Our day has been uneventful. It's subzero, I am frozen and I still need to buy a gift for my mops gift exchange tomorrow. icequeen you do mops right? Are you doing starry eyed for your theme?
M is such a ham. As soon as I hold my phone up to take a picture or video she starts grinning and posing. She's currently trying to put on her hoodie and I tried to get a video but she put the hoodie down as soon as she noticed me, and started walking over to take pictures lol
NellieOleson, I'm so sorry about your cuisinart and christmas tree, how horribly inconvenient. We did Gymboree but I would recommend doing the regular classes, not the music one. You are much better off going to a legit music school for that. crimsonandclover, my sis and I grew up on ham, cream cheese, and pickle sandwiches. I cannot believe someone else shares my love for it!! Lollipop, DD wakes up DS and makes him cry so much. It infuriates me, but what can I do. silverspoon, glad you got your shopping done and that J's tummy is better. scorpioscuba, aww thanks for letting us know about your surgery. Will be sending lots of recovery prayers to you. It's good that YH gets a dose of your daily life. snd1231, you are doing a great job and it was an accident. It happens. Guilty over here too! kcrkcs, poor Lillie, hope her fever is under control. dizzycooks, yes, We Are The Starry Eyed!
DS's birthday was a big success. We had a great day, even though DH was a semi-jackass, but whatever. It was all about the birthday boy and I could not be more proud and overjoyed to have him in my life. Can't believe I have a toddler boy! Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes. Love you ladies!
I got the kids to bed, turned on the Christmas tree lights, lit some candles, and then had to turn on the obnoxiously bright light so I could see well enough to sew. I so wish I could see well enough with less light. I can only enjoy the lights for a few weeks

We had amazon boxes with xmas presents all over the entryway, and today I finally got around to wrapping most of them. Both DD1 and DD2 are getting a very large Playmobile toy, and I'm thinking of not actually wrapping them. They will take so much wrapping paper. Would it be awful of me to just stick a bow on them and have them sitting under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning for them to see right away? I admit that it's totally because I don't want to waste the wrapping paper. :/
scorpioscuba - I am so sorry for the health scare - that sounds so incredibly stressful! T&Ps for a smooth recovery! crimsonandclover - my parents never wrapped the gifts from Santa - they only ever wrapped the gifts from them. Now that I am a Mom, I think that this is a wonderful idea NellieOleson - hooray for the extra $$ but ugh! You thought you'd be getting some help and maybe even a well-deserved break but now - no dice! Could you maybe use some of the extra $$ to hire a babysitter or a mother's helper so you can go out for a girl's night? Whenever DH travels for work, I feel no guilt about hiring a babysitter so I can go out or a mother's helper because wrangling both of them can be too much! You deserve it!! icequeen - I cannot believe your baby boy already turned one!! Time flies!
I was MIA all last week because life is crazy but good for three reasons:
1. We are house hunting 2. I am now a peer reviewer at work, so I'm busier because I have to review cases. My colleagues' case closure numbers now depend on me. I review cases for five people. It's hard. 3. I was the keyworker for our annual charity drive. I threw Office Lawn Game Olympics on Tuesday and it was a huge success - but a major timesuck.

We got about 4" of snow yesterday - which is a major snowfall for here! It started at 1 pm and basically paralyzed the entire city. We have very few snowplows here and they don't salt the streets, so the roads are a nightmare. It took my H's coworkers 5 hours to make a drive that normally would take 45 minutes.
Dd1 is so cute, though. Every time it starts snowing she yells "IT'S CHRISTMASTIME!!!!!!"
We are staying home today, and hopefully building a snowman!

crimsonandclover - Dd1 is getting some playmobil stuff for Christmas, too. It's going to be her Santa present and I'm going to leave it out for her to see right when she gets up. I think I'm going to actually take it out of the box and set it up so it's ready to play right away, but if she was older I'd probably leave it unwrapped in the box.
Growing up Santa always wrapped my present, but in my H's family Santa left things unwrapped. I like the unwrapped style.

Did you know that Miami has a larger snow removal budget than where I live? It's ridiculous.
crimsonandclover my mom usually left big or awkwardly shaped stuff unwrapped. We were always excited either way. I'm probably going to do the same with M's car seat. The box is gigantic and I don't want to waste all of the wrapping paper or take the time to wrap it. I'll just get a fancier bow for it.
I'm officially starting Christmas shopping today. My BFF and I are going to the mall to pick up my sister's present and a gift card for S from my grandmother. H is going out tonight, and then tomorrow after he gets home from work we're going to pick up something for my BIL. We're doing Christmas with them on Sunda, but everything else can wait until H's weekend so we can take our time.

Yeah, we had our Xmas tree downstairs (finished basement) growing up, and when my brother and I got up we were allowed to open our stockings (upstairs) but had to wait to go down to the tree until my parents got up. I remember being so excited to go and look because we usually got something from Lego or Playmobil from Santa and it was already set up. Alright, so maybe it's not a totally lame idea Although these presents are from my mom. The only presents our girls get from Santa are the ones in the stockings. I have some feels about Santa inequalities (some kids getting lots or really big presents from "Santa" while he only gives other kids smaller things and they don't understand why), plus here St. Nick comes on Dec 6th, not on Xmas.
crimsonandclover we were allowed to open our stockings in our rooms until I was in grade 4. Then my parents got tired of me getting them up at 3 am, so they started leaving the stockings by the tree and not letting us get up until at least 5. So I leave the stockings by the tree now too lol.

