Has anyone's baby taken their first steps yet? I feel like we can't be that far but then I'm not sure. How well do they need to be able to stand? LO can stand pretty well independently but not for like minutes, although I don't know if that is ability or because she never stops moving.
She has sorta tried to take a step, but not successfully without grabbing a hand. If she is standing and you are in front of her and hold out your hand she will grab it and step to you.

W is pulling to stand and moving along furniture. He will let go with one hand and move to grab something else. I still feel like we are a month or two away from actually walking. We'll see

K is really close to pulling up to stand. She started crawling 3 days after Thanksgiving and is a pro now. Everything she does seems like it happens overnight, so I won't be surprised if she just starts pulling up and taking steps/cruising. She loves being able to stand up holding onto something (with me spotting her.) She can't stand on her own for any length of time yet.

No where close. But she's also just 8 months. My oldest didn't walk until 16 months. While I don't think it'll take E that long since she started crawling 4 months sooner, I'm not expecting anything soon. I have nieces that cruised and pulled up for months and months and were still 15-16 months before they walked.

We're at the same place you are - she can stand up totally independently from a sitting position and cruises everywhere while holding something. I looked back at pictures of DS and he was doing the same at this age, but didn't walk until a week after he turned 1.
Not looking forward to it, as that means I have to go buy her shoes

C has been cruising for months and can stand independently now, she tends to hang out on her tiptoes though so hasn't figured out taking steps yet. I think this may be her month and I am terrified - DD1 didn't walk until 13 months.
see I really want her to walk at this point. She is already in everything, and has been crawling for what seems like forever. I keep thinking there is so many more places we can go if she is walking, like the park. Lol.
Is this where I say I'm getting a little worried that A isn't even crawling yet? I think she's just content to watch the boys play and they bring her stuff. She does get onto all fours and back to sitting all the time. I keep thinking she's just going to take off, but she doesn't. I'm planning on asking her doctor about it in Tuesday.

I wouldn't worry. These walking or almost walking babies are really early. I also know many babies (my oldest included) who didn't crawl until 10-11 months or later. My oldest was evaluated at 13 months and cleared with flying colours. In fact when I told them i was referred because she wasn't crawling at 9 months they all looked at me about how silly that was.
ETA i should say, there was more to it than her not crawling. She had bleeding on her brain at birth so her doctor wanted to make sure that wasn't related to not crawling yet.... No relation.

Thank you! This makes me feel better. DS was pulling up before 10 months so that had me a little worried too.

DS didn't crawl till 10 months and C isn't yet either.

I know a couple families where the younger sibling was less active then their first. A big factor is, like you mentioned, the older ones doing the leg work for them by bringing the younger ones toys etc.
I wouldn't be too worried. In fact, I'd be ecstatic that I was still in the golden zone with a happily entertained non mobile child. I miss those days. lol.

K is obsessed with standing and pulling to stand. She will walk if we guide her and she also walks while pushing toys. She's stood a couple times but doesn't stay up for more than a few seconds. When she first started standing she took a couple big tumbles and then learned to sit on her but if she was unsure. Now whenever she realizes she is not supported she sits down. In fact you can watch her start to lower her butt if I try to let go from holding her upright.

Riley is pulling up on everything (especially me) to stand. Aiden has no interest in becoming mobile at all. At their 9 month appt on 12/1 the pedi said they should be able to stand while holding onto something (i.e. furniture) and not lean on it. We're working with Aiden on it, but Riley is a pro. She will stand and play with her activity table and then turn and grab me to stand by me. She can go back and forth pretty well.
No where near standing or walking, he turned 9 months a few days ago. Not crawling yet, but he has the army crawling and getting up on all fours and rocking down so far. DD didn't crawl til 10 months and walked at 18 months, so I'm not worried. Our friend's baby is one day older than Brady and pretty much skipped crawling and started walking at 8 months. It completely blows my mind seeing her videos lol. I stand Brady up and I'm like "nope, does not seem possible for any baby this size to be walking!".

I'm right with you. DS will be 9 months old in 10 days and is nowhere near crawling. He's so content to sit and watch his older sister. I'm not worried yet, but I think it's so crazy how differently they develop. DD was taking her first steps at this age. I can't even imagine that now!

J isn't crawling either. She still just rolls everywhere. She's not pulling up on stuff, but she likes it when we help her stand. Sometimes when she feels like she's pretty stable we'll try to move our hands away for a few seconds
Yay jewel441 so exciting!! I can't wait for the first step. I think it will be within the next month.
DD1 walked at 8 months, so I'm just waiting patiently for O
I know!! She ha done it a handful of times now and almost did 2 steps today but fell at the very end of the second. So close!! I'm so ready for her to walk!

Lol...you'll take back that last statement soon enough

See LO has been crawling since just after 6 months. Can climb a flight of stairs by herself and is a tiny piece on the floor hunter extraordinaire. She is already into absolutely everything and at this point if she walks I don't understand how that piece could be more work (famous last words, I guess). But if you can walk there are so many more activities I can take her to.
LO is getting bolder. The new record is 3 but she will also step toward something that isn't a parent now, like a table or just out in the open (and then be like oh crap), fortunately she is a good faller. She rarely cries from it bc she lands well/knows to put here hands out if she can't land on her butt. Even when she has a worse one she usually doesn't cry, but yesterday she was lying on the floor and put her cheek down and then totally lost it. Wtf. It took like 5 minutes for her to calm down

K started pulling up to stand today. She did it in the pack and play when she woke up from her nap. My mom found her like that. I've seen her pull up onto the first step of stairs a couple times the last few days.
Last night LO let go of the coffee table and walked halfway across the room to her toys, in front of everyone. She did it like it was no big thing. It must have been 10 steps! She had only ever done 3 before that. Getting so close!!! It was so impressive. It really like it led like walking! Also everyone saw it!

V can side shuffle without holding on to anything but nothing forward motion yet. She can stand by herself for a while now though, so we've been watching her like hawks so we can catch the first steps
