DS has been eating oatmeal each morning. We started this last week when he would refuse his 9am bottle. He happily eats his oatmeal then will take most of his bottle. I think I'm going to start mixing some fruit purees into the oatmeal soon.
Eta: As far as cues, he sits up with support and sits well in his high chair, doesn't push the spoon out of his mouth (we practiced using the spoon by putting some breast milk on it), and opens his mouth when the spoon is near.
Question for moms with older kids - when buying a snowsuit, do you normally have to size up? Or if she wears 2T in regular clothes, would I order that size? Thank you much!

We always buy LLBean. It runs huge so we size down one (and they skip from 12-18 mo. to 2T, there is no 24 mo.). They last 2 years even on my fast growing kids and wear so well all 3 girls will use them.
ETA: so DD1 who is now a size 6 is wearing a 4 snow suit. DD2 who is at the tail end of 2T will wear a 12-18 mo. and will likely wear it again next year.
Pediatrician said R could start some solids so he has tried avocado (mixed with milk) and quinoa cereal (mixed with milk). He does well with sitting up and opens his mouth when the spoon comes near.
Stayed up too late but it was worth it - I took a nice, long, relaxing bath with a book, music, and a scented candle. I feel great. Pumping now and then off to bed. Hope everyone has a good night! Sleepy dust to all!

Wow, those do run big! I tried on DD's 18 month suit just to see and it was way too small. I'll have to look into LLBean. I was looking at a snowsuit from the Carter's website, but I wasn't convinced it would be warm enough.
EllieT all the squirming and screaming sounds like it could be gas. My DD had a lot of gas troubles as an infant (and older too but learned to work through it). That sounds rough though. Or as bocaburger said it could also be reflux. Meds have helped my DS so much.
Oh man. That moment when you've gotten your baby fed, changed, dressed, and happily settled in the swing, and you finally sit down to enjoy your coffee...

...and then she poops.
This happens to me all the time!! She always poops first thing in the morning so I really should know better by now!

So I was trying to follow a chart of appropriate wake times for 4 month olds - and I think it just doesn't work for E. Pretty sure all the trouble with naps is that I was putting him down undertired. Today I tried following the time when daycare puts him down - and it seemed like so long from when he woke up this morning. But it totally worked! He went down happy, talked to himself for a few minutes, and fell asleep! Whoah.
Yay hannahbear - how long are you keeping him up for. Let? We've been doing 1.5-2hrs with DS (3hrs before bedtime).
Just did a little over two hours before the first nap this am. Before I was doing 1.25-1.5 hours. Maybe it was a fluke, but it seemed much easier! Though he's been up for a little over an hour since his nap, and he already seems sleepy.

I'm not sure if this is the right method but I go by her cues rather than the time. I look for her to be yawning, rubbing her eyes, or gazing off in the distance. As soon as I spot this if I bring her immediately into the bedroom and try to put her down for a nap in the rnp she tends to settle herself down pretty quickly. Although she usually doesn't sleep for more than 20 to 30 minutes. It does usually end up being about every two hours, maybe a little more

Hey everyone! I miss you all, I have been really busy with work, and had a sick baby and a sick husband last week so then I had to stay home and get even more behind at work. So haven't been around here too much lately. E is just shy of 5 months. He started on rice cereal mixed with breastmilk and he is totally into being fed! At first it was funny because his tongue only knows how to thrust out to work a nipple, so he kept thrusting the food right out but he's getting the hang of it! Haven't tried any veggies yet but probably real soon. He still sleeps like absolute crap at night. But he's cute as all hell lol. He doesn't ever laugh and that makes me sad, his smiles are so cute that I am dying for him to start giggling.
H and I have been fighting nonstop about the dumbest shit. Like every day there's some comment about one of us not doing enough, not doing something the right way, not having sex enough, etc. It's getting real old and real stressful so I can't wait for us to start getting sleep and get on the same page again. My best friend said the exact same thing happened to her with both kids and by 6 months they were back to themselves, so here's to hoping. I always imagined this stage would be so happy and magical but it's definitely not.
Hi ladies! Just wanted to quickly pop in and wish everyone Happy Holidays! I know it's been forever since I've checked in but hope you all are doing well. I'm going to try to find some time to catch up on how you all are and your littles as well! Miss M is three days shy of turning 4 months already and her 4 month appt will be on Friday. Can't believe how quickly our babies are growing up!
Again hope you all are well and so many hugs to you guys!! Miss you all & will try to check back in soon 💜

We do around 2 hours too. Those charts only work if your kid is on the same number of naps as the author's kids.
Sakinah Aww, that's horrible. Babies are so special, it's hard to imagine anyone missing out like that. He is definitely lucky to have a mom like you though!
Sakinah aww I'm so sorry it sounds like you made the right choice by divorcing/separating even though it's been so hard. I can only imagine how sad you must feel for your son, but like annbuhdan said, you are a great mom and he's lucky to have you!
annbuhdankatelm thank you! I feel like I'm the lucky one! I love being a mom and I think that's where I get so wound up in trying to do what's best for him. But, of course, that's just parenting lol.

hey guys - Sakinah, I'm jealous of your LO's laughing! DS has laughed for us on 4 separate occasions (2 of which we have on video, woo!), but most of the time he just gives us a smile like "Good try!" or "That's funny, just not THAT funny." Kid is really making us work for it.
spicysalmonroll - Sorry you and your H have been fighting :-( Not getting sleep makes everything so much worse and makes everyone's fuses that much shorter. It sucks,
Anyways, I haven't been around much because work has been INSANE. My boss has turned into a complete asshole and even though I could swear on my son's life that my work has not suffered since I've been allowed to WFH 3x a week, my boss is not happy with the arrangement and more or less warned me that it needs to end soon, and "we'll talk after the holidays."
Little does he know I'm giving my notice on MONDAY because H and I are moving to Charlotte, NC next month!!! I cannot wait to see his face....
DS has been the smiliest, happy baby lately. He is so friggin strong and LOVES to stand (with support, of course). He reminds me of a gymnast who just "stuck the landing" because he keeps his feet together and legs perfectly straight - knees locked. I know he's going to be walking early, and I am so not ready for that! I wasn't ready for him to roll both directions before he was 3mo either - kid is keeping me on my toes...
Sakinah I read last night out I'm just getting a chance to respond. you are an amazing mom. I'm sorry other people in your life are such jerks. Your guy has you!!! He's so lucky to have such a great mama.
I have been down and out with a stomach bug since Tuesday. Taking care of a baby while sick is just unfair.
She stayed home from daycare with me today and at 10am I was all woozy and tired. I put her in the swing and laid down. We both napped for three hours. Bless you, Baby Girl.

Wow, so glad to hear that she napped for 3 hours with you! Sorry you are both sick
Gas pains I hate you! In babies especially. Last night DS was up at 10, 12, 1 and slept on DH until 4. Then was up from 4 until right before my alarm went off. At 4 he screamed bloody murder and then had an outfit changing poop. I'm already looking forward robbed tonight.

She doesn't even have stomach thing (yet). She has a terrible cough and is congested. I can't wait to swap.
