I'm new here so here is my intro. My husband and I have been together for 11 years, 4 of which we have been married. I'm white and he is black. We have one child together who turns 2 in December. Intro over. So I do have a question. Our sons hair starting growing shortly after he turned 1 and I have no clue what to do with it. I have straight hair. His hair is light in color like mine and texture is more like mine but it's tight curly like DH. Here is a pic to better show what I am trying to explain.
Anyways so I wash it and comb it (which he hates) but find it goes back into a rats nest as soon as its dry. I do use a conditioner spray to comb his hair in the moring but once it's dry it looks like I didn't touch it.
Welcome pengy86! Are you using any kind of moisturizer on his hair besides the conditioning spray? What type of shampoo are you using? My oldest has curly hair and I really like the Shea Moisture products for her. I use the Shea Moisture Kids shampoo and conditioner and the coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie after washing.
lecky11 he had bad cradle cap so we are still using that. I know we need to switch that out but like I said I have no clue what to try. I just happened to look up the conditioning spray on amazon one day and started to use that. It's the curly q's moist curls detangler. I will definitely look those up. Thanks for the recommendation! Also, is there a better comb/brush to use? I'm still using his baby set. Like I said I have no clue what to do.

I'm sure the shampoo is drying his hair out, especially if you are washing it every day. That's another thing to cut down on. I haven't tried that detangler; we use the Cantu for Kids detangler only because it's cheaper than other ones I've seen.
I still use the baby brush if I'm doing ponytails because it's soft, but I use the comb in the link below.
Welcome! I don't have any personal experience with black hair, but maybe you could get some recommendations from your ILs? It looks like lecky has lots of good advice too.
