Hmm we did our second Hep B at 1 month. Maybe they wanted us in to keep checking his weight and just did it since we were there. At least it's one less shot to worry about at 2 months.
This is us. First Hep B at the hospital and second Hep B at our one month appt. One less shot to get at the 2 month. We also had a 3 day appt and a 2 week appt just for growth.
sophiegrace I echo everything you said about pretend routines with Adeline. She gets sooooo thrown off for the entire day if she doesn't go straight into a nap or if she's woken prematurely by something.
Both babies were born with hair but Adeline more than Alec. But it's starting to fall out, it's so weird. They look like Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Like this::
I may have only posted to social media a 1-month shot that is dark and you can't tell - I'll save the clear version for us.

This is us also. 3 day check, one week check and then a 2 week check is scheduled for next week. As far as I know we'll also have a 1 month and 2 month check (we did with DS1). Then from there I believe it's months 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 2 year and then just annually after that.

Lol kleigh! I remember DS1 losing a lot of his hair too. He actually ended up with a bald spot on the back of his head from the bassinet I think. It grew back but it was always a different texture than the rest of his hair. I just recently noticed that that coarse patch is gone.
We are up for feed #1. She's kind of passed out after the first side on me, but I know how she rolls. Eat, a short nap in mommy, eat again, and then back to sleep for real.
It's so interesting to me how different pediatricians have slightly different schedules in the beginning. After 2 months I think it's all the same. Lillian went at 4 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, and 2 months. Lilah will be 4 days, 2 weeks, and 2 months. We didn't have to do the 1 week for the weight check since she was already gaining weight back at 4 days and no 1 month this time.
sophiegrace I'm sorry you had a rough day. With the bottle, Lillian refused to take a bottle. Like, I think we got her to take a few sips here and there, but basically she would just cry until I fed her. I'm sure if we'd been persistent she would have taken one eventually. Some babies take a while to adjust to the bottle I think. Even Lillian drinks from a sippy now which isn't exactly a bottle but same concept. It took time, but she got there. Keep trying and she'll figure it out.
kleigh Lol. Lillian's hair never fell out and was pretty even all over her head, but Lilah was born with longer hair in the back and shorter fuzz on top so she has a similar look going on. It enhances her old man looks.

I feel like we were at the pediatrician so much in the first month. We had weight checks at 1, 2 weeks and 3 weeks due to his jaundice. The one month was technically at 5 weeks. It's going to be weird to go a whole month before the next appointment.
MOTN preemptive wake up was successful! Took L into other room, checked diaper, breastfed without tears(!!!), and got him back in his bassinet without waking DH. I'm still not great at reading early signs of hunger (especially at night) but I'd rather wake myself up, feed him and put him back than being woken up right now! I'm also finding I can latch L on easier on my right side. Is that normal?
+1 to mostly no schedule. We'll try when we get a hold of the basics or figure . I thrive on schedules, love consistency
cheshie6 Both of the girls latched better/easier on the right for me. I don't know why exactly. Eventually it was a piece of cake with Lillian on both sides. I think it got easier when she wasn't reflexively latching, but doing it purposely. It really does get easier over time in general. My first 2 months with her, I would get myself food and drinks, create a kind of nest with everything I needed, and camped out on the couch with her all day while DH was at work. Once she had her first shots and things weren't as scary/hard we started going out during the day to storytime and other such things.
For both my kids I had an easier time BFing on the left. In fact, I had to do foot ball hold on the right in the beginning so it was less sore on the right. Now I can do any position.
Lol to a predictable routine. She sleeps, she wakes, she eats. She has no predictability at 5 weeks old for time of sleep, wakefulness, or amt she eats. That would be wonderful though. I'm looking forward to the day.
goldenlove3 I think the timing of the hepB shot also depends on what type of vaccinations they carry in the clinic. HepB can be a single antigen shot or can be in combination. If it's in combo they will wait to give it until 2 month if it is a single antigen vaccine they will generally give it at 1 month so they don't poke them an extra time at 2 month.
H and I are in a fierce game of pain olympics over here lol.
He says Alec was more fussy and awake last night. Nah bro, I was up every 1.5 hrs to feed Adeline a whopping .5oz each time (she doesn't normally do this and I know the gas/reflux has been bothering her so I let her do it thinking she'd feel better). It takes her 20 minutes to eat and then another 20 to burp and fall asleep. So no, just because Alec was grunting after his feeds doesn't mean he was up all night, I watched you guys sleep for hours at a time lol.
Sorry for the rough day sophiegrace. But on the positive side, it's good you are seeing a consisten pattern in M's day to day. I feel like it's a step in the right direction towards more sleep! How come the bottle feeding wasn't good? I haven't attempted a bottle for J yet but B didn't have any issues so I'm crossing my fingers it's easy this time around!
I think it's the step in the right direction too, if the dog would stop trying to sabotage it. He's always eaten crackers for me though so I'm not surprised he's also now the destroyer of sleep.
As for the bottle feeding I guess she just freaked out and wouldn't take it. H looked pretty disheartened so I hope he wants to keep trying with different brands. I have my OB appointment tomorrow and he wanted to stay home with her while I went, arranged his schedule and everything, but I think we're both nervous she'll just scream at him the whole time.
ClassyMrsA how did you do stuff? (Like hair appointments and whatnot) Did you just take big L with you everywhere? I really don't mind if that's what I have to do, but everyone keeps telling me to leave her at home and go do something.
sophiegrace I couldn't believe all the differences in bottles, it's very possible she just didn't care for the one offered - not that I'm an expert at BF to bottle feeding.
(((Alec is peeing on H as I type this - LMAO))))
But anyway, we had luck moving to bottle with the Mam anti colic but also I LOVE the comotomo (expensive) but only Alec took to that one, Adeline hated it but I've heard it's one of the better breast to bottle options. Currently using the Dr Browns for Adeline because she's a SS.
kleigh lol at that pic!! DS had the "male pattern baldness" early on as well. Fortunately you can't really tell in most of his baby pics because they're taken straight on so he just looks like a cute, completely bald baby.
waitwhat and kleigh, also lol to the H's who have "tough nights." Mine has apparently learned a lesson from the first time we did this; he now simply asks me in the morning, "How was your night?"
sophiegrace I would feed her right before I left the house and I was never gone more than 2 hours in the beginning, no more than 4 once she started solids. Most of the time I did haul her everywhere. But I'd go out for a short bit on the weekends. DH and I would do short little dates. The longest I was away from her was maybe 5 or 6 hours one day last year when I went to the spa until I had Lilah and was in the hospital. She was 13 months when I had my spa day. It's not everyone's cup of tea to live like that, but it worked for us. Also, once she was eating solids, I really liked the time we spent nursing since it was something only I shared with her.

Just my two cents if you need rec's.
Thank you!! I actually have a comotomo (yes, wow expensive) so I'll maybe have him try that instead of repeatedly trying to push the dr browns. I can't imagine the arguments those two got into in utero considering how different their likes and personalities are!
Thank you ClassyMrsA. I feel like I'm starting to get to that point, but I'm not going to force myself to leave her if I don't want to. I have no idea what to do about my appt tomorrow though. If she's good H will be in his glory, but he doesn't handle the screaming very well.
