so I found the charity page with Amazon Smiles because I hadn't heard of it before. I take it TCFs affiliation is different than Amazon Smiles? I don't amazon well apparently.

Yeah. Since we aren't a charity, we aren't eligible for Smile. All of our links that we post have our affiliate code in them. And the rules are weird about advertising/disclosure. Like, we have to have the disclosure on any page of the website on which an affiliate link appears (hence why it is in our footer) but we can't advertise our affiliate status as a way to incentivize clicks or purchases (so we can't, for instance, say "click this link to support TCF). There are also weird restrictions on how we list prices.

And further clarification- any non-Amazon shopping link that gets posted (say to Nordstrom, target, or Kohls) by ANY member in ANY thread on the boards make money for Proboards, Inc through a service known as viglink convert. You can read more about viglink if you click on "FTC Disclosures" at the bottom of the page