For being so smart sometimes H acts so dumb! He wanted to leave me here with DD while she naps in our bed so he could go run "really quick" and mail some packages. 1. There is nothing quick about mailing packages in December. 2. WTF am I supposed to do when she wakes up and you aren't here and I can't pick her up? Let her fall off the bed? Then when I tell him this he gets all pissy. GTF over yourself dude.

Men just seriously don't get it. I warned DH at least once a month during my pregnancy with DD3 that he would need to be off for 2 weeks after my RCS because I wouldn't be able to take care of the older DDs. And yet he didn't request vacation and acted completely shocked and put out when I told him he had to stay home because I physically couldn't do it. Gah. Men.
crimsonandclover, scorpioscuba, - so many men who are so smart in their careers are CLUELESS about kids and their logistics! I find myself giving DH who has a master's in civil engineering and the nickname "Scholarship Pete" the side-eye because of his lack of childcare sense! I am still recovering from the time he forgot to put formula in DD's diaper bag when we went to a party. We had to leave! How can you forget the #1 most important thing that our baby needs to survive ?!?!
Whenever I see an article that says how household chores are still not evenly split between the sexes, it's because the dudes mess everything up! /end rant

I told Dh the other day that when I go back to work he will need to help with drop off. Two drops at 6-630am is insane, but will be reality. His response was something to the tune that bc he rides the bus it's hard to do. Pick ups are impossible due to riding the us according to him. Wtf seriously, moms ride the bus and manage to get their kids. They tell their bosses they have to go bc daycare is closing. His inability to say "hey I gotta go, my kids need to be picked up. I'll be online at 8pm or back in tomorrow at 730, what works for you?" Is so damn annoying. If I stayed until all was done or agreed to all meetings I'd never come home at 5 either. But golly gee, someone has to get the kids!
Not cool Mr.Scuba! L is feeling a bit better. It was another very cold snowy day here. And in other news I think our fridge is about to shit the bed. It keeps making these death gurgle squeals. So I guess I am going fridge shopping. If I remember correctly lots of the big box stores have sales on appliances after Christmas, true? ETA anyone want to rec. their fridge? I think we would spend up to $1500ish. I don't know if that's a good budget for a nice one or not, but that feels like it should be enough to get something decent.
My BFF and I took the babies to the mall today. The objective was MAC and the Lego store. We ended up in a bunch of different stores. I spent way more money than I had originally planned, but I got a present for S, stockings for all of us, a stocking stuffer for M, and a couple of other little things.
Now M is down for a nap and S and I are waiting for H to get home. He's going out again tonight. Blah.
Wwj16 do? Dd has a cough and a runny nose. Neither are too bad and seems to feel fine. Daycare told us today they had one confirmed case of rsv. Would you go to story time where you are meeting a friend? Leaning towards skipping but want to make sure that I'm not being cray.
ETA: story time is tomorrow morning
I don't know much but I think rsv is pretty contagious so I would probably lean towards staying at home until I knew peanut was ok. Hope your girl feels better soon, and avoids the rsv!
kelltothekell I'd err on the side of caution and stay home.
I bathed the kids, found S some underwear and jammies (they were right in front of his nose), and now we're hanging out for a few minutes before I read his story and send him to bed. H is gone, and once both of the midgets are in bed I'm going to work on my project, and watch Call the Midwife

If it was just the sniffles and the occasional cough, and she otherwise was in good spirits, I'd probably go. Kids get sick so much this time of year that if you keep them home for every little thing you'd never go anywhere!
Super snotty, bad cough, fever, or miserable baby I'd stay home in a heartbeat, though.

This. And honestly, unless there's a fever I would go bc most of my running is for the hogs and it is t fair that we always stay home for a cold.

And another one bites the dust. I went to bed about 10 last night, and at 11 I woke up to, "Mama! BLERGH!" right outside my bedroom door. DH was still at a city council meeting, so I jumped up and found DD2 had thrown up in the (carpeted) hallway right outside my bedroom door. And outside hers. Awesome. I got her cleaned up and back in bed and then spent the next 20 min cleaning the hallway.
I guess the good news is both DDs 1+2 should be healthy for Christmas...
crimsonandclover - that is the worst kind of wake-up call - I hope that your LO's feel better soon! kelltothekell - I have no idea what I would do. If keeping the playdate would cause me anxiety, I would probably cancel it. I've reached a point in my life where I've decided to no longer voluntarily do anything that will make me miserable or anxious. It's incredibly liberating! LOL! kcrkcs - I can tell you NOT to get my brand of fridge because the handles keep breaking off - make sure that you don't buy a Liebherr. We didn't buy it - it came with the house. I've never even heard of this brand so there's that.
