even if our doctor isn't available, we can see any of the other 4 doctors. The flexibility is key for our busy schedule. They don't have separate waiting rooms, but always schedule the little babies as the first appointments in the morning to get them out of there before any sick kids come in.

😱 it's crazy how different sized kids are. Clara had her 2 1/2 year appointment yesterday and weights 25 pounds and is 36 inches tall. She can wear 18 months pants still but they are too short so she needs the 2T pants for length but 18 months are perfect in the waist

I have good news for those of you still to take the glucose tolerance test. What they have you drink is one heck of a lot better than it was with my first girls. Seriously. They gave me a fruit punch flavor. It was completely clear. Life was okay
