Well, I dropped my keys down the elevator shaft. H wasn't home so I had to ring the super and ended up waking him on his day off. And then H texted to say he was on his way home, so I woke the super for nothing, and he was PISSED. I guess he's going to get an extra big Christmas gift this year...
bocaburger oh noooo. I always envision this happening to me with my cell phone on the elevator at work. It's the main reason I keep my phone in my purse the entire elevator ride now. Lol.
I skipped my workout this morning to sleep in and snuggle DS and play with DD1 and DD2 in the fresh snow. I was feeling lazy at first, but now I think I made the right decision. I love the snow!
Ugh I slipped on a patch of ice while carrying DD. She was in the sling and didn't touch the ground at all and only cried briefly, not her pain cry. I think she is fine, hopefully she didn't get shaken up too much.

My kid was screaming to eat every 1.5 hours. I had to pack extra bottles for daycare and backup formula dispenser just in case. It lasted a little over a week.
Hi. DD was a screaming mess this morning and finally a little after noon she had a big stinky diaper. We just fed her again and she's passed out on H. I managed to try some footprint painting with her for a few minutes. She sat in her sit-me-up chair and I dipped her foot in the paint and brought the paper up to her foot. Her hand was not happening. I grabbed her wrist and she immediately made a fist so NOPE

Oh no! Did you hurt yourself?
I'll have a pretty good bruise on my knee but I'm ok. It was just really scary falling with DD.
When baby gets tired, she gets really vocal, like screaming and screeching and babbling all different ways. She also gets really active and kicks all over. I take her in the bathroom with me every night while I do DD1's bath, and she's usually pretty much ready for bed at that point. We have the best time because all the "yelling" is so funny. I'm sorry she's tired, but I am loving those cute moments.
I just went to check on the babies before bed and found M on his belly (swaddled) with his face smushed into the side of the bassinet. So scary! He had never rolled back to belly before.

I guess we're done with swaddles...
Very scary!! But you made it a while in the swaddle. Hopefully you find a good transition.

EllieT I'm sorry that sounds terrible. ((Hugs)) have you thought about using a swaddle transition? I know you're not in the US but maybe some of the same things sold here are available by you. We just started using Magic Mer.lin Sl.eepsuit and so far it's amazing. There's also Zipa.deeZip and swaddling with arms out. DD also moved her arms like crazy so we want with something that held her arms some.
As far as the screaming, do you think he might be teething? Maybe give some pain reliever and see if that helps?

Ugh EllieT I'm so sorry, that sounds really challenging. Has he been evaluated for reflux? I wonder if he's waking up because he's uncomfortable. If that were the case you could hopefully try some medicine and see if that helps.

I am so sorry to those who are not sleeping. I do not know why more people don't talk about this as the hard part - when kids often sleep worse and your adrenaline is d.o.n.e. We have roughish nights here with gas still.
DD3 just learned to shriek for fun. She is lying there practicing. My poor ears. DD2's saying, "Baby's loud." May this phase be short!
I posted in the stats thread that my pediatrician has changed recommendations on solids to strongly encourage starting between 4 and 6 months. I plan to see how DD3 is doing on sitting in the high chair soon. She is starting to show some interest.
During the day this kid eats soooo often it's insane. We never go more than 3 hours. Usually he's eating again by 2 hours. He was doing really good at night. Eating around 9 and then at 4:45, then at about 8 but he's been getting up to eat around midnight now, and 4:45, and 6:30, then 8 again.
He's definitely growing. He's so heavy! This has been going on for quite a few days now. All this breastfeeding is exhausting for me.
Ugh, I've passed the 'my kid is for sale'-stage and am now ready to just give him away. Why won't he sleep??!?
We're at a month now with multiple wake up and bad sleep and it doesn't seem to get any better. Or the night between Sat and Sun did seem a little better, he still woke up every hour or every two hours but I only nursed him once, for the other wake ups it was enough to just pat him a bit. I thought maybe we were finally about to be over this shitty period. But oh no. Definitely not.
Last night he woke up just as much (alternating wake ip at 1-ish and 2-ish hours all night long). And patting him was definitely not enough. He screamed like I've never heard before, an angry loud yell, and didn't settle down no matter what we did until I finally forced the boob into him. Then he fell asleep with boob in mouth. He was just squirming and twisting like a mad at every wake up and the only way to have him sleep (not very long though, remember wake ups every hour) was right next to me after falling asleep on the boob. Trying to move him woke him up. We had to stop swaddling because he rolled over and now he's flailing and scratching himself every night. Oh and playing with his feet. But the screaming last night was a new thing. Usually he's just huffing and puffing snd grunting and squirming. I just don't know what to do.
This was my night last night exactly. I've talked about it some in the teething thread & sleep training threads. I'm at a loss for what's going on. Teething? Growth spurt? The *real* 4 month sleep regression?
Oh and daycare just called ...she's refusing to nap and won't finish her bottle.

Even if baby doesn't have readiness signs? Mine has none and she's 4.5 months.

She did say to look for solid head control as a minimum and was OK with waiting until 6 months, just not beyond. Our high chair requires LO to sit pretty well; it does not have a recline or any padding. I'm not starting until DD3 can sit in it.
I'll admit here that I let the baby try a tiny carrot the other day. It was cooked and soft. I honestly gave it to him because I hate carrots and I just didn't want to eat it.
He politely spit it out and gave me the evil eye.
I haven't told anyone IRL because I've been so adamant about not giving him food and I don't want them to think it's ok now since I gave him some. It's still not ok unless I'm the one giving it to him.
I think my baby might be close to ready for solids. He sits up in the bumbo and the high chair we have just fine. He's fat as can be but always seems so hungry. And when he watches us eat he looks like "please give me that please" haha

OMG the shrieking. The last couple weeks there has been far, far too much shrieking in my house.
How can you tell if get are interested in food? DD tried to stuff some arugula in her mouth a couple days ago, but I think that's just because she tries to stuff anything within grabbing range in her mouth.
I tried eating cheese again on Friday. Every night since then has been terrible. Up every 1-1.5 hours either wanting to eat or with gas/stomach pain neeeding me to bicycle or scrunch up her legs. Pedi agrees it sounds like a mild milk protein intolerance and thinks I should keep not eating dairy. I forgot to ask what that would mean for introducing foods though, oops.
And I asked about the jogging with her and she said it was fine after 6 weeks, lol. Now I just meeed to make a decision about a jogging stroller.

pttomato, you can ask your pediatrician of course but here babies start with eating carrots or pumpkin. No milk in those foods. My friend had a baby that couldn't eat milk or soya products so she couldn't either. He is now almost 2 can can tolerate small amounts of milk products every day. He just seemed to mostly grow out of it.

My pediatrician said the official guidelines are still 6 months, but recent research shows that earlier exposure helps decrease food allergies. She said before we introduce solids they need to have good head control (M is pretty close but G's head still wobbles a lot) and should be showing interest in food. She recommends we start eating in front of them and putting them in the high chairs at meal time so they can start to notice food.
