Sorry I haven't been around much, this week was busy and then we had my sister-in-law and her husband come in yesterday. They came under the pretense of meeting C but LSS, we are basically just a free hotel for them. DH was not amused. I resisted saying, 'I told you so'.
So they're leaving this morning and after that, we are just going to hang out today, be lazy, and do what we want 😬
We're going to have a busy day today. I have a hair appointment in a couple hours. It's going to be so nice to leave the house by myself and you know I'm going to take my time!
One of my IRL N16 friends is coming over later with her kids so they can meet C and we can meet their new LO. She was actually due this week but her kid came a couple weeks early.
Other plans for the weekend are Christmas tree, start moving bathroom things into the vanity, and clean garage so we can finally park both cars again.
Just gave the babies baths. Why does little mans junk smell so bad no matter how much I clean it?! I've tried letting him air out with just Gerber cloth diapers on but he pees every two minutes so he doesn't get much dry time. Any other tips?
LO has been awake for like an hour and a half. We played with some rattly toys, listened to mysic, and did tummy time. Now she's all fed and keeps nodding off but then wakes herself up by pooping. I'm finding it hilarious--MOTY!
For real though I'm about to go change her again and then actually try to swaddle and rock her a bit because I figure she must be tired at this point.
Ooh if the northerners do a get-together I may possibly be in, my parents have a place in Maine and I fully intend to pack up the kids and spend a lot of time there this summer!
Ok, guests are gone (byeeee) and DH took B for a haircut, so the house is nice and quiet and I can nurse C and eat some cheese danish in peace. And then start washing sheets/towels and tidying up. The LizInFL hotel is officially closed for a couple weeks (until the ILs come back at Christmas...I may move in with my parents that week!)
Morning. Relaxing with a sleeping baby on my chest and watching Parenthood. MIL is coming to meet N this afternoon, TBD if she stays the night.
I finally got the baby snowsuit from my sister, so now need to decide when to do zoolights, national Xmas tree, and some other outdoor things in DC. There are only 2 weekends before Xmas this year, not enough time!
danib, so you're not too jealous, H and I have already gotten in a fight about where to put the tree and how we go about doing it. And it has carried into snarkiness the rest of the morning. It started because he said he needed validation that his idea for where to put the tree was best, and he was not joking. Are you kidding me dude, grow up.

kleigh I am excited! We still need to get a toilet and have plumbing hooked up.. and get glass for the shower.. and the rest of the hardware. But the major construction is done and in excited to start clearing out the clutter from the spare bedroom!
tallblonde Only 2 weekends? I didn't realize that but you're right.
I love DC at Christmas. FB reminded me today of the trip DH and I took there 4 years ago this weekend. We stayed at the Willard, hit all the museums, ate amazing food...so fun. The city was so beautiful all decorated and lit up. I am looking forward to that aspect of living in VA--being close enough to easily get into DC for a weekend.

The Christmas on a weekend really screws up the weekend schedule. That sounds like an awesome trip, the Willard is so gorgeous and right by the national tree. Def need to bring B and C up to see the train set, kids love it.

Good tip about the train, will definitely file that one away, thanks!
It's cold and rainy here. Gross. My ILs are here for the weekend so extra help and having them buy us food! Yay!
I just finished some breakfast tacos and am enjoying my Starbucks chai latte while DH holds Lilah and Lillian is chillin with grandma. It's almost 11 am I haven't even gotten dressed yet.
I really want to get our tree today. My car is big enough we can put it in the back instead of on top. We need to do our Christmas cards and I think we are doing Christmas pjs in front of the tree this year.
Otherwise, maybe we'll make cookies and tonight we are going to out for bbq.
Eta: And I also would love a gtg next summer. DH and I were talking about going to the NE anyway for vacation. My family is from NJ and I haven't been back in too long. No one wants to come to Texas in the summer. Lol. I love my mommy club, but I wish we could all hang out too.

Hey all - have also been MIA this week. MH went back to work and let's just say the wheels kind of came off for a few days. I'm hoping today will be better. Quick question - how long are your babies napping for during the day? DS2 is so much more awake now and he seriously just cat naps all day long. Like 30 minutes is a long nap for him. I know they say not to make daytime naps too much like nighttime (ie leave shades up etc) but I'm worried he isn't sleeping enough! He is sensitive to noise and with a noisy toddler the poor kid gets woken up before he really even gets a chance. Also is refusing to nap anywhere that is not his RNP or on someone.
ETA: GTG would be great! I'm game depending on timing/location
shedreamsincolor I'm sorry you had a rough couple days with YH back at work. As far as naps here, ours vary. Could be half hour and then some days (like today) they had a 3.5hr nap, woke to eat, and are napping again.
shedreamsincolor hugs solo parenting 2 is no joke. It will get better. Ds is much more alert these days too and really only napping if I hold him so I feel your pain. I am wearing him a bit so he is napping fairly well during the day but if I didn't weer him he wouldn't for sure.
shedreamsincolor, DD still sleeps the majority of the day and night. In a 24 hour period she spends about 2-2.5 hours nursing, and I'd say another 2-3 cumulative hours wide awake (usually she has one wakeful time of 1.5-2 hours tops and then some shorter snaps here and there).
If your LO is sleeping longer stretches at night then he might be more wakeful during the day. I kind of prefer when they sleep during the day though because at least with my babies it seems to make them sleep better at night.

dashook - ugh I wish he was sleeping longer stretches. 3 hours tops at night but mostly 2 hours or so. I totally agree sleep begets sleep and I feel like the crappy daytime naptime isn't helping our nights. aggiebug - thanks. It was a long week. I may need to try wearing him more as he definitely sleeps best and longest in the sling. MH is a teacher/coach and is in season so being gone 6a to 6p (or 9p on match nights) is the norm 6 days a week. I totally lost it at about 3 am last night on him because hes at a tournament all day and I'm here with the two kids (and DS1 is sick with a cold- thanks to his family who was here and sick last weekend). I'm just wiped. I know this will get better and is only temporary but man the day to day is rough right now.

shedreamsincolor This for us, too. C just woke up from a catnap, hung out for a bit, nursed, and will hopefully be comatose for awhile.
I've definitely had some hairy days with the two kiddos...late afternoons are the worst time of day, IMO, bc I'm exhausted, DS still seems to have energy to spare, and DH is almost home but not quite. I tell myself survival is the name of the game right now; I want an attagirl if everyone is alive and clothed when my H gets home at 5
shedreamsincolor, LT for hugs. That sounds pretty rough, especially with DS1 being sick. I give you huge props because I haven't really attempted any true solo time with both kids yet. I hope the little guy starts sleeping longer stretches and you can get a little break soon.
I have the song from the end of the Hangover in my head..."what do tigers dream of, when they take a little tiger snooze?" #random
DH is out with B, C is sleeping in the swing, and I think I might close my eyes for a minute, too. My Gators play Alabama in the SEC Championship in an hour. We'll likely lose badly and it's going to be like watching baby seals get clubbed, but miracles DO happen on occasion and I'm nothing if not loyal, so I'll tune in anyway.
