Friday night ds2 sttn with no wake ups from 9:30-8:30 am. Of course, I was up from 3:45 on with insomnia. And then the last couple nights he's been waking a ton for his pacifier. I'm hopeful that since he slept once he can do it again!

Our babysitter's daughter is in the hospital, so she can't come. Which is a totally legitimate reason of course, but complicates the week tremendously. H is still finishing finals, and later this week he was planning to leave town for a day to visit his grandma who just had major surgery.
I can't complain about my kid's sleep. Other people seem to think it's "bad," but I think it's kinda normal for a 3 month old? I don't know. She goes down at 7pm, sleeps until 11pm-2am then goes for 2.5-3 hour stretches until 7am. So, yeah - she's up 2-3 times a night.
But, now she has a cold. And we didn't do the humidifier last night so she was a snotball at 3am. I was suctioning her nose, tending to her pacifier and helping her sleep from 2am on.
joy, that sounds very similar to N's sleep pattern. He dream feeds 1-2x nightly. Unfortunately both kids are sick, nothing major but enough need to stay home and want to cling to mommy. I had planned to take the kids to a holiday- going away party for a dear friend who is moving out of town. DH was OOT on business and our au pair had previously requested to change her day off to attend a holiday party with other area au pairs. I am so glad my SIL volunteered to stay with the kids for a little while so I could get out.
MH and I have decided that in lieu of holiday, birthday or anniversary presents for the next year we are going to rent a house on the beach in Greece next summer. Our au pair's family lives in Greece and they will help us find something. We will probably fly to London first, then to Greece. I'm sure the air travel part and time zone changes will be challenging with a not quite 1 year old, but we will deal with it. I have been so depressed about what will happen in the world after Obama leaves office, but this planned adventure gives me something wonderful to look forward to.

H accidentally clipped M's finger with the nail clippers. It bled a lot. H feels absolutely horrible.
I've done this. Twice. Or the second time I didn't clip all the way through so no blood, just a red bruise. But the first time it bled. And he screamed. I felt like the world's worst parent. But he survived.
I'm still only using a nail file because I'm so nervous to clip her little fingers!!

Today was DDs first day at daycare. She's been home with MH up until now (Since he got 16 weeks paid leave despite not being the one that had the baby, lol). She did great with drop off, but I totally cried!! I've been checking her on the cameras all day and the teacher just called me to say she's having a great first day. She's actually taken way better naps for them than she ever does for us! Hopefully the rest of the week is just as good. Then I get to be off with her next week.

I prefer using the nail scissors to the clippers. I feel like I have a lot more control with he scissors. Ds2's nails grow so fast - I feel like I am always trimming them!
I like how we always talk about sleep around here! This week on vacation H is in a room with DD1 and I'm in another room with the baby. She has been waking like crazy!!!! Like... sonetimes more frequently than every hour. I have no idea what's going on. It honestly feels like I never get any rest.
Also our nursing has really gone downhill. She is still biting me so hard. I know she wants to nurse for comfort, but she is so forceful because of teething. It's to the point where I absolutely dread every nursing session. It's really affecting my mood to have that in the background of my thoughts all day and all night. She will not take one sip from a bottle so I really don't know what to do. Please be a phase!!
So I tried to start working out at a local karate place my older girls go to since parents can do the kickboxing class for free. Well it had been two weeks since I could go and the owner sends me an email saying he misses me and was wondering when I wold be back. Then he asked if I was on vacation. No dipshit, I have 4 kids, grad school, and all of the other things life has to offer. But the email worked. I'm here waiting for class to start. I hate being manipulated
Not totally relevant but do FF mom's notice more spit up with some brands over others? Thanks to joy's pediatrician saying different formulas are ok since bm changes flavor too I haven't been consistent in buying my off brand Similac sensitive. I got massive amounts of spit up today. One was close to projectile vomit. I guess my Q is she getting sick or is it my changing formula every week or so?
kokopelli, I haven't tried changing brands, but I switched from Similac Sensitive to the regular Similac (blue) and noticed less spit up. I don't think that's how it supposed to work (sensitive should be less spit up, right?), but it did for us

Ds2 is on similac sensitive, either name brand or target. Walmart brand of it (still the orange one) caused projectile vomiting of entire bottles (and horrible smelling poop). We tried enfamil gentlease a month or so ago and that caused a lot more spit up than normal. Also, he just seems to have some days where he spits up more than others. With ds1 we didn't start formula until much older, and his tummy didn't seem to care what we used.
We do similac for spit up due to GERD dr said sensitive is more for better poop not helping keep it down.
Our foster kid just went to his hopefully forever home today. I wish there are better counseling options for foster parents since it is supposedly considered similar to grief experienced in a loss. In the same vein, until we get another foster, the baby has an amazing toy filled playroom.
annbuhdan will she not take a bottle from just you or from anyone. DS wasn't great with the bottle (went 10 hours one day while I was at work) until he started daycare. He sucked it down for them..guess new environment helped. Now he'll take it from DH or my mom, but not from me.

While my husband snoozed away. SIGH.
That sounds reasonable to me . C still wakes up around 4 to eat.
meagpt22 She used to drink bottles until about 3months old. Now she won't take it from me or H. When I leave her with the grandparents, she'll refuse until I get back. She'll cry herself to sleep instead of eating. I've only left her up to 3 hours because of this. I wouldn't even care if she had bottles, except now I need a break from being a chew toy!

It's 1pm and I haven't been able to get either baby down for a nap yet. They are overtired and crying. I want lunch.
On the plus side, I had a friend over this morning and another one coming this afternoon. And yesterday H watched the babies for a couple hours and I went with a friend to get mani-pedis. So I can't complain too much. :-)
Baby's schedule is all off today. Took a long morning nap, then a short afternoon nap, and now his evening snooze is longer. Hopefully it doesn't mess things up tonight! Not that he's been sleeping great anyway.
I am realizing how close we are to Christmas and how much I still need to do. I wrapped some stuff on Sunday but still have a ton left. And I can't do a lot of it with the kids around, so that's limiting how much time I have to do it. And baking cookies, which can't be done too far in advance I guess.
Fun times in my house. It's a wonder week, growth spurt, low grade fever, bad cough kind of week for DS. He sounds terrible and just has the look of someone who feels like shit. And daycare said DD had a low grade fever this afternoon. She seems fine though...just a runny nose (the all winter long kind). Add to my constant sour throat from post nasal drip. Just when I got used to sleeping again..

DS was down to one 3am wakeup, 4 1-hour naps, and a good eat, play, sleep schedule. Then he hit wonder week 5 and started teething. Now he eats all the time, or wants to eat then doesn't want to eat in the same breath. He has started waking up to 5 times a night to eat, takes 5 or 6 15-30 minute naps. And just grunts and groans most of the day. Oh, and the in laws are here for the week, so that further complicates any attempts to keep him on his schedule.
He still manages to smile and be cute in between all of this. We went to a museum today and DS was absolutely content to stay in the ergo and look around at all the art, while i got some snuggles with him. And H told me "the baby fits you." So I've been walking in the clouds all day.
